  1. @sabio,

"I never truly understood the purpose of the aiel sister bonding".

Robert jordan needed a way to include min in a 4-way bonding weave so saidar became an imperative part of an aiel's adoption ceremony, the whole adoption scene was just a precursor for the 4-way bonding scene. (winter's heart prologue).

  2. "I am lews therin telamon, the dragon. I ruled these lands, unified, during the age of legends.i was the leader of all the armies of light,i wore the ring of tamyrlin.i stood first among the servants,

Highest of the aes sedai, and i could summon the nine rods of dominion.i held the loyalty and fealty of all seventeen generals of dawn gates".

Interesting choice of words, like gentled ben said,i'm not sure about the one world goverment,it sounds more like a complex hierarchical structure.

  3. If robert jordan intended rand to be warder to each of the women,he did an extremely poor job planning it,during a two and half years of wheel of time's journey, rand, min, elayne and aviendha were in the same place at the same time twice i.e.caemlyn palace and field of merrilor, three times if we include thakan'dar valley post last battle.

To be honest, rand wasn't much of a warder lol.

Incidentally,i have no problem accepting that the 4-way bonding weave was a modified warder bond,i'm just saying that rand didn't operate like a warder at all, in fact,we learned from alanna's disastrous bonding that rand was completely out of her control.

  4. @mrs. Cindy gill,

"A non channeler having a warder."

I always considered the incredibly beautiful 4-way bonding between rand and his lovers as an unusual wedding ceremony, in my opinion,it's the best scene in winter heart, rand wasn't min's warder, certainly not in the traditional aes sedai warder bonding,it was something akin to an aiel adopting a new family member weave, sure, rand protected and cared for min, and she considered herself rand's first line of defence but it had nothing to do with a non channeler having a warder.

  5. In my opinion, veins of gold is rand's most significant triumph, the rand who went to dragonmount, and the rand who returned from that mountain are remarkably different.

Back to callandor, when rand said that callandor is just another box,he was right

Callandor was a trap, but rand wasn't referring to the taint, nor was he referring to callandor's lack of safety buffer, rand was referring to something completely different.

During rand's disastrous conversation with tam at the stone, min was reading a book called commentary on the dragon by sajius and one line drew her attention"he shall hold a blade of light in his hands, and the three shall be one".

Do you want to figure callandor out before Min?this is the place to start.

  6. @maedelin,

"...callandor would have been packed away with the rest of the objects that were

    given to the aiel...'

no,regardless of solinda sedai true intentions concerning the mission, callandor was

simply too important for the future, the aes sedai built an entire fort to protect it.

    "he seemed a grade-A jerk to me,overall."

oh come on,we don't have enough information to define lews therin, the only person

who knew lews therin intimately before the bore, before the taint, before he murdered

his own family and was still alive 3000 years later is mierin, and she said:" i can

remember when you were too soft hearted to use anyone.devious in battle, hard as

stone and arrogant as the mountains, but open and softhearted as a girl!"

    "i believe in free will"

there's no free will in randland, the pattern is controlling all the decisions.

    by the way,10000 da'shain aiel died at tzora,not 100000(give or take a 0).

  7. @dexterryu,

"it's unclear if this was a specific location or not".

I urge you to re-read rand's entire sequence of flashbacks at rhuidean,it is obvious that solinda sedai didn't have a specific location in mind"keep moving, always moving, until you find a place of safety where no one can harm you".

"But to me that's more of a cultural thing than failing the aes sedai".

The da'shain aiel's covenant i.e.serving aes sedai and following the way of the leaf was not a cultural thing,it was their raison d'etre, the covenant was everything "keep the covenant, jonai.if the da'shain aiel lose everything else, see they keep the way of the leaf.promise me.of course, aes sedai,he said shocked.the covenant was the aiel, and the aiel were the covenant".

  8. Mrs. Cindy gill is right, some time after the breaking of the world, the da'shain aiel were ordered by the aes sedai to carry objects of power to safety,(rand's seventh flashback at rhuidean),during the incredibly long journey to the three fold land, the da'shain aiel disintegrated from one people into three,i.e.the tuatha'an who remained nonviolent but failed in their duty to the aes sedai, the aiel, who broke the nonviolence covenant and renounced the way of the leaf for the way of the spear, and the jenn aiel, who remained true to their covenant and duty but dwindled and died at rhuidean.

  9. setup a base at shayol ghul?who in his right mind would go

voluntarily to a base in shayol ghul?taim was able to recruit

male channelers because he was operating under the dragon

    reborn's political clout(and amnesty),without it,he was a nobody,

    just another false dragon.

  10. @chaosanth,

1.rand,min,naeff,lerian and heidia did spend a full day at bandar eban, rescuing it

from anarchy and starvation, towers of midnight chapter 25.(found it,june,7.)

2.a month+ street fighting at maradon makes sense.

3.mat enters the tower of ghenjei about late morning and leaves about late afternoon same day.

4.agreed.aviendha's trip to rhuidean should have been about two weeks not two months.

5.july 11.tuon signed the dragon peace, and the dragon peace was a hundred years peace treaty

    not a temporary agreement.

6.july 13.after assisting elayne's forces, rand returned to the field of merrilor, not to a place near

    shayol ghul.

finally learned the elayne was 5 months  pregnant during the field of merrilor meeting.

by the way,it's arad doman not arad domon.

  11. sending coulading to rhuidean wouldn't have changed anything,

sevanna understood as early as alcair dal that coulading wasn't

the car'a'carn, just a stupid shaido with two dragon tattoos on his

arms, prancing like a clown and ranting about days of glory.

70 days after his fleeting moments of grandeur at alcair dal, couladin was dead,

yet it didn't stop nor deterred sevanna from continuing with her grand

plan to rule all aiel by marrying rand ha!

  12. the aiel,or at least the clan chiefs knew more than that:".....that one will come later,

the stone that never falls will fall to announce his coming.of the blood, but not raised

by the blood...."(from rand's first flashback at rhuidean).

a few hundreds aiel crossed dragonwall in search for he who comes with the dawn,

and rhuarc was the only clan chief amongst them, although clan chiefs were forbidden

to reveal what they experienced at rhuidean, rhuarc had enough information to figure

    it(rand) out,and he was their(de facto) leader.
