  1. Sipping delicately at a steaming cup of tea, Pia waited patiently for her students to arrive. Inwardly she couldn't help but be disappointed at how few initiates there seemed to be these days. It was a harsh truth to think that many of those currently studying would likely not even make it to the shawl of Aes Sedai. Well, it wouldn't be for a lack of knowledge, and that she would make certain of. She took her role seriously, as overseer of the girls. It was a joy to her to impart wisdom and watch them flourish under her guidance. Teaching a class like this was rarer still, given just how busy she kept herself, and she planned to enjoy every moment.

When at last the girls in their banded dresses were all seated, she set aside her tea and joined the circle of chairs set out for the lesson. "Good morning, Accepted." She greeted them all with a smile, smoothing the sombre dark grey of her skirts. "During these lessons, we will be learning advanced weaves, in further preparation for you to become Aes Sedai. We will be covering quite a few things in these classes, and it will be physically and mentally draining. Ensure you are well rested for class or I will be forced to exclude you for your own safety."

"Now," she clapped her hands together, "I know who you all are, but humour me. I would like you to go around the circle and introduce yourselves, and tell us all something you particularly would like to learn. It could be a certain weave, an area of expertise that interests you, or even a new skill." She pointed to the girl on her right. "You may begin."

OOC: This is just an intro post to get you all rolling and give everyone a chance to join who is interested. I'll have the first 'lesson' post up once you've all posted.

  2. Just a little FYI, ALL RPs done by novices and accepted are retro, ie before the main timeline. That way, you can play a full sister when big events happen, like the recent bonding asha'man thing. It's also why novices and accepted are excluded from those RPs - otherwise you would forever be tied to the main timeline and would never be able to be raised :)

  3. I have no issue with that, though it should be the exception. It is totally preferable that anyone approaching the BT boys for a bondmate has already got a warder. I'd hate to think of anyone wanting to bond a BTer and hunting down someone from the warder's yard just to be allowed at the BT.

Obviously there are going to be times when someone really really wants a warder, and there are just none out there that are willing. In that situation an allowance could theoretically be granted by the powers that be, but on a case by case basis I think. It shouldn't be the norm to be bonded to an asha'man for ANY ajah, I think.

  4. Maybe the controller of the bond should be left in the hands of the pair planning to bond? Let them work out who is most logically going to demand control. Also, the Aes Sedai's current warder should be considered. Let them decide, let the powers that be know their preference when applying. If there are far too many Aes Sedai controlling BTers, the BT DL could rule as such and say that they would prefer the other way around. Or they could happily approve of their well thought out plan to bond in a logical way that provokes lots of fun and interesting rps. :)

  5. Totally agree with the warder rules Elgee!

Anyway, I like the set up you've proposed. For the Grays, I don't think they would stand against the bonding, but neither would they encourage it for themselves. If a Gray wants to bond an asha'man she must have bonded a warder already, and a good IC reason for wanting/needing a second warder. Other than that I have no issues with it.

Obviously a bond with an asha'man will have the same rules as with a warder, yes? As in they are not broken easily and shouldn't be entered into lightly, etc etc.

  6. Is there anyone playing at the moment with a shielding talent? You see, my Aes Sedai Lavinya has a shielding talent which she's only fairly recently discovered (timeline wise) and I want to RP some experimenting and flexing the talent. Not only from shielding others, but also comparing with someone else with the same talent. Obviously, said person would need to be able to RP with her at the tower. If no one has the talent, I'm open to experimenting on anyone who is game enough :D.

I haven't done a plot outline or sought approval or anything yet, I'm just garnering interest first!

  7. DO YOU KNOW HOW RIDICULOUSLY PAINFUL IT IS TO UPDATE??? WHY MUST YOU BE SO DIFFICULT?

That's it. Go to my room. You better be bending over with your pants down when I get there for the spanking of a lifetime. ;D

Heh all done, just make sure to update your report thread too for posterity (in case you haven't, I haven't checked yet :))

    *loves on Boopsie*

  8. Come and check this page for me!

    http://whitetower.aliciawilkerson.com/?page_id=707

This is an up to date list of all currently active novices and accepted, with a list of all your completed and yet to complete requirements. I need you to kick me if I've made a mistake!

-Obviously, if you're not there and you should be, tell me

    - Check that I've marked the right requirements

    - If you're missing credit, first check you've posted on the report board! If you have and I've missed it, please point me to your updated report post.

For accepted, you don't have to declare your Ajah until you're good and ready. If you're loud and proud let me know and I'll post it for all the world to see! You will need to decide before your oaths though ;).

I'll try and keep that page super updated so you can easily keep track of where you're up to. Thanks for checking, guys! :)

  9. Now that the girl had already been tested, it was time to make her stay at the White tower a fact. Strange enough, the testing didn’t mean that the girl looked any more secure than she had before about her stay at the White Tower. Even though she had to know, somewhere deep down inside of herself that she would be accepted within the White Tower. That she would learn to channel, to the best of her abilities. Still the girl shifted in her seat, as if she couldn’t quite believe that she would be asked to stay. Pia decided to relieve her from the tension that was building. She opened the book of Novices which was still in front of her. She picked up her pen, and prepared to write. “Let’s see about making your stay here a bit more permanent then, shall we?”

She didn’t have to look at the young woman to see that there was a change in the tension that had kept her in it’s thrall. “Can you tell me your full name again?” As the girl replied, she wrote it down in the book. Another life sealed to the Tower, for better and for worse. “And your place of birth and raising?” again she wrote, making Marta‘s stay more certain with every letter, every curved or straight line. “And finally your age.” She finished with a dot behind the age, which felt as heavy and important as any signature from any high lord or lady. “Welcome to the White Tower.”

Ooc: rp your char’s reaction to being written down in the novice book.

  10. Pia waited with the same still anxiousness she felt at every one of these tests. There had been a time when she could not bear to even think of those silvery arches, so much so that she refused her first two tests. It had become a great source of fear, having lost her own sister to it's unknown depths. It had happened three times in her considerable lifetime. Three out of hundreds was not so bad, but Pia held a silent fear behind her serene features until each girl reappeared from their third arch. Hoping for the best, but always on some level expecting the worst - nothing.

The giant knot of tension eased as Kathleen stumbled from the third arch, whole yet shaken. The Amyrlin met the new accepted as custom dictated, pouring clear water from the chalice over her bent head and reciting the ancient words. Pia stepped forward as the Amyrlin turned to fetch the silver ring from the table for the child's finger. Pia had make Kathleen a promise, and now she would keep it. "Mother, if you please," she said with soft respect, interrupting the ceremony. "She would have this ring, I think." Opening the box she held and had kept over the years, she smiled at Kathleen as she offered it to the Amyrlin to place on her finger. The woman in the striped stole flickered a look over Pia briefly but made no comment, removing the ring and finishing the ceremony.

    Pia Tovisen,

    Mistress of Novices

(OOC Just a quick post so you can finish the ceremony in yours without too much interruption, but if you want to continue talking to Pia afterwards or whatever that's fine by me! :))

  11. If you have no other takers, I'll help you out! I'm catching up on all my other threads right now (ok procrastinating by reading the boards) but once that's done I will start a class for you. It won't be taught by a yellow (sorry), but I'll use Pia, and have her focus heavily on the healing side once she discovers the strong interest if you like. :)

  12. I have no issue with this. Like Boopsie said, there are very few active ashaman anyway, so it's not like everyone can rush out and nab one. And also, the Warders are kept as first pick. I think though, unlike a normal bonding where you don't need permission, it should be sought for bonding an ashaman (current plot line aside). It shouldn't become the norm to have more than one warder, so if you have to apply with a decent reason for wanting a crazy man bonding, it should keep it to a minimum, without hampering anyone's fun.

  13. I think this is all working out in a very realistic and logical manner. I'm thinking of a slightly different way to flush out the Gray head. I imagine someone like Pia would be vastly curious about the goings on between sisters who do not get along mysteriously meeting. She's a perceptive lady, but I doubt she would go and snoop for herself. Anyway, what if she is found by accident sorta kinda? Like a note is despatched with a novice and she is told to deliver it to the head of the Gray ajah. Obviously not having a clue who it is, she would ask the first Gray she saw and it could be passed on that way. And the note could be warded so it could only be opened once. Any Gray would be practically suicidal to think of reading a private note intended for Pia, so she would get it...perhaps the note sender hoped to gain her identity by questioning the novice, but instead Pia backtracks and finds them?

I don't know, its only half thought out as I write this lol...but maybe something different to Pia approaching the group or vice versa.

  14. Grr, intermittent access indeed. Today is the first day I've managed to get online since I emailed Elgee my semi-loa. Sorry for anyone waiting on me! I doubt I will have access again until I go home on Friday night, so please keep bearing with me :)
