The acting I like. In particular Moiraine and Rand.
Go back and watch ep1 when Moraine and Lan enter the inn. Her meaningful facial expressions are comical. I'm no longer a fan.

Take Squid Game for example, for several weeks thats all anyone really talked about…
That's a really good example. While Squid Game had flaws and detractors, it was engrossing. It became a cultural event. I don't sense that with WOT. Maybe future seasons will grow the buzz. Remember, Baywatch was a disaster on NBC but when they revamped and moved to cable, it blew up.

Un-Scientific:
1. Are these newer actors 'blowing up'
2. Is this series water cooler talk at anyone's job?
3. Do you see news/entertainment articles on the front page of what ever feed you have or do you need to search for them?

Beyond them to the west lay a network of lakes, the waters glittering darkly in the slanting sunlight, like beads of random size on a necklace of many strings. In the distance, circled by the lakes, stood jagged-topped hills, thick in the creeping shadows of evening. For one brief instant the sun's rays caught the shattered tops, and Rand's breath stilled. Not hills. The broken remnants of seven towers.
I missed this in my memory. The phrase "Broken Towers" obliterated "jagged topped hills" in my head cannon.

I feel like I can see faces.... Third from the right seems to have arms wrapped around the mid section? Maybe there is a little totem pole structure?
I'd imagined something like this originally (Great Wall of China given Asian influence)
The images from ep 8 don't look martial. They look religious unless they are historical figures like these...
-
There was a shot of the seven broken towers of Malkier in ep8 that I haven't seen discussed in much detail yet. My first reaction is that they look more like termite mounds from Africa than broken towers but that's just my predisposed negativity at this point. Upon closer look, were those towers formed to look like figures? Past Kings? I don't remember any lore from the books......

Why? Because it doesn't line up with your preconceived ideas of human behavior? Trust me, the people running the analytics know exactly what that number is and how to leverage it.
It's not about what people want to watch, it's about the network's ability to secure actor's time and the creative team's ability to generate quality content across too many episodes.

But also the part of the story that they can't skip and even pretend it's the same story - what happens when he cuts Rand with it.
Every bit of what happens at that time is critical to the rest of the story following it.
The story arcs for Cadsuane, Darlin, the understanding of the differences between Aes Sedai and Asha'man Healing, even Cleansing Saidin. All of them are dependent on what the dagger does.
After whatever episode Loial showed up in and I was mocking his costume, I projected the Jolly Green Giant as the Green Man. I was mocked for believing that the Green Man would even be included (rightly so). Who knows what they think is critical to the the story? Darlin? I'd be shocked if we saw Darlin. Rand cleansing Saidin? Maybe we'll get to see Nynaeve cleanse it.... Cadsuane? We'll probably see three seasons dedicated to her.....

I'd love to have a beer with her....

Because the dagger being an immediate death sentence is critical to the story how?
It gives Fain power over fades, but they won't show that progression either. You're right. It doesn't matter. None of it does. They can tell whatever story they want. They should tell the story that's in their hearts. The story that sings to them. Just don't pretend it's Jordan's story. To be honest, I really wish Rafe would have written a story from scratch and told that. It may have been great but we'll never know.

You mean like Sword of Truth?
Funny. I had totally forgotten about that series until it started cropping up here again recently. I had to look up Sword of Truth to remember that I had even read the first two or three. I have an irrational hatred of 'captured/saved' arcs and even though I'm a professed bookcloak, there are several of these arcs in this series that I wouldn't mind being skipped over. I really dislike Faile's arc.

I have posted the screen time count a few times, you'll likely be able to find them in Ep 6, 7 & 8 threads, and they are on Reddit.
It's funny how even though the stats indicate how heavily Rand is shown on the screen that it just doesn't feel that way? I wonder if that is because of the way they've portrayed his character, they way they filmed his scenes, or maybe that I get disinterested in him when he's worried about Egwene?
In the episode where he uses the power to explode out of the storeroom, I was focused on the bartender rather than him.....

Aiel adapt cadin'sor to the surrounding vegetation, climate etc. so makes sense it has that dirty-white/brown/grey coloring in the Blood Snow.
I don't think an Aiel fighter would wear white............

Again, IMO this just shows the overuse of height as a trope in fantasy, and RJ nor Rafe&Co. are invulnerable to this trapping. Height literally means jack in many circumstances. A lion is shorter than you but will <expletive> you up regardless.
Not the worst sin in the world for RJ to do this but you have to admit he mixed them up. Short but intimidating Nynaeve. Large but gentle and methodical Ogier.
I don't think Aiel were represented as dangerous due to their height, nor were the Ogier. Their height may have been writing tropes but RJ used those tropes to provide color and distinction.

Because it made for excellent discussion among nonbook readers. It had them talking and theorizing about the show between episodes.
Nope. They could have had the same discussion surrounding the three lads.
Many here think that the first couple of books were weak and I'll admit that the fourth is my favorite but I'll continue to say it worked extremely well as Jordan wrote it. Granted the TV version was going to be cliff notes and I would be disappointed with almost every removed scene but they never had to have the five headed power ranger dragon.

TEOTW tries to do this too, except it's whittled down to three people, not two. It honestly doesn't make much of a difference that this is expanded to two other people. As for the possibility of the DR being female, well, so what, at this stage in the game?
I really do not get this agenda thing.
If there isn't an agenda, why do it? Why add complexity to a story that needed to be shortened and streamlined but to make a specific point?

Cadsuane used the tools she had available - personal animus, demands for common decency and courtesy, and societal norms of respect
She took that approach without knowing anything about him. Also, she was a bully to every other person she came in contact with except Sorilea. It was what she was, not just a mask to wear in order to fix Rand.

You bring up "The Dragon could be female" angle here as an issue. What issue will it cause that the characters, in universe, thought that the Dragon could be born female now that it have been revealed that the Dragon has been reborn male?
Why do it to begin with?
I've stayed far clear of any 'agenda' accusations to this point but after reading the draft on episode one........

I would say the primary reason is not that Nynaeve is a healer, but that she cares and is trustworthy and that Rand trusts her (with his life and that of the world) - even when he is at peak madness and suspects almost everyone else.
Add her known power and I agree. She was the only option.

I made an honest, concerted effort to give this series another go last night.
1. I watched all of the origin stories. Meh. If that's all we are going to get of Mat's contest with G & G, I'm pissed.
2. I turned subtitles on so I could catch dialog I'd missed before.
3. I liked Tam.
4. Egwene didn't just gain permission to wear a braid but was admitted into the women's circle?
5. Instead of having Egwene tell Rand that she just couldn't tell him about the ceremony, she could have said "Women's Circle business is none of yours Rand Al Thor!"
6. They absolutely tried to set up a love triangle between Perrin, Rand and Egwene. Absolutely.
7. Watching Lan enter, proudly proclaim his full name and the announce Moiraine's entry was comical. It was like watching later episodes of Seinfeld when the stage audience was supposed to go nuts when Kramer entered the room. Her intended, significant facial gestures was like watching Joey Tribbiani from Friends teaching acting with his Smell A Fart Technique. I've been a fan of Rosamund over the years but not anymore. She's been given a pass on this forum because of her past chops.
7. She can see the 'four' ta verene? They didn't say she had a talent, but she immediately picks them out? Ridiculous.
I couldn't like it and I wouldn't 'hate' watch it so I turned it off and watched a hockey game instead. I'm so sad because I've been looking forward to this for so long. It was hard to see GoT make it to TV before this. Now that this is here, I can't stand it, and I don't think they will continue past season 2 much less 'fix' it. I hope that it does continue because there are obviously a large number of people that are enjoying it.
Lastly, even though this go-round on this forum has been much different than when the books were being written, it's still been fun to participate in a forum again. Discussing a series of book with people wo love them as much as I do has been wonderful. I think that traffic here will die down over the months as there is less new information to discuss and if the series is canned, it will die off altogether.

if really really you want the wife-fridging could have been:
Instead of killing his wife, he could have gone berserk-frenzy and ignoring the wife in danger and, as a result of this, the wife ends killed because he did not help her.
This would have been a much better solution. Much better

Season 1 Discussion (Full Book Spoilers) v2.1
in Wheel of Time TV Show
Posted
All true. Whatever the book guru's name is that is advising the show said, they were all thrilled with episode 8. I'm not in ANY WAY saying she should get or should have gotten the hateful, dangerous feedback that she has, but the fact that while she clearly knows people are upset and she's clearly happy with the show tells me they will not 'course correct'.
