DRAGONMOUNT

A WHEEL OF TIME COMMUNITY

In Memory of Wilson Grooms

Jason Denzel
  • Wilson Grooms, Robert Jordan's cousin and a pillar of the Wheel of Time community, has passed away.

We are devastated to learn of the passing of Wilson Grooms, who died peacefully at home after a courageous battle against cancer.

Wilson was Robert Jordan's cousin although they referred to each other as brothers. It was Wilson who guided the WoT community through the sad days when RJ passed away in 2007. Since then Wilson has been a pillar of our fan community. He will be missed dearly.

Sending love to Wilson's family including his wife Janet, and his daughter Marisa, and their sons Miles and Jonathan.

Rest in peace, Will. You always said you'd give "the big fella" (RJ) a hug for us when you got there. I'm sure he's got one waiting for you as well.

Here is the statement from his family:

Quote

An incredible life has come to an end too soon. My dad, Will Grooms, passed away this morning at his home in Indian Trail. For the last year, he has been fighting a tough battle with cancer that got the best of him. Our entire family is still in shock and processing everything that happened to him over the last year. Life is not fair, and it was devastating seeing him suffer for as long as he did. Though we are not yet at peace, we are thankful that he is no longer suffering.

Visitation is scheduled from 6-8pm on 14 April 2021 at Heritage Funeral and Cremation Services (3700 Forest Lawn Drive, Matthews, NC 28104).

The funeral is scheduled at 1pm on 15 April 2021 at Saint Matthews Catholic Church (8015 Ballantyne Commons Parkway, Charlotte, NC 28277).

Our family is thankful for the friendship, love, support, and kindness shown to us throughout the years, especially this last. We are grateful to have so many wonderful people lift us up in this time of need.

God bless and Beat Navy.

I am so sorry to hear about his passing. I have never met him, but he sounds like a wonderful man, who did not deserve to die so soon. Sending good wishes to his family.

This is sad. Brings back memories of his constant work with RJ when he was sick. Good thing they were of the same kin.... tough, strong and insightful. Thank you W.G.

What a terribly sad thing. Wilson was a true Child of the Light and it was a blessing to have him in our lives. My condolences and those of the White Tower of Dragonmount to his family.
