Jason Denzel

Dragonmount is excited to partner with Macmillan Audio to celebrate the release of Winter's Heart on audiobook. Now if that sounds strange to you, there's a good reason. After years of being out of print, the physical CD edition of Winter's Heart --Book 9 of Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time series--can now be found wherever books are sold. Macmillan Audio is honored to complete the WoT series on audio with this re-release of fan favorite, read by series' narrators Michael Kramer and Kate Reading.

To help celebrate this, check out our very first Wheel of Time video news segment, hosted by Kristen Nedopak:

To celebrate all this new stuff, we're partnering with Macmillan Audio to give away some fun prizes. Our grand prize is a copy of Winter's Heart on audio CD, along with a copy of Towers of Midnight on audio CD and signed by Brandon Sanderson, Harriet McDougal and Michael Kramer. Secondary winners will receive copies of Winter's Heart on audio CD.

To enter, reply to this post with your favorite scene from Winter's Heart. The contest ends at 11:59 PM (U.S. Pacific time) on Tuesday, March 15th. This contest is open only to residents of the United States and Canada. (Sorry, folks.) One entry per person, please. We'll draw the winders from a random selection.

Without a doubt, the Cleansing, mainly because no one on the planet in this age or the previous one had ever even contemplated using that much raw power. Couple that with the Forsaken all coming out of the woodwork and the sheer idea that the world may no longer have to shun all male channelers...the whole moment to me felt like a single, simple, powerful retort to the Tower's nasty manipulative politics when dealing with the Dragon, as well as the dawn of a new era where sensible people of both genders could finally work together with the power without terrible consequences.

The scene where Birgitte and co. got hammered on Oosquai trying to dull their senses during the uh...event with Rand and Elayne was absolutely hilarious too. A definite laugh out loud moment and a much needed moment of levity for the main characters.

The attempted murder of Elayne and Dyelin... so hard to turn the page to see if either or both would live!

I have to go with the cleansing...the bringing together of the Forsaken, the trust shown by Rand to Nynaeve...and the reveal of Lanfear, very very cool.

My favorite scene probably has to be in Chapter 31 "What the Aelfinn Said." Mat's escape from the damane holding pens, and subsequent abduction/proposal is both drastically humorous and richly suspenseful. Action, humor, and romance, what more could you want?

There's so many favorite scenes to choose from, but one that always stands out for me when I read, is the end of chapter 31. The scene in which Mat finds out that Tuon is his future wife.

I think it was a brilliant way for this particular 'bomb' to be dropped on him when he least expected it. It always gives me a smile to imagine the look on his face at that moment. :mat:

For me, my favorite part was when Rand stated his love as a matter-of-fact to Elayne, Aviendha and Min. He tells each of them in turn that he loves them, and Nynaeve's reaction is hysterical as she is nearly to the point of losing her mind over what Rand has just proclaimed. Finally, Nynaeve completely unnerved and left totally/utterly speechless! Awesome! And Rand, that lecher! LOL!

My favorite scene was when Mat went to rescue Teslyn ("Tessi") and the windfinder from the palace and neither believed he could or would do it.

I do love the audiobooks of WoT. Both the English and the Dutch version. Kate Reading and Michael Kramer are amazing narrators. My first audiobook was the Gathering Storm, bought in the US on a holiday and two months later the Towers of Midnight in Londen.

My favorite part of Winter's Heart is when Cadsuane, the Aes Sedai who controls every body and everything, sighs and tells that she has no idea how she can make Rhand laugh again.

Of course the cleansing, the whole scene is just awesome. But I also really like when Lan fights Toram Riatin

My favorite scene is where Egeanin exclaims to Mat, as Mat is abducting Tuon, "You madman! It's death by slow torture to lay hands on the Daughter of the Nine Moons!" Given then Mat's aversion to marriage, I'm sure he felt Egeanin was being prophetic!

I think Rand and Lan in Far Madding was pretty awesome. It showed just how dangerous Rand had become.

My favorite scene has to be when Rand bonds to Elayne, Min, and Aviendha. Especially the scene right before when he tells them that he loves all of them and calls himself a lecher and Nynaeve starts yanking her braid and scolding him for saying such things, lol :)

The cleansing. Hands down the best scene in Winter's Heart and one of the best in the entire series. The fights with the Forsaken, the "end" of Shadar Logoth, Moghedian scuttling away like an impotent daddy long legs.....loved it!

I have to say Mat 'kidnapping" Tuon makes a close second, not so much for the scene itself but just for what comes later. I love this scene even more after reading some of the later books.

I must first say, if you haven’t experienced the Wheel of Time through audio book, I highly recommend it. Michael Kramer and Kate Reading do an amazing job with the character voices.

I understand why the vast majority of people are picking the Cleansing. It is a very significant event and is an exciting scene to read. However, it is not my favorite scene because I had already believed Rand would cleanse Saidin and was just waiting for it to happen.

I usually can pick my favorite scene in a book by the emotional charge that I feel while reading/listening to it. To be honest, the first time I read through Winter’s Heart there wasn’t a moment in the book that I got that emotional charge (such as the one I had during the battle of Dumai’s Wells). Consequently I didn’t have a scene that stood above the rest. However, during my re-listening prior to the towers of midnight I came to like the Far Madding setting more and more. Specifically my favorite scene of the book is where Rand is imprisoned and later released in Far Madding. To me it foreshadowed how the help of the female Aes Sedai will be instrumental if they are to be victorious in Tarmon Gai’don. It is in this scene that Rand is at his most vulnerable fighting off the agony of being in another “box” and during one of his greatest times of need, it is a female Aes Sedai who saves him.

Hey this SUX!! Where is my post??!! I know I posted on this thing!!!

Anyways I hope I will not get penalized for doing this 2ice bcuz I did post a reply!!

I choose as my fave Rand & Nyneave cleasing Saidin. I especially liked it when it ended w/ a whisper. No fanfare, no grandiose hooplah just, "It's Clean"

I think the last battle will end in exactly the same way. Jordan would have done it that way.

There are so many to pick from in this book, but I'm going to have to go with Rand telling all 3 girls that he loved them. It wouldn't have been as high up on my list except for RJ including Nynaeve in the scene. Her reaction to the whole thing makes me laugh every time I read it. Kind of feels like how my Mom would react if I was in Rand's place. (Right up the point where she'd kill me, regardless of whether or not the girls were ok with it!)
