Seriously, you read the thread, you throw in your 2 cents and play your role. That's it.

Then you go out, frolic, enjoy life... that sort of thing.

I kinda feel bad for baiting you now. Sheesh.

God I want to drag Cory back here and get you in a game with me him and Zander.

would be lulz

Sounds like you're getting an invite to the clique, DPR. I feel so proud.

Certainly not - everybody has ticks, but the point of this game is to be a chameleon. To *not* play the same every time, so that people can't peg you through meta. I've played loud, quiet, aggressive, scum, town, drunk, whatever. I'm genuinely surprised that people depend so much on meta now - it's weird, like once your known for a meta, you have an obligation to live up to it. It's baffling.

It is not only baffling, it's also kinda sad. But it is what it is, I guess. But yeah, the obligation is very real. :/

Also pretty sure you're drunk in all of the games so... you're not fooling anyone with that.

either im re-affirming my claim from earlier because it's true or i read the posts he made when he popped in earlier and felt they were lacluster since i thought it was at a time where the shitposting period had ended and people were making posts/giving reads making it possible to have some sort of content, so i'm continuing to press the claim in order to apply pressure in the hopes he responds to me or others with something where i can get an idea of his alignment

Problem with Notbob is that he's kind of a tough nut to crack. Plays is extremely close to the vest and so he always seems inherently scummy to me. Gotta beat stuff out of him. And he generally enjoys it too lol

@Bop - I figured it was something along those lines. I'll just say that NB tends to be a bit of a slow starter but he's not a terribly hard player to read imo.

He's a straight shooter.

Erm, no? lol  I wouldn't call him an easy read at all.

I'm torn between asking what games those were and slapping myself for encouraging you.

Would you consider it a reasonable assessment of your scum game in general?

DPR is my soulmate.

DPR's last scum game here was a lot more linear.

You really did go and read past games?

He's the King of meta.  Let him have his throne.

Yeah.... he's like a human label maker...

DPR,

what are your thoughts on shad's alignment?

I get the impression Shad is focussing on rep more than this game. I say that because we are in d1, barely past (or maybe not even) the shitposting and it would be silly to spec on player's alignments so early because of the high-percentage chance that you'll be wrong.

I've never played with Shad before now. I'll keep an eye on him along with the others and let you know what I see.

Out of curiosity, what are your thoughts on shad's alignment?

im asking because earlier you speculated on mine and eldrick's alignments and i'm curious if you are shitting on the way shad plays the game because you think he's either a wolf trying to back up reads with fake reasonings or you think he's a villager and just enjoy criticizing how other people play.

just because you make a read, doesn't mean you have to be married to it. you can change it. this game isn't just about being right, it's about making reads and backing them up with how you got there so people can get an idea of how you play/read the game and also lets people get a read on you, because making yourself an obvious town when you are town is just as important, if not more so, than being correct.

I am leaning towards shad being town for the simple reason that he seems to be trying to figure out the game and at this point on day 1, thats good enough for me.

^ This is the sort of thing I like to see - disingenuous logic wrapped up in caring. This is good.

To be precise, I offered an opinion regarding qualities of Eldrick's posting. I placed a vote on Eldrick. I further noted your remarks concerning Eldrick's post and my vote on him as defensive toward Eldrick  - and I went for the drama free version of this, so let me know if you see anything that is not factually correct.

I offered my opinion because that's the thought I had after I read yours and Eldrick's posts. Simples. You can take it or leave it.

Your statement above: "im asking because earlier you speculated on mine and eldrick's alignments and i'm curious if you are shitting on the way shad plays..."

Of course I speculated on yours and Eldrick's alignments. That is why we're here, no? You seem offended by this, which we'll get to, but first I'll note that "speculation on mine and Eldrick's alignments" and "if you are shitting on the way shad plays" are two, entirely different things. Why did you try to combine them? To me, it reads as nervous defending, which would be odd on d1 with almost no voting going on?

I'll also point out that Shad engaged me. Why would you twist this?

Last, you providing two possibilities for why I committed the act that I did not actually commit is commonly referred to as "leading the witness". In my experience, the only reason to do this is to create a narrative within the minds of the jury (those voting in this case) and nudge them toward a conclusion. I do not, in fact, have either opinion of Shad.

That's the first paragraph - I'll call "Setting The Mood". The second is where you dive right, assuming that the voters have enjoyed the Koolaid you've served, and you present the classic kindly-yet-condescending admonishment as to how the game is played...

I appreciate your concern, really, but I'm reasonably confident I can muddle my way through this.

As for your leaning town on shad, good. You're on record for being so. Honestly, if you're town, that's the only thing you've said or done that's worth a shit.

Humor me here. What in your mind should a villager be doing on day 1?

I'm going to pick up on the part above where I noted bop seeming to be offended by my remarks and I'm going to speak to what I suspect is happening on this day 1.

When you play with a group of folks long enough, you run the risk of slowly but surely repeating the same game over and over. I get the feeling that's what's happening here. Everyone is used to each other's meta, they all have their part to play and it's very nicely choreographed. Making alignment calls on day 1 is a symptom of this. Explaining to others that they are not playing correctly is another, although there are nuances in that case to be explored.

To answer your question, day 1 is (usually) the only point in the game without hard info. It's a meet & greet. It may provide clues further down the road, or it may not. Only an unskilled player will give themselves up on day 1, no? I laughed at bop's statement above regarding the need to appear obvious town - what a complete waste of time. And that's what I'm talking about - the choreographed way that this group plays has nothing to do with how other's play, and if you've allowed yourself to fall into a rut, you can bet that it won't be long before someone comes along to exploit that.

Anyway, it looks like I've not played with 8 out of our 15. And, of the 6 (or 7 counting the hydra) 3 have barely posted. The other is Darf, and no matter how much he posts, he's barely posted.

My plan is to enjoy day 1, get the lay of the land and see what you bedbugs have gotten up to since I've been away. I'll make comments to contribute and as I said above, you can take 'em or leave 'em - I have no expectation either way - as they are just a way to put myself on record and maybe add a piece to someone else's puzzle.

NB, give me some thoughts pls

I'd like some blood in the water, WTL Darthe, Shad or Eldrick.

Not surprised by the Darthe mention lol    Why Shad and Eldrick?

DPR,

We don't agree on how to play the game. That's fine. But the fact that most of your game thus far has focused on that rather than figuring out people's alignments is something I am starting believe means you are probably scum.

Let's take your last post, you break down my post saying im framing my arguement to make you look bad but end it with a comment implying you still think im town. Great, you have an open mind, that is good, but right now, if you had to guess, take a stance and tell me if im a wolf or a villager. I promise you can re-evaluate later.

I am trying to figure out if you are just stubborn about giving reads or if you are just focusing on how people play because that is something that is easy to talk about has any alignment.
