I thought about it almost immediately after I posted, but I was so annoyed that they waited until the time of day that I'm not there EVERY DAY and then sili gave me an hour and when I just happened to goet on I had like 15 minutes just cause he didn't wanna wait. At that point it was a loss anyway.

Yeah I get it, he definitely did not need to be so impatient

 

TBH I feel that non-majority lynch games are a lot more friendly to players like Kat who simply don't have as much time to be present for the game and may possibly not be around when people get impatient.

 

I was going to give her more time so she could answer my questions.

It is, I think it's balanced to some extent by letting town have night chat though

 

town kinda loses that benefit when night phases are rushed too, so influential townies can be knocked off before they help solve for the next day

 

 

I think the only day night was significantly shorter was after WiFi's flip

 

Early game, town PR can also choose to delay phase change

 

in addition, the extra time is normally added to the following day and people play more seriously when they can vote

Dead mafia chat is not akin to night chat IMO. Mafia communicating during the day offsets thread being open at night.

The vast majority of players prefer town to mafia. I would guess that a majority of us follow Cory's 'randing mafia is something we all have to do to allow the game to run' school of thought. So why make it worse for people than it is anyway?

 

Additionally it's more fun as town to play against a mafia that's trying, so day chat makes it better for most town as well

I actually think this explains why dead mafia chat is analogous to night chat

 

In a high volume environment (like DM) night chat makes PR hunting far harder for most mafia since they have to maintain thread presence - dead mafia don't have to maintain thread presence and CAN PR hunt

 

 

Additionally it's worth noting that most dead mafia either head to the dead thread or occasionally pop in with a 'you can do it'. The AJ/Hallia dynamic is awesome, but rare, and most people don't stick around the way I do. So although it CAN be very strong, it's generally underused :/

... you gave me an hour... in the afternoon when I'm almost never here... As many games as we've played together... almost never here... Only got on last night when I did because my kids were at VBS so I wasn't being attacked by them... Last night at that time I don't even log on 95% of the time.

I have no problem with mafia having day chat or staying in the qt after death, fwiw. I just think regy is absolutely right that its very powerful and not at all the norm (well, deadchat isnt...daychat goes both ways)

Only reason I'd commented on it is I'd literally never seen it before and went through the whole game with no idea it was happening
