@AJ: when he admitted to this mix-up, why didn't you push him more about it, or follow up with questions like the one's I'm asking? Weren't you curious as to why Sili was trying to read Shad, or is there something in his meta I'm not getting that made you dismiss this detail and not push him for a response?

 

What do you think about Sili currently? What do you think about the fact that Zander and Hallia both have defended Sili's behavior/actions up to this point?

Firstly, your questions are sort of irrelevant :) I didn't ask them because the answers are obvious.

 

Shad hadn't posted yet, so there was nothing to read on him yet. Sili said John's posts were null because it became apparent later that everyone who had posted up to that point was without a role Pm and therefore nothing was alignment indicative. In fact, as you read on like I assume you will, you'll see that I mention a few times that I think Sili's posts were weird. I also asked him if he was perhaps making a typo because of his mistake. So I think I did a fairly good job of examining the situation.

 

My take on Sili currently is that he is a person of interest. The last time I caught him as scum he made a lot of posts that were confusing/unclear and disappeared a lot. When I pushed him he claimed a guilty cop view on me. So currently he is mildly suspicious but I will see what he comes back with whenever he does.

 

I am voting Zander so that should be a pretty good indicator of where I stand with him. If you want to know specifics I imagine you have already glossed over them considering he is in the bottom of your suspect pile. I do find it troublesome that he made a point to challenge me on Sili though.

 

Hallia I don't have much of a read on. I think her town read on Sili for superficial reasons wasn't good, but that's not scum behavior for her necessarily.

 

im not sure where you stopped in your read to make this post, further along I imagine considering you're talking about Zander defending Sili, but some of your questions could've been easily answered in the thread. Obvious questions deserve obvious answers and therefore I don't think too highly of your review. Read and think more before you post imo.

Hopefully that doesn't sound condescending, but a simple look back to the beginning of the game would show you that Shad hadn't posted yet. Among other things that you asked about.

 

It sort of bothers me for someone who both claims to be analytical, and is described that way by others, that you'd miss such an obvious detail to your questioning.

God I'm trying to get to bed--- first, that wasn't a review, those were questions, ldo =_= Anytime anyone else has asked questions, even when they were obvious, everyone has seemed pretty willing to re-explain or clarify, so yes, I do feel liek you are being a bit condescending here considering you have no personal experience with how I play. You say a simple look back, but I have been awake for 20+ hours at this point, and I'm not reading through the entie thread in order, I'm doing individual ISO's-- I was in the middle of Hallia's when I asked those questions.

Can you point me to the post in which Sili, you or anyone else mentioned that Shad hadn't posted yet, so there was nothing to read on him yet? And if there was nothing to read, then I still find it odd that Sili was trying to read him.

I feel like you are judging me really harshly right off the bat, and considering I'm literally the newest person here, not sure how I feel about it, since you have otherwise been oddly tolerant of everyone else from VS.

 

And I'd like you to elaborate more on my final question to you, so I'll rephrase it-- with Hallia and Zander defending Sili for/with what seem to be superficial reasons, do you think this could be alignment indicative, or possible signs of either masons or a scum team?

 

 

It sort of bothers me that I keep getting so harshly judged when at least I'm trying. I don't mind if you disagree with an analysis--- but I haven't made one yet.

I don't mind if you want to question me, or think something I am doing is scummy, such as if my arguments make no sense, or I'm lurking, or doing something scummy.

 

But I'd really like it if my team actually tried to help me for once learn how to figure things out, instead of making me feel like I should be doing better just because they expect one thing and I'm not delivering fast enough.

Okay, let me rephrase. I know that I can probably sound harsh, but that's not really my intent. I thought you were reading the game in order and not through ISOs, so that changes things.

 

I'm not trying to discourage you, believe me. From my POV, reading the thread in order makes your questions easily answered. Since I know now that wasn't you're doing, I recant my statement. I'd suggest you don't rely so heavily on ISOs and look at things in context as well. It'll help you a lot imo.

As far as your question goes, I hadn't considered Masons. Nor would I, in most circumstances, considering their rarity here. What I do see is me calling out Sili for weird posts and Zander going out of his way to tell me I'm wrong while also maintaining a neutral stance on Sili. So yes, I can see this as possible scum partners.

 

I never actually pointed out that Shad hadn't posted, nor did anyone else. I did point out that Seph wasn't playing (the original read Sili made) and then asked him later if he was making a typo when he repeated himself. If anything I was giving him the benefit of the doubt on the matter, but I think my questioning to nearly all his other posts should indicate my interest in him.

I agree with AJ that Sirren seems towny, and I will give AJ a town read as well. Lenlo seems to be towny, and I think Hallia's early comment that Sili seems town probably makes her more likely to be town as well.

 

Zander is sorta overdoing the whole "commenting while reading"-thing this game, and half the time I don't understand why it was necessary for him to comment on the post he was commenting on. I'm not sure how to feel about Kat yet, but I'll give her the benefit of the doubt. I'll also say that from my experience with Princess I think she's probably town this game.

This is what was making me feel judged, and I took it ore personally than I normally would have. :| Did the same thing last game, don't know why I'm being sensitive to this kind of response-- however, that wasn't an "emo reaction"... emo reactions are for people who sit pouting over people not liking them and teenagers.

I was genuinely offended and crying, because I have now gone from everyone telling me I am overthinking things to having someone tell me that I need to "think more" before I bother posting...

Implying that I hadn't put much thought into what I had posted, which considering the fact that I stayed up extra late just to respond and work on reading isolated individuals along with the thread, hurt.

 

It felt like "Why am I even bothering if this is the reaction I'm going to get for it?"

So, I've never explained how I do my reads to anyone explicitly, but I feel like that might be causing some confusion as I start trying to expand my strategy for playing.

 

First, I do a read-through to catch up.

Second, I do a re-read to see how I feel about everyone.

Third, I do an initial list, both to help me organize ISO, and to help me and others visually see where I am at that point (gets reactions, allows meto hear opinions that either agree or disagree, and allows for info I missed to be pointed out)

Fourth, I do the ISO's. Now this is where I've started to be a bit different, and I'm asking questions that are popping up as I notice patterns between differnt people's ISO's, interactions and opinions. Before, I would set those questions to the backburer to ask later, and completely forget them by the time I got through all the ISO's. :\

After my ISO's, I re-read the thread in order and compare it to my ISO's, to see if the things I noted in the ISO's change, are explained, or are further cemented.

 

I then post my official reads and start posting ISO's with questions.

 

This is how I find patterns and inconsistencies, as well as see how individuals are interacting with each other in a more exclusive light that can be diluted by other posts when reading JUST straight through.

 This was the point I was making though, and perhaps I should have provided quotes myself-- you did push him about the flub, and his response was :

I thought I was reading Shad, but no I got mixed up. I was talking about Seph on page 1, but no that's null.

Which to me reads as "I had wanted to read Shad, but got him mixed up with someone else." Looking at it again, I can see what you meant irt it being him reading someone and thinking it had been Shad, without the intent to be reading just Shad.

It's still wierd though, that his confusions is so consistent and persistent, which is why I wondered about him being defended by others.

I have no idea about the rarity of masons, or any other character tbh, I just remember from the other thread I just signed up for that their game set-up would include mason's and goons, as well as a doctor and other roles I am more familiar with, and didn't want to discount the possibility here.

About AJ I am worried that he might be a wolf and fool me, therefore a slight town lean. It's his constant being in the thread and answering questions and leading the conversation that leads me to believe that he's town here, not that he agrees with me.
