If by contradiction, you mean the "unless you're mafia" caveat....it really doesn't make sense to me from any POV.  If I'm town, I don't think I would ever tell somebody to stop tunneling me unless they were mafia.  If I'm mafia, I already would know they're not and can accept their "tunnel" (or lack thereof, in this case) actually HAS merit so it wouldn't be a natural response for me at all. I guess if someone knew the other person wasn't going to stop and wanted a reason to OMGUS...?

What celeste said was "unless you think it's actually scum me." Which I take to mean, do not tunnel me unless you have a reason to.

 

 Yeah, but I still have trouble fitting that with either mindset.  If she's going to be that pissed about Liz tunneling her, does it really matter whether Liz believes Celeste is mafia?  And why would Celeste ever believe that Liz is going to deliberately tunnel her if she DIDN'T think she was mafia?

 

Actually, having read through this conversation, I think I know what she's getting at. In which case, lecture mode is coming on... Once upon a time there was a game called True Love II on PerC. After determining that Lassie (aka penny aka celeste aka alette) was town, I decided to use her as bait for scum. However, that backfired because she became extremely paranoid and wouldn't take my hints (or what eventually had to turn into blatant reassurances) that I was not actually trying to get her lynched and she took the first chance she got to get me mislynched during that game. There's other  history too, but we don't have to get into all of that... The point is, that I can see where her statement about me "actually tunnelling her" only if I think she's scum could be her being sensitive and paranoid that I might try to use her that way again. In which case: Lassie - you're going to have to get over it. That's all I'm going to say on that. When you're playing mafia, stuff happens. You are going to get suspected for stuff and get called scum. My job is to try to figure out your alignment. Your job is to figure out mine. So you feeling hurt because I suspect you right out of the gates is not helpful if you're town. If you want to know what I really thought when I made that statement: you pinged me wrong. Your catchup comments rang false to me, which is why I called you out. Was it enough for me to switch my vote for you? No. It was enough for me to want to see how you'd respond. I will admit that this lecture is partially unfair because you didn't stay stuck on the issue, it was other people (like Zander...gonna get to that after I catch up some more) who were pushing you to fight me on it, so that's progress from the last time. But it annoys me, to be honest, that you're making this an issue at all. If you expect me to treat you with kid's gloves this game because of your reactions in the past, then no. That's not me doing my job. If you're scum, then you should know that this type of emotional manipulation doesn't work on me. Either way I'm not going to stop poking if I feel something needs to be poked. So you're going to have to figure out how to deal with that. (And I do love you which you know, so consider this to be a tough love lecture that hopefully can end right here :hug:)

 

I'm not expecting you to treat me with kid gloves, what I did expect was if I pinged to you that you would say it's straight up pinging instead of simply saying "scum!lassie :sad:" which is us not understanding each other right away because of phrasing.

 

If you haven't taken the time to understand my play style and approach by now, then I really don't know what to tell you. 'But you trying to keep yourself from getting too mired in this muck are points in your favour.What do you think of Zander?

 

It's a learning process Liz one that I won't rush from our talks on mafia. Zander is null, him digging into this is bringing up different scenarios of his alignment. (Basically I see either alignments in different scenarios)

 

Can you explain this further, please?

Oh, she Celeste is saying that Liz did not seem to have a reason to suspect he so i was just a gut read which Celeste objected to, but even though she generally does not like to be tunneled, she conceded that she could not object to a tunnel which had some backing in logic.

Once he got his role he continued to show his laidback mafia behavior instead of trying to scum hunt. It's just with the little I'm seeing.

What I want to know is why people aren't talking more about other people's reactions to the "Liz/Celeste" thing.

 

I feel like a broken record, but: what do you think of Zander's push on Celeste but lack of push on you for essentially the same thing (although, from my perspective, more potentially egregious on your part since I actually threw a vote at you).

also @ clov. I found the lainey thing. I say that her entrance wasn't normal, which it wasn't I said nothing about tone anywhere in there. so if you are going to critique me, at least stop critiquing the things that are not even there.

On Celeste and whether I believe her, well I am sort of indifferent. It would seem like she overthought Liz, which lead to this thread dynamic.  Could have happened as either alignment, but I have no reason to suspect she is a wolf for it.  A wolf generally overthinks things when they are nervous but Celeste is not nervous. Her attitude is not withdrawn or shy, probably. Her reactions seem to be spontaneous. I guess it is possible she did a mental flip but I find that is uncommon, probably. End of the day, she added the caveat because she thought it was justification for a tunnel, or because she wanted to act open-minded.

I haven't read like the last several pages, since page 18, but what I thought of clov's posts (since clov asked) was that I empathized with his logic but felt I needed more detail. Like it is clear to me Seph was super serious, but I don't necessarily think that is scummy. Like it sort of depends on his state of mind, so right now I'd rather lynch celeste because I just did not get her responses and when that happens the person is 7/10 times a wolf.

If Celeste is scum this game then she's taken her game to a whole 'nother level. She can be sneaky as scum, but I don't see her current play as being within her scum range (yet...she'll probably try to copy it after this game :P)

 

From the multiple conversations we've had on the topic, I honestly don't think she actually understands how I town read her, so I don't think she's actually pulling a fast one here. And it would be a dangerous scheme to try to pull the wool over my eyes in a way that's almost guaranteed to get her scum read by almost everyone else who doesn't know her well.

I get Townies tend to get annoyed more often them Scum but it doesnt mean Scum don't.

 

But that aside what do you think of her not addressing the read itsellf but just talking about past history?

 

I guess my problem here is that it wasn't a vote but a read.  People as either alignment will drop votes especially early for a variety of reasons, like jokes, reaction tests, pressure etc.  But Liz gave a Scum read based on nothing and Penny brushed it aside and doesn't address the read nor try to garner Liz reasoning for doing so.
