Here is what we need to look for.

 

RTE was scum. RTE was scummy. There is a good chance mafia figured out he was the symp.

 

Rey flipped the lynch onto Zander and then people didn't want to lynch RTE because :???:. The possibility that mafia were setting him up kept coming up. Why? Did his D1 just disappear?

 

We go back and look at who didn't want to lynch RTE all of a sudden for reasons that had nothing to do with RTE.

I've never had to look for a symp. (Autocorrect fixed)

 

How do you tell the difference between a symp and a scummy townie?

 

 

I've never had to look for a symp either, and I suppose you can't always tell the difference.  But mafia have a much smaller POE to work from in the first place.

Eldrick i wouldn't mind seeing your ISO on Shad. I'm behind quite a few pages right now though so idk what's been posted. Having a bit of an anxious day, trying to stay calm and away from mafia as much as I can because I can't focus and that's no good for y'all.

 

It's not me I'm worried we'll have to look into our claimed roles if the unclaimed end up not holding all the scums. Ugh but that's definitely not something we need to worry about yet.

I don't think scum was looking for a symp. Mafia teams generally aren't told on DM. Basically, when symps were normal, we might put a code word in the qt to see if the symp posted on thread to call out to the team, but symps haven't been common in a while from what I can tell

#146 - Shad thinks John is town. 
#169 - Eldick votes Shad to kick things off in the early game, because "I don't trust Shad."
#172 - Eldrick says he's been "fooled by Shad twice, and badly." Says he doesn't trust him. "I need other people to give me a town read on him before I consider it myself." [This is a nice little smokescreen devolving him of any actual responsibility in critically assessing his team-mate Shad.]
#178 - When Turin challenges him on the above point, (labelling Shad a wolf because he's been a good wolf in other games), Eldrick says he's bad at reading him (#180) but then takes a step back from his earlier assertion, and says he isn't saying he is a wolf either (#181) [The game of flip-flop begins].

#220 - Eldrick says its a good look for Shad that they both agree John is town (c.f. #146). He unvotes Shad.
#223 - Agin though, he has to qualify him moving his vote, so in his very next post, Eldrick says he doesn't like John's push on Zander.
#228 - Tsuki has come out and says he thinks Shad and I are teammates over an innocuous comment Shad made about enjoying playing with me. Neutral comment, light-hearted. Eldrick feels the need to come out and defend Shad, saying he felt it was a null comment at most. [Don't really think defence was needed here].
#298 - Lenlo gets on Eldrick's comment about Shad (#172). Shad comes to his defence, sayings his statement is null.
#305 - Shad defends Eldrick, because he doesn't really remember "scum!Eldrick" playing the way he's playing. Thinks scum!Eldrick lacks awareness when he's mafia [Lol].
#320 - When Shad gets called out for asking questions instead of stating his own opiinions, he replies "Shad gonna Shad imo."
#388 - Eldrick revisits the comment he made at #228 in defense of Eldrick, and says he wasn't trying to discredit Tsuki's suspicions of Shad, just trying to understand it. [Feels like a U-turn, i.e. I totally wasn't trying to defend Shad here].

#419 - Eldricks says he liked the fact that Shad and he both noted John as town straight away, but now think he may have misinterpreted him. "Not sure how I feel about him."
#507 - Shad is pleased that Alanna thinks Eldrick is a towny townie.
#605 - Shad includes Eldrick on his list of town. 
#617 - RTE includes both Eldrick and Shad as both town on his list.
#757 - Eldrick likes Shad's game so far, but he can't help but be skeptical about him. [@Mafia QT: Bro, you're saying you like me too much in the thread, gotta throw out the suspicions].
#843 - Eldrick is now feeling good about Shad. [More flip-flop than a Magikarp].
#891 - Eldrick now says Sahd is one of his town reads. He apparently "hasn't done anything scummy this game."
#1000 - Shad returns the love, says Eldrick has been villagery this game, and he will hard defend him.
#1012 - Shad agrees with Eldrick that Dice and I aren't a team.
#1128 - Shad thinks Eldrick is solid.
#1277 - Suddenly, RTE drops Shad from being green to orange on his list. No explanation given or asked for.
#1389 - Shad misses the D1 deadline.

#1448 - Eldrick proposes his theory that RTE is unlynchable.
#1465 - Turin thinks that Eldrick and Shad might be on a team. Eldrick balks at this, says he and Shad are independent. 
#1467 - Turin says its one thing in particular that is making him think Shad and Eldrick are a team. Says it isn't worth mentioning until Shad flips.
#1468/9 - Eldrick now comes across as being in a panic, wants to know Turin's reason. "Let's say hypothetically that Shad flips." [Mafia QT: Bro, Turin's onto us].
#1471 - Eldrick again asks what Turin's one point is. Says he thinks Shad is town.
#1827 - Eldrick says Shad is town.
#1840 - Shad lists Eldrick as being town.
#1852 - Eldrick then responds by asking him how he's featured more green on his list than Turin. [Mafia QT - Bro, take it easy with the love]
#1854 - Shad replies that Eldrick and Alanna are "pure reads that I feel confident in."

#2054 - Eldrick likes the content Shad has made. He defends Shad against Alanna.
#2058 - Alanna says she doesn't buy Shad is town. Says she'll vote Shad or me.
#2160 - Eldrick backs down, votes for me.

Then we have the latest quotes were they finally go at each other. Maybe finally clock on that there has been little but support between them the whole game, as the field gets narrower.

I think it all makes quite the screenplay.

Oh.  Are they just a sort of 3p that wins with scum then?  I assumed they had some recruit mechanic because that's how they worked in the last game I played off-site.

I recognize you haven't played here in ages so you don't know who has meta on who, but I've seen Eldrick play five times just this year and he's one of the easiest people to read on DM. If it looks too easy it's because it's really easy.

Well, I was just starting to go through how players reacted to RTE at the start of D2. I guess it's a waste of time if mafia weren't likely to know about him anyway. :\

That would make quite a screenplay. For most of the game I really did think he was town. He's really good at pocketing me, which is why my initial comment about him, and why I said I would need other people to help me figure him out. It's why I asked for other people to give me their reason he was scum (to which the answer I got back was his tone).

 

If he does flip scum, which I feel like he will right now, I will accept my inevitable mislynch as a fair 1-1 trade.

#617 from RTE is still AWFUL and scummy. Reads as mafia popping in to drop a vote on Zander, which is the direction the lynch is going in at the time, even though he states that he was town reading Turin previously. No mention of v/v potential, just "one of them is scum, vote: Z"
