It is disturbing that the best answer we have is to post less, and there is not any motivation to think of a better solution. If this is a real issue, there are solutions out there. The simplest one is to learn to pick out important information instead of asking for a compromise.

Sili it's just an effort to openly discuss ways to make things more manageable for everyone playing. Obviously we're lacking players, we have games that sit in sign ups for months because people just can't handle the volume anymore.

We can limit volume a little and still have valuable games

We're not saying cut back content, but the spamming and unnecessary talk to be more inclusive. I see nothing wrong with that..

That's cutting back content, or a type of content. Call it what it is. Maybe it's not worth a lot to you, but to me it helps me engage with the thread.

Compromises are silly, non-additive, anti-fun, and counter-productive.

And this isn't attacking anyone's playstyle because everyone is valid, but it's trying to get more people in, and those here to be perhaps more concise with their thoughts..

The rep idea is good but it would turn into a popularity contest I think, which is generally what happens and might harm the game more than help it. Secondly, not everyone reads things the same way so the rep system would result in repping that maybe isn't even paid attention to, or isn't helpful like it should be. Besides some people slip up or make mistakes and volume sometimes conceals that but with reps, that could make it too easy to go back if the intention is to drown out the other team. Additionally who reads the thread and who just reads the highlighted posts? If playing Mafia were that simple, just show up and read other people's cliff notes, the quality of play would decrease.

I think theres a pretty easy way to solve this and I believe its been mentioned but in a nutshell:

2 types of games:

With and Without Post Count restriction:

If in the same sign up/rules the Mod decides if they wanna run a game with or without a post count.

If there is a post count restriction the onus is on high volume players to either not play or play knowing what they signed up for.

If there's not a post count restriction the onus is on the low volume/busy players who want to play to commit to keeping up or not sign up.

I mean we (obv myself included) to try and keep it toned down some.  And in some games thats gonna work and some times its not, but with the PC guidelines stated in the rules no one should have any reasons to complain.

I think moderator's choice is good but we should start with self control first. Zander's first game where he was told not to be post leader was really good for Zander content wise and more manageable for everyone. I'm not calling Zander out, but saying that it's possible and to still have a great game. But racing each other to be top poster is what gets us in this situation.  We went from 40 page games total to 40 pages in one RL day and for someone like me who WANTS to play mafia, it's really hard to keep up with something like that and it sucks when everyone just tells you to get over it and play the game when you're constantly catching up and never able to provide RT content.

I mean this is something everyone has talked about whether in a forum or among themselves.

And its pretty obvious by those discussions and this thread there's no way that's gonna please everyone completely.

My suggestion is pretty basic and no one can complain that the didnt know what they were getting themselves into imo,

Doesn't have to turn into a popularity contest. It doesn't need to be like reputation points. It can be framed different.

If you had the 'highlight' feature require a certain percentage of the players in the game to vote on the same post, then highlighted posts can be guaranteed to be important in the sense it's important to a lot of people.

If it's not paid attention to then volume is non-issue, which is fine.

If wolves need to rely on people not reading then that is poor. Plus our threads are sometimes hundreds and hundreds of pages long. Practically unreadable. A highlight system may just barely make it readable.

There will always be more value in reading every post and that will still be done, but if people can get more out of their time/s I think that's +ev.

I havent been the post count leader since!!!!

lololololololol

But yes Im working on cutting down on some fluff as every high volume player needs to, but also not gonna take the all the fun from it away either,

Mods decide and players sign up accordingly.  That way there's no one to blame but yourself.

I just want to play mafia with my friends and I want everyone to get along and have fun and that's really not too much to ask if we have to find a way to be more inclusive of everyone, you know? I don't feel it's a compromise =/

It may be a worthwhile compromise, but I am too burnt to recognize that.

Or even just.. like... /think/ before you post.

I always stop. Edit. Reread. Edit. Post.

My posts tend to come out much more concise and easy to read and follow than some others.

And CARE about the mobile users.

That's really just all I have to say I guess
