I've been paying attention to the whole Nolder/Zander exchange and to me it looks like a huge miscommunication. I'm aware that I'm going to have to change my vote tomorrow and it will probably come down to one of these two, or my son. I honestly don't know what I'll do yet. Zander does seem scummier to me, but Nolder has done some things that seem scummy, too. And, no, I don't see a gambit there. 

Well... I gave you the chance. If you get me lynched and I flip town, your push on me will look bad because you're not looking OUTSIDE of me. It is NOT townie behavior to literally push at one person as scum and not be looking elsewhere as well. I'm literally town and I'm sorry that you find my play scummy but this is how I always play. I reached out to you and you're not listening so I'm just going to ignore your pushes from this point forward and move on to proper scum hunting.

I can only imagine you playing with Calder, he literally CLAIMS MAFIA in the games he plays. Are you going to lynch him every time just because he claims mafia? Probably so. Do you know how many times you'll actually lynch him as mafia? Probably 20-25% if he claims mafia every game and only rands it 20-25% of the time. Your reasoning on why I am scum is inherently flawed because scum and town will literally do ANYTHING and you can't SAY that one thing or another is scummy unless it's something I always do as scum or always do as town. Zander, what do you think Sooh gains by backing off of you as a wolf? You are already under the spotlight due to your change in playstyle and overall personality. You are an easy push at the moment, I think. So what does she gain by backing off when she could just power through with her reasoning? Do you think it's because she didn't get the support she thought she would from the town?

 

Also, I'm a little frustrated right now, because I'm starting to think that Lily is town due to her responses and this push at me is frustrating if she's town because I would rather have her with me than against me. I'm not sure if I should ignore this or try to turn her around atm. =/

It doesnt matter what she gains from or gains nothing.  Her case was horrible and couldnt validate anything she brought up same as Nolder.  She was prolly thinking she'd gain more traction with it then she did.  Either her continuing with it or backing off was gonna look bad but she prolly chose the better option imo.

 

Lily could be Town.  She doesnt seem to be buying what you are selling regardless of how I feel about it.  I still havent been able to shake her earlier play with the vote switches and such but I have players I feel more strongly about pursing atm that have a greater likelihood of being scum imo.

You do you.  It comes down to this.  Listen to what people say and decide how you feel about it.  Just keep an open mind and look at all the possibilities before determining what you think is right.  Just be prepared for how people are gonna assess you for the choices you make.

 

Scum worry more about what they say, how the say it and how it looks.  Townies only jobs are to Town Tell and Lunch the Wolves and are generally much less afraid of how the are perceived.  Of course there are exceptions to every rule.

I'll have to go back and reread. I don't remember what your miscommunication was about. It just seemed that you weren't understanding each other. At least, that's my general impression. In case it isn't already obvious, I have a terrible memory. 

 

I already think you are scummy, and have been suspicious of you since your "joke." I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt, and not voting you, but it still doesn't sit well with me. And then there's the buddying. 

 

I think Eld says what he's thinking at the time, and isn't afraid to say when those thoughts change. This doesn't change with his alignment, unless he's changed since I played with him years ago. He has always come across to others as scummy. I'll admit, he has fooled me. I won't vote him this early, in spite of that. I want time to see him in action beyond day 1.

Intentions. If you see someone do something and can only see the reasons for why scum would do that, that's possibly scummy behavior and I would push and prod a little and see how they react. Or even inconsistencies, odd behavior, lack of content or involvement. It's not necessarily "what do scum do?" because scum will literally do anything, but what would this person do in this particular instance and are they trying to do it for alternative reasons than what a townie would? Then you can ask, what would a townie do, what is a townie mindset? If you're town, you know what you're thinking. This is how I know people are townies sometimes because they have the same thought process as me. If I can understand that thought process, and i see that someone else is straying from that processes and is angling for something different, they might be scum. It's not like there's a yes/no here that determines who is scum and who is not, unfortunately.

Which is what I'm doing with you and Nol. I'm a little overwhelmed here. I have to learn how to play mafia all over again with different "rules?" How is that fair? 

 

Don't worry, I'll see more scummy stuff once we have a train or two to look at. I'm better at train analysis than I am at reading people. 

 

What I don't get (I mean that sincerely) is why Alanna is so concerned over my one vote. I haven't tried to win others to my pov, and nobody else is voting her. Where I come from, one vote is nothing to worry about. Focusing on your train of one vote (is that even a train?) is also scummy. But apparently not here anymore..... I'm a little lot lost.

Lily, I'm not really that worried about your one vote and that's why I was trying to brush it off. But two days have passed and you're still voting me and I don't see you going after anyone else. That makes you complacent or a wolf. By interacting with you I'm starting to think you're not a wolf and so I'm appealing to you to get you on my team so that we can lynch wolves together rather than have a go at each other every chance we get. Does that work for you?

 

It's not like mafia has changed, it's still the same thing: lynch the wolves and win. It's just that DM mafia has grown up a bit and the focus is more "find townies, reduce your POE. Those left by process of elimination are probably wolves, so lynch them." It's also heavily centered in meta, but its not the only way to find scum, just a method. Some people are easier to read than others and if I can use meta to plop them in my town core earlier and then work on other players, I'm damn well going to do that rather than wasting my time looking for inconsistencies in everything they say.

Loss of coherentness? She's been sick, I'm taking that into account right now which is skewing my read a little bit. But you're right in saying she had nothing to substantiate her case against you. I'm not getting it, at least. lol. But I think sick town Sooh could have gone against you like that and then clear-headed Sooh backs off when she realizes she ain't got nothing.
