I don't assume that all contradictions/sudden read changes are scummy.  I look at the particular situation.

 

You're either town who called Laine town, changed your mind without telling us, called for a CFD on a group which included her without naming her, and then made the adjustment explicit the next day, or you are scum who didn't put much thought into my question and when I called you out on it pointed to a cya clause.

 

The former is possible.  I don't have a compelling reason to believe it is more likely.
