There was one game we played once with Salami where we were allowed outside communications. Salami, Verbal, Lee and I were in a PM convo with him (all town) and the entire time he was basically keeping records of stuff and letting us do all the dirty work for him. So it's not uncommon for him as town to let others lead him.

I don't know if it's occurred to anyone, but what wombat and clovdyx are doing is fishing for a wagon. They aren't genuinely concerned with whether csarmi is scum. What they need is a scapegoat to fill a sinking boat, so they're doing their best to exacerbate some sketchy but not altogether unreasonable play for a town.

Salami, was Hallia a strong town read of yours or not? You can't have it both ways.

This.

Oh let's mix up the order of events right?

Something you need to know, but should already know is I am boastful and confident until i make mistakes. And I do make them but not enough to warrant a change in personality.

What csarmi said was predicated on you knowing him very well. In the off-chance you flip town, csarmi would be the next on my list.

I would prefer to investigate him by the way. I don't think being wrong necessitates a kill.

I know him well.  I can't read his mind.  Assuming the town is dumb enough to go along with lynching me, I will flip town.

Scooby game?  That was a bit of a unique situation.  Salami really got into his archivist thing.  But you might be right about him in general.  I haven't thought of him as someone who sheeps much in the past, but I don't remember him being very aggressive early either.

I'm conflicted about Salami because he is just as likely to shoot himself in the leg as town. Our earth logic does not match salami logic. So, I rather go with my more confident scum leans today. ie Clov or Hallia. That's my two cents.

It's absolutely unreasonable play for town.  When "That post I made was a town post!" is the BEST defense you have going for yourself, that's a bad sign.  When you willingly admit to abandoning your own reads to follow sheep somebody else's, it's a bad sign.  When every post you make seems to contradict the way the game has gone....it's a bad sign.

The fact you're trying to discredit people for this conclusion looks a lot worse for you than it does for us IMO because I see ZERO reason for reading him as town.  And no, I'm not going to give him the benefit of the doubt because he blew up and self voted after minimal pressure a few hours into the game.

Then why did you mention defending strong town reads in post 1508?  Was that just an extraneous aside?

This is garbage.  I'm just following scummy behavior.  And don't link me to Clov.

Don't say that, Clov is a fine catch.

Honestly, about this I'm just seeing a lot of bullheadedness from you two. you generalize and antagonize and capitalize to express your points with pointed and jarring deductions. It's a type of language meant to reduce and convince on emotional grounds rather than empirical ones.

I don't like it.

@AJ - I explained that in detail. I wanted to have a better read on Hally myself and it was evident to me (and should be for people who know Hally) that the way Despo been doing it was never gonna work in fact it should have the opposite effect.

Okay.

Still unsure why you reacted the way you did though, arguing over semantics and what not.

I hate when people say black is white. Also semantics might matter where people use call words like that to mean scummy.

I didn't white knight or defend... Whatever those mean. (They seem to have a negative connotation... I think that's BS BTW you should always defend your strong town reads but whatever)

<--- these are not connected

2 separate line of thoughts well the connection is what i describe below... You should defend your town reads. Hally is not one there.

I helped or mediated. It was necessary.

Or as Hally put it I acted like a catalyst.

There is not just a word of difference but a world of difference. I'm pretty sure you would see it and I have already pointed out but here it goes:

You should always help when things are going wrong. That's one of your jobs as a townie. Things were going wrong here. From what I knew of Hally and her situation and the way they interacted on the thread right there I was sure that the way Despo was questioning her was not helping. Not helping to read Hally and not helping Hally's WIM.

Defending is a different thing entirely. Defending someone makes sense when you are quite sure of their alignment (either via mechanical reason (masons, cop read, you being scum and having TMI or via reads). When Despo and others were pressing my button by repeating that I was defending her obviously they meant this AND the TMI version obviously. Despo even pulled my behaviour of defending Tress last game as scum... Except I had a very strong town read on her (aside from my scum role pm lol) so I defended her.

See the difference?

Tell me what is towntelling about his posts.

I also find it...... weird..... that despite my stance on him he's still townreading me and allegedly willing to follow my lead. He prolly knows that buddying me won't do him any good.

Correct. I'm town reading you cause

A) your posts make sense to me

B) you have belief in what you're saying

C) it is apparent to me that you do try to figure out my alignment (genuine)

I'm happy to follow you cause:

A) you're my strongest town read

B) you are a GOAT when it comes to towning

C) your case makes sense and reinforce my impression

Don't worry I won't follow you everywhere and I will point out when I think you're taking the wrong direction.

Why don't you make, and take responsibility for, your own decisions?

I did. I had a stron enough read on Womby to move there.
