I define bussing as the intent to lynch a teammate (via voting them) to make yourself look townie.  I define distancing as potentially just FOSing them, questioning them, or even a vote.....but not with the certainty of obtaining a lynch on a teammate for town cred.  I understand they are similar, and some probably feel they are the same.  To me, there is a slight difference - distancing is bussing-lite.  Usually done early on and well before any actual bus attempt is made.

Fair enough. I was wondering why you were splitting hairs. Though I would caution that a "distancing" post could easily become a "bus" if other Townies hop on the wagon. So I guess I probably use those terms interchangeably, as I did with you and Nolder.

The most I can think right now is that I believe you have Krak too high up.  Other than that, I'm cool.

I think this kind of intro post is >rand to come from scum because they're self-conscious and responding to others offers an easy way to break the ice.  It's something I really try not to do in my own game.

 

 

Look at the 2 people I'm talking to in that post.  2 of my oldest friends on this site - I have literally been friends with both for 7+ years.  I have not played in a mafia game with Barm in a few years, and if you haven't seen Nyn take potshots at me yet, you're blind.  I'm not going to ignore her potshotting herself, dude.

 

3)You are a distraction.  4)You are taking my 1st post of the game, with 0 game content, and trying to somehow transform that into a scum tell.  5)Here's a question:  do you think ScumVerbal would be more likely to ignore that from you and hope it goes away, or attack it head-on and draw further attention to it?  6)Keep in mind that practically half the game has acknowledged your "find" was pretty poor......yet you seem unable to find the awareness to admit this to yourself.

Notice how I've barely touched on my response to you and have instead focused my energy on what's surrounding it.  So when I say that the second paragraph of your post is almost entirely overdrawn, know that I think I'm 100% defensible here.  Maybe I've been drawn down the rabbit hole, but I found your first post scummy.  I have given my reasons but I didn't do it right away and allowed Mish and a few others to put words into my mouth because I didn't want to engage directly with what I said.  I was hoping to avoid a confrontation for a little bit longer, but whatever.  I thought there was a solid chance that, like you said, that my "find" was pretty poor, but it didn't really matter because I was more interested in what happened next.  Also someone can make a "scum tell" and still be town, so I wasn't going to vote you straight off because of that.  Leelou and Nyn immediately came in after Nolder's agreement/vote and starting trying to rile everyone up and get after Nolder, clearly defending you with zero defensible ground and it made me wonder why.  I figured there could be a good chance that Leelou decided to white knight you knowing you're town and using her well-known VerbLove to mask her intentions.  In fact, before your above post I was reading you as town.  I really don't like that post though, it just reads as 100% ass backwards.

Ok.  So you're saying that when I was the first one to call attention to the fact that I didn't like Leelou's response to me......and given that it is well known that I'm a excellent reader of Leelou.....it looks like I may have been distancing there?

 

If yes, then ok.  My response to this would be that mid-D1 is a little risky to be creating pressure on your 1 teammate, especially given it was before they were a real lynch contender.
