The item Meeko, steals items and eats them yes? Well if you eat the apple you die. Thus if you buy and apple and never use it, it just sits in your inventory. Then when someone uses the Meeko they eat everything including your unused apple, thus killing them.

 

It makes Meeko to risky to use.

 

But it doesn't work that way. Meeko eating the apple would not kill them. That's the point of Meeko.
