The DO

We always hear the DO. And that is it, not much more of a description. Except when you go close to the seal of the bore you can hear his/it's voice.

How do you think the DO looks like? Is he just a giant spirit, an invisible presence that is overpowerring. Will he take the appearence of a human avatar or monster avatar when he breaks free?

Something like Lord Foul? (Covenant's Chronicles of Thomas Covenant...lots of love/hate about these series. Well written, some plot holes, dark in tone and the title character is an anti-hero i.e. the opposite of Rand alThor.) Or Sauron...

See QotW and a blog entry about how RJ thinks of the DO.

I always think of the Great Lord as a formless spirit that represents all that is hated in feared in a persons mind. Thus he will take on a form most loathsome to each person he encounters.

sweet. i love donaldson. exactly because he's someone you don't like but have to root for.

his "gap" series was pretty intriguing in the way it was written too.

i think of the DO was having no corporeal form.

I always thought of the DO in his entirety as not having a defined body. But when his followers go to the Bore I always thought of him in the same sense as Sauron after the ring has been severed from his hand.
