I was thinking the same thing. Your explanation why you targeted Hallia also makes sense, even though it's filled with WIFOM. I guess it was the best lead you had.

Anyway, I've put scum in a delightfully difficult position:

 

If we lynch down my list, they're dead by D3. One of Despot or Hallia will apparently counter-claim me in the next day or two, because there's no available avenue left for them to win the game, particularly with a jailkeeper still safe somewhere. 

 

The less WIFOM gullible players like Cloud, Salami and Peace should be enough to lock this game down.

This is the post that made me think Hallia could be the JK. She says she won't be claiming tracker, but the BABABABUMMMM part hints at her having a power role that she can reveal if needed. To my mind this explained why she was so cocky and doing a pretty bad job of navigating the thread and trusted people unequivocally if they buddied her. This post could also be why she was killed, scum interpreted it the same way, since all her death does otherwise is prevent her mislynch, though it's also probably intended to make me look bad.

If she did intentionally make that post as a soft false claim for JC, it was a smart move. It could have been what drew the nk to her, a VT, and away from a possible power role. And though she's kind of a weird choice, it could potentially provide us with a good bit of info, and eliminates her as a possible lynch for today. That's a lot of ifs though; I'm not sure at all that she did it intentionally.

 

Anyway, I really am going for a run now :D I intend to do a full reread when I get back. Look forward to it ;)

That is not for you to determine and these kinds of statement you make repeatedly do nothing to solidfy your towniness.  Actually come across as very scummy, especially how often you repeat them.

I'm doing the proper re-read now, so I'm not gonna chip in too much, but that is the weakest argument I've ever heard. It's a 9 player game. Which means that you have 7 town. If you for some reason can't do a good job for your team, you can do them a real disservice when they mislynch you and lose another member.

Sure. I have some experience playing JK (well, pretending to playing it anyway - in the TinkerTailor game).

 

1) The JK claiming may or may not be a good idea. JK is most dangerous if hidden (as far as role usage goes) and most dangerous as hidden (as far as being a 'named role' being in this setup).

2) The JK can't clear anyone as long as there are at least two wolves alive.

Ok guys..sorry for my absence..working day shifts this week and it's been very difficult to participate from work.  And I don't spend too much time on the puter when at home with my wife.  Not fair to her considering my work schedule.

 

First..I don't see why people are piling on Tommy.  He is aggressive..but not negative aggressive.  Get over it.  It's not like he called anyone a "crappy player" in his first post or anything.  :P

 

I have a ton of mixed reads.  Some who have started out very scummy have turned town, and very town turn scummy.

 

Golden has gone for reasonable succinct player to emotional mess defender of the maiden.

 

Mish has gone from uber scummy to most likely town.  Her failure to claim at l-1 is a town tell to me.

 

Despo is walking the fine line...like he usually does.   I can go either way with him.

 

Tommy...I'm watching for a few things on him.  Not ready to give a read yet.

 

Alanna.  Definitely town.

 

Cloud...coasting which leads me to slight scum.

Here's a question - from a scum POV, what would be the point of pretending to not be familiar with the game setup? So Despo did that just to further his case on Mish? Super sloppy move, since it's a given others will immediately jump on him for making this mistake (as, you know, several people have). I just don't buy it.

 

Classic town-slip type move that scum would make.  There is a great reason for doing it. Playing dumb works.

What do you mean from this statement?  We've played 3 games together.  1 I was scum...and another I pegged you after your 2nd post as scum.  Your being emotional and throwing jabs at people is your flaw and scumtell.  You'd think you'd wrap it up.  It's amazing you give Despo crap about being emo when you are the much bigger queen.

Golden is strange.  Early on he had the opportunity to get emotional with Mish yet didn't.  Then got overly emotional in a defense of Hallia while throwing insults around.  Inconsistent..so why is that?  What is special about Hallia that he needs to play knight in shining armor?

Still, given Hallia's change in play...I think she is scum.  And if she were to flip scum...Golden looks bad.  If she flips town...it's still 50/50 on Golden.

Mostly because of how she took it for granted that others would assume her to be vanilla after she didn't claim. That kind of faulty logic (granted, a town PR will most likely claim at L-1, but a scummer won't) I don't see scum Mish pushing. Plus I'm now thinking Tom was buddying her as town.

My last game I was scum with Golden. He got lynches D1 but was good at distancing from his partners. It helped us win at the end.

But he wasn't particularly good at not being scummy. Someone (I forget who) pegged him almost immediately as scum because he was simply not making sense. The argument was that as town Golden is articulate and well reasoned, as scum he just rams into things.

Which would you say he's doing now? I know my answer.

Tommy, to clear something up.  I was definitely not clearing you with that early post I made.  I was making a joke referencing our little tangle that started off the Christmas game. 

 

On the Golden/Tommy fight.   Tommy is coming across as deliberate and giving concrete reads.   Golden is coming off as emotional and throwing insults. 

 

Town does get emotional often.  Scum are often very logical. 

 

This is the second game where Tommy has buddied me or used my play to support his thesis.  The first game he was scum.  So, although I like a lot of his approach I am wary.

 

I also think both players could be strong town assets. 

 

Better to lynch Hallia instead.

Cloud trying to clear me with that reasoning is very suspect.  Looks more like he is trying to get me on his side after I've already expressed concerns about his alignment earlier in the game.

 

 

Despo..I disagree with you on the CC though.  With only 2 scum, a CC would be appropriate in a small game like this.  It is a good trade..but not until day breaks.

 

If Tommy is not the real tracker..the real tracker should come forward midway through day 2 with who they tracked and the CC.

I'm kinda miffed about Golden being town, because when I lowered my argumentative standard, he dropped right to my level and used my own reasoning against me... that was hard to believe as town, as I have a policy that people whose arguments are wholly hypocritical tend to be scum more often than not, but next game I'll know better.

Have I played with plenty of jerks and assholes? Yeah, and it was partly why I took a year and a half long break from mafia. I'm from an older crowd of players here that didn't really resort to to that kind of play, that didn't feel like we had to go around bulldozing and being jerks and calling people daft in order to scumhunt and play a good game. As I finally settled with Tommy, I'm not totally unwilling to play with players like that, but I don't like it, and I am not afraid to say I don't like it. If Tommy is town, I don't think the way he is playing is helping the town at all, and that's what I wanted him to know.

 

 

He claimed about four hours before deadline. Not sure how you're getting the time wrong. Not only does the timestamp show this, but I was sitting here all evening checking in, so I'm very sure of this. I waited about three hours after he claimed before voting. I was waiting to see what anyone else had to say, or if anyone would CC - though I considered voting right away to keep the real tracker from counterclaiming, as that would have been detrimental. But, not only did no one else CC, no one came in to say anything in those 3 hours. And do you really think I should have lynched an uncontested claimed tracker? Really? I don't even know what to say to that. You're daft, if you really think that would have been a good idea. That's, like, basic. I'm not saying I believe his claim is real, or that he should be immune to lynching in the days to come, but it would have been stupid to lynch him at the last minute like that, without hearing from anyone else.

 

Besides, a smart mafioso would have claimed JC, not tracker. It's an easier to claim to fake.

Barring no CC on Tommy this game can be wrapped up pretty easy.  If there is a CC, this plan is not good and we need that person to step up.

 

We've had the benefit of only Town players being killed.  That means the suspect pool gets real small in a hurry. 

 

If JK also claims. That will give us 2 confirmed.  Pool goes from 7 to 5.

 

If tommy gives us who he tracked and if the JK gives us who they jailed...there is a possibility of clearing 1 or 2 more players.  Taking the pool...possible down to 3 players, though I think the best we can get is down to 4.

To summarize: Despot never went after Peace, and the only time Despot spoke directly to Peace was to laugh at him within the first 20 posts or so.
