He's voting wombat because he finds him aggressive...now I need to go back and reread Wombat. I also want to read Mish because I get the feeling she's been pushing the Wombat train but not voting from this exchange.

 

I see it's already been clarified by others, but I didn't vote Wombat for finding him aggresive, I voted because as far as I could read, his arguments are thin, partly contradictory and very speculative. It's a complicated theory that holds water IF this and this, and IF he somehow knows excatly how everyone else thinks. It's like a conspiracy theory, which is why I mentioned the aggresive tone. It seems more like a cloak to veil the thin base of reasoning, rather than self-assurance in a water-proof theory. It's like a scummy lawyer pointing his finger at everything else to confuse the case, not find scum.

I'm very soon done with D1... I'll wait to post the recap until I'm done with it all. But one thing is for certain. Wombat is so mafia.

Ok, I'll start with my reads and observations of everyone else first, and then I'll post the Wombat-case.

 

1. Peace

I didn't like his initial post where he called me scummy and didn't vote, but the rest of his posts has been solid and very pro-town. My strongest town read right now. And it's very, very rare that I feel this confident in a read on Peace.

2. AJ

He got very defensive after Des' first vote on him. He then later softly buddied me and soft defended himself in a roundabout way. Said on D1 he could vote Ishy, Wombat, Des or me. Never added reasons for that. Put an outlier-vote on Verb 6ish hours before deadline, says he didn't like how the Hoof-train started... Well Ishy started it with the policy-vote BS, but the rest of the votes on Hoof was not based on the same reason. Feels like an iffy way to stay away from a town-lynch. Slight ping, but mostly null read.

5. Verbal

Didn't like him much on D1, too much spam and fluff. Called AJ mafia at the end of the day, but didn't comment on anything else that had been going on for the last few pages. His posts D2 has been more getting into it, so slight town read for now.

6. Pral

This is probably gonna sound extremely rude. But dude, why bother signing up if you're not gonna play? He never voted D1, and his posts are all spam and fluff. Leaning scum, or just useless player.

 

7. GF

Ugh what to say about GF. He never makes sense, and I'm guessing it could be very easy for him to abuse his meta to fly under the radar. But from what I remember of his meta, when he's mafia he actually tries a bit more. The shoddiest thing he has done here so far was the hammer with no reason on Hoof, and early D2 he commented that the kill on Des was probably more that the mafia was scared of Des than misdirection... Null read mostly, but slight ping.

8. Leelou

There's been parts of her play I don't really feel comfortable with, but with her Doc-claim she' got the benefit of the doubt for now.

9. Nikon

Very newbie, although with very, very good intentions (his case on Ishy was good, and his case on me too, although that was a bit overtrumped). Pretty clear town after some of his more noob-ish posts (no offense ment; we've all been noobs).

12. Ishy

Oh Ishy... His only two votes has been policy-type votes. He had two spats with Peace on D1 and Peace came out looking better in both of them. Tried to discredit Peace by bringing up earlier games (irrelevant) and has some major logic fail that Peace points out. He just ignored it when Peace did and moved on. D2 he calls both me and Peace mafia, but never votes any of us. Votes GF instead. Nikon cases him, and he doesn't even comment on it. He's not following up his "reads", he fluffs more than he scumhunts, D1 he parked his vote. Pretty strong scum read. Not as strong as Wombat, but strongest read after him.

On reflection, Mish's reaction to Des' vote was odd, given that it was obviously a joke, and other joke-votes have passed without comment from her.
 
 
But I believe that it is far, FAR scummier for Leelou to NOT be grasping at straws, so I will keep my vote on her.

Looking for more town cred? Pretty stupid statement imo. Now, if your list of players are all town and you are town then you just gave yourself up as a kill target that implicates those 3 players. Youre a NK target all the time anyways when town, you warning about being NK'ed just looks to me like you trying to look more townie. The kind of blatant scumtell you'd call others for you fall prey to as well apparently.

Hoof's reaction did seem pretty meh. He's prob town. But I don't think scum "won" by getting him lynched. It really didn't seem like a joke vote to me, and its silly to try and disguise a joke vote that much, bound to end up making you look bad. And if there was a better lynch today, it couldn't be found cause we spent too much of it dicking around.

 
FYI, I did think your case was weak, but I didn't think it was garbage.  I just wanted to do some hyperbolic reaction testing.  The case was too long for the content and it was mostly meta null tells, but for D1, I've seen a lot worse.

As for my logic, it's pretty complicated, but utterly valid.  The mafia may have been scared of Des, but it certainly wasn't for anything he did yesterday.  His top two were Hoof and Leelou.  Therefore, they had another reason for killing Des.  One that wouldn't have worked on Verbal or me.  I gave 3 scum reads yesterday.  Des, you, and Peace.  That the mafia killed Des shows me that they probably wanted me to move away from my reads by killing a townie who was in them.  They probably figured that they could brush it off as WIFOM.  And that's where they fell for my trap.  If the mafia really wanted to WIFOM it up, they should have killed me.  But I'd already WIFOM'd them so they were scared of doing it.  Because it would be WIFOMing with one of their members' lives.  They also probably thought they could get me lynched if they killed Despo.  Silly of them.  So they tried to hedge by killing one of my reads who had also FoS'd me to make town doubt me.  But that's where they messed up.  If there were no scum in my scum reads (highly unlikely), they should have aimed elsewhere knowing that I would probably continue to press my scum reads.  But they didn't.  Cuz there's scum there.  So at least one of you and Peace is probably scum.  And that's where Monty Hall comes in.  The mafia showed me a goat by killing Despo, so now I'm switching doors and voting you.  And I'm gonna win a brand new car.

And here comes his big theory. Wich is so much BS. 2.  Seeing as I WIFOMed about the mafia killing me and validating my scum reads at night, and both Des and Peace commented on it, I'd say it's pretty likely that played into the mafia decision.  Also, the bolded are huge scumtells.  Nice job dropping them both in one post.  You know as well as anyone that there is nothing that mafia won't do if the circumstances are right, so that's a rubbish WIFOM defense.  As for "grasping at straws" every time I hear that phrase in a mafia game I want to puke.  It's pure spin/rhetoric with no substance.

 
You refuse to consider the fact that mafia could be trying to set us all up. What seems easiest and more logical to you? Occams Razor. But still the easiest explanation is you being mafia and setting this up.

Mish's play so far this game consists of using too many smileys in an effort to appear amiable and not mafia, complaining about inactivity and then disappearing, defending Peace, dropping scumtells, and OMGUSing me.

 
So I'm mafia because I use smileys. Because I mentioned inactivity once. For defending my biggest town read, "dropping scumtells" (care to elaborate on exactly what you mean by that?) and OMGUSing apparantly, even though I hadn't voted him or even FoSed him before this. Uh-huh.

Hard defense of scum is null, as scum usually like to bus at some point.  The Verbal lynch wasn't even that bad as you guys leveraged it for info pretty well.  The sheeping/not contributing was more indicative of effort than alignment in this case imo.  But yeah, you're definitely right that I was biased by knowing that you were town.

 
And this whole exchange *shakes head* Ishy's vote was a policy vote; I was the first to place a proper vote on Hoof, at a time where it would have been easier to place a vote on Leelou (Des' case; it's no secret I often follow Des around early in games and it would have been very easy for me to sneak in a vote on Leelou with that reason).

Ok, just had a reread of the thread

 

• Peace and Ishy - The Peace-Ishy exchange l sounded fine initially but the quickness which it fizzled out does make it feel forced. I mentioned the same few days back. Ishy is being ishy, with his reason-less votes (except for the Day1 vote on Hoof) and he could be pretty much hiding behind his meta
• Mish - I have been getting town vibes from Mish in this game. Her thinking of Peace as confirmed town is just her typical self jumping to conclusions and I don't see anything different in it. Wonbat's explanation does seem far-fetched in this case
• Leelou - claimed doc. Good for now
• Verbal - Has seem a lot playful this game. Last time I saw him not-so-serious was when he was scum. He has mostly been defending against Wombat and never even bothered to address AJ and Peace. To me, he is the top scum candidate as of now
• Wombat - Has pretty good arguments in parts and certain far-fetched one too. Like the one where he talks about Mish's kill of Des. A wombat-verbal tscum team would be deadly, lol
• AJ - I liked his arguments about Verbal and reverbated with what I was thinking. Although, why he suddenly felt Verbal is town when he didn't even address his vote seems questionable
• Nikon, nervositee - both are looking like confused newcomers. I won't discard the possibility of one of them being scum
• GF - leaning town as of now. He has a tendency to jump into votes and it doesn seem like deliberate .

I've maybe played one game with him before, two years ago. So the fact that YOU know and accept this as his regular style? Means absolutely nothing at all to me. For me to place a "policy vote" would require me to be aware of an on-going problem /playstyle, which I'm not. So by all means, keep calling it a policy vote if you like, but when everyone decides to overlook the obvious mischaracterization, don't be surprised.
