Oh my goodness, I am so excited to find this forum! Does that make me a geek? Oh well, I don't care if it does. I love this series. I'm a freak and can read one of Robert Jordan's type of books in a day or so, so when I find a series of books with his quality of writing and with this length I am in Heaven! There aren't many out there that are this quality, individually each book is long, the series is long, the series is finished, and the series is of a great subject matter!

 

When I started reading this series it wasn't finished but I didn't know that. I usually breeze through them and never go back to reading them over again because I have found that I usually get annoyed with the déjà vu feeling. In the past few years I've been suffering from severe migraines though and they have been affecting my memory so while I vaguely remember the story line I don't seem to remember the individual plots in each book. I picked up the first one a few weeks ago and I was pleasantly surprised to realize I didn't have the déjà vu like all the times before. I'm now on book 3 and I do not remember this one at all. I had to download this one as an eBook on my Kindle as the paperback was not in my library collection so if that is any indication I am thinking I may have skipped over this one and gone straight to number four. It makes sense in my twisted little world. It would explain why Eggie's eventual job placement came as a surprise to me like it did. (<--- eh? See what I did there? No spoiler! I'm pretty darn proud of myself... doesn't take much to impress me, eh? LOL)

 

Anyway, I'm psyched to potentially meet some other book geeks like me. This time I'm taking my sweet time and enjoying the read through. I have four kids, two still young and at home with me, so I read while I can. Its also harder to read this book I am on as my kids steal my phone and the Kindle app happens to be on my phone. It just makes the time I get to read all the more special as it's rare.

Hi Kim - Happy Thanksgiving to you! I'm Sarah in real life, Aida usually here. Don't worry at all about being a geek - everyone here is pretty much the same. We all love the books, and talk about different fantasy books and series that we love. 

 

If you are enjoying reading the books and want to talk about all of that we have discussion forums - I am like you and finishing reading the series again before I read A Memory of Light. There is a discussion on that, but they do have spoilers, so if you want to avoid those don't go there  Check out the social forums - I love meeting new people and making friends that like the same kinds of stuff. All the social forums are set up like the books - you can join as many as you want. There are parts to most groups that you can't see unless you join, and most places have fun activities and stuff to allow you to meet people and get to know how each group is run. I belong to the Ogier group, The Band of the Red Hand, The White Tower, and The Black Tower. 

 

If you RP, or are interested in that, there is a big RP community here too. I don't know as much about that because I haven't finished writing my first character yet, so I haven't ever RPed here before.

Here you will find a lot of geeks and we all love books.You can stop by The White Tower or the Black Tower, just make sureyou've read the rules about each society and the fun is guaranteed :big grin:

 

There are two types of communities here - Role Play (RP) where you create a character and roleplay by writing posts within Randland. The other part of Dragonmount (DM) are the social groups where we are who we are in reality - chat, play games, discuss books, etc. So in the Social White Tower a male can become an Aes Sedai and vice versa, in the Black Tower - I for example, am on my way to become an Asha'man (some day), although I am a girl.

Welcome, Caelianix!  I am very happy you have decided to join us and am sure you will find something you enjoy.  I spend most of my time in the social groups.  Each group has it's own focus and you can join as many as you wish.  I belong to the White Tower and Warders.  Please explore as you have time.  Kids can be a handful, I know. :)

Caelianix is a mix of my three Childrens names. My oldest son who is 18 is named Caelan. You pronounce it as Kay-Len. My almost 12yo daughter's name is Eliana but usually goes by Elli. And my youngest boys name is Phoenix who also goes by PJ. I decided to combine them all to a pretty neat nickname. I usually go by my own unique first name and middle name combined but having used that one for the past 20 years I like having some anonymity. ;)

 

I'm looking forward to exploring around here. I haven't really ever gotten into roleplaying before but you never know. I'm kinda worried after hearing about all these rules and 'joining first' requirements. I'm afraid I'm going to mess up somewhere. I've got a lot of reading to do before I start posting I guess. Its a good thing I'm a 'freak reader' as my ex husband used to call me.

Hey - love your name! Don't worry about rules - As long as you notice the DM code of conduct, and don't go crazy posting non-pg 13 material or being mean to people, you probably will be fine. When you join a group, you just get access to boards you don't see when you aren't a member of that group. So you can post now in the public forums for all the social groups, but if you join a group, you will get to access other boards, within that group that other people who aren't part of the group - non members or visitors who don't belong to DM. There are usually classes or some way that each group introduces members to any group rules so you really don't need to worry overmuch about studying if you want to join a group. If you are interested in somewhere - Say, the Band of the Red Hand social group, you can go to their public forum, and they will have a thread that says something like "New and Returning Band Members, Sign up Here!" Then you get greeted and can hang out until you get to see more boards. Its really not too hard or scary or anything. 

 

DM can be a little weird with phones sometimes - probably why your signature looks like that

Welcome! :) Nice to meet you. I remember feeling so very excited when I first found DM too. It was recommended to me by an online friend and I was just like "Holy Smokes this is AWESOME!" You'll find some great people here and everyone is very friendly. If you're confused about anything at all just ask questions.
