A Wheel of Time text-based RPG MUD

Hey, MUDders!

 

A Moment in Tyme has been around since the early 90s and was the first MUD to have Robert Jordan's personal authorization to exist. With almost twenty years of existence, the MUD has seen its highs and lows. And after several years of lows, the publication of the final book has seen a huge upsurge in interest and really brought Tyme back to life.

 

Currently, there are anywhere from 15 - 35 people on. The timeline of the MUD has been moved and now sits just after Book 10 and the Cleansing of Saidin. There is quite a bit of RP to be had, especially among the White and Black Towers, the Band of the Red Hand, the Wolfkin and the Aiel.

The Imms at a Moment in Tyme would like to invite players, both new and old, to join us in creating a new path forward in both our RP and our playerbase.

I played, um, The Creators Shadow and, err... Dragons Fang?

 

I'll have to check this out.

 

Nolder, MUDs are great. It's like DM in a lot of ways...but with more RP, and ever more nerdiness.

 

Until the hipsters start MUDing...then I'll have to stop.

It was through a MUD (Web of Destiny) that I found the Wheel of Time series. They really are a lot of fun and the more people you have, the more fun it is.

I used to play WoTMUD for years! And yes they're great if you can make friends or play with friends because you NEED other people to accomplish stuff.

I have NO CLUE how this works >_< I mean I've walked from some random cabin all the way to Tar. I can't hit anyone, I can't steal/ride horses, apparantly clothing is not available. What do you suggest someone new like me should do =)?

Kill stuff and take their gold, goods. CHeck and see if there is a Newbie area or Newbie Guide. Oh, and get soem clothes. hehe

at the moment killing stuff doesn't work, it's getting reworked. So I guess stealing gold and goods isn't going to work xP
There apparantly is no newbie area or anything, just got dropped in some random cabin and can virtually not interact with anything >_<

According to their website, they have OOC and Newbie channels for communications, Ask on one of those for help. Usually, the local welcoming committee will offer some help and answer questions.

So to ask something on the OOC channel type: "OOC I'm new please help" or for the Newbie channel "Newbie Please help" Then someone can help you get started. Also it looks like there are inline help files by typing "help <topic>" 

 

It looks like a DIKU MUD so to kill something just ype "kill 1." That will tell your character to attack the first thing int eh room. Or "kill Bob" will attack Bob (if he is in the room). "k rabbit" will attack the rabbit, etc etc etc

 Type "i" for inventory

Type "wiear all" to clothe yourself with whatever you have

Type "wield <weapon>" to arm yourself (usually in MUDs, you start eith a dagger or something)
