Ghost hounds?

In the beginning of TeoTW, Mat covers dogs with flour and tells people "ghost hounds" are on the loose. I don't recall hearing anything about such creatures after that. Do they have anything to do with anything, or were they just put in as an example of the legends Two Rivers people believed in? :?

Maybe ghost hounds are how the two river people interpreted Dark Hounds...? Mydraal are called lots of things why not other dark creatures... then again mat is just a prankster maybe he made it up?

I always thought it was just Mat playing tricks on people. IIRC, at the beginning of the series, he is pretty much the stereotypical prankster, doing almost anything that will land him in trouble.

I havn't read TEotW in over 8 years, I don't even remember. But probably just different names for creatures of the shadow.

They are actually Moridin who has gone back in time, and that is what Rand will turn into when they switch.

 

Seriously though, Mat just made it up. They are just dogs covered in flour.

He tells Rand the whole story, from him telling 2 boys (who I don't remember the names of atm) about seeing ghost hounds in the woods. Then he covered Luhhan's dogs in flour and let them loose close to the boys' houses not knowing they'd run straight home and spread the flour all over Luhhan's house. ;) It's brought up again as a comment later when they tell those boys about the gleeman and he asks if it's just another story like the ghost hounds. ;)

 

They're just Mat's pranks that he got from his imagination and will not come into the story unless someone sees their beloved old dog as a ghost or something like that (kinda like the "I see dead people" in KoD)

Awwww, I rememeber the flour on the luhhan's floor, but I must have completely bypassed the part about the dogs.
