Warbreaker was awesome! You should check out Legion, too. I seriously loved that one!  Brandon is pretty awesome!

And I understand, Lady, believe me! My motivation is getting through my reading list by JordanCon! Fun stuff...

Update!

I have been plugging away at AMoL whenever I'm 'not up to my eyeballs in other things.

I have started keeping a to do list right next to my keyboard so I have to look at it every night. It helps me guilt-trip myself enough to stay on top of some things, at least!

I'm tackling my classroom a little at a time. I'm trying to drill these practices into my class's heads, too, so it's not easy creating a habit for 27 people at once!

I had to pull up the original list. Going down the points:

My goals for this year:
1. Get through all the Achievements for Wolf Scout with our Cub Scout Troop in meetings. (I can't make the goal that they all finish them, because that's their own responsibility with their parents, but I can make it all available).
We finished up last year with smashing success! I would call that met for the rest of last school year. I am now working on planning everything for the coming school year. ;) But yes, all our boys last year made WOLF! And that's what this goal was.

2. Make Izumicon in OKC even better than it was last year. (With better forms, an even better schedule of organized panels, and improved guest relations. All things I have more direct influence over this year than in the past. Exciting!)

Definitely in-process and making forward movement on the forms and a pile of guest relations planning. Con is not until November, so this one won't be done until then.

3. Make the Known World Heraldic and Scribal Symposium in June awesome.
Success! The event was fabulous thanks to an amazing event staff and wonderful group of teachers. :)

4. Finish my Alternative Certification to teach in the State Public School system. (I've already passed the tests. Now it's time for letters, interviews, etc... fun with jumping through hoops).
DONE! I got the initial Certification, and now a teaching job to go with it! Now I need to take four classes in education over the next 3 years. And I'm already re-admitted to college to start that as well.

5. Continue moving forward on my house simplifcation/organization scheme. (So far every year this has made progress. So progress should continue. I'll get it all done eventually! The reflooring of the upstairs is almost done!)

Also making progress. The upstairs floor is finished, and I have been working on sorting through things in the large closets, and the storage room, and my upstairs office. We also just built some amazing DVD shelves my husband designed that actually hold our entire (rather extensive, thanks to having a discount used DVD place in town) collection. And we got my son's room cleaned out and reorganized this summer!

6. Not a goal, but a wish - would really like to have a year where no one in the family (especially my husband who's had the lion's share) has a life-threatening health issue.

Not sure if I want to count the leg infection complication two weeks ago (related to the scar tissue from his lymphoma from last year) as a 'major' issue. It wasn't life-threatening, but it was awful just like last November.

7. Complete major rewrites and large Edit 2 of my Novel. (I have a completed first draft. It needs major work and some huge rewrites on the first third.)

With the new teaching job, I am not confident that I will actually COMPLETE this one this year. Though I still intend to make a go at it. Summer was my original time plan, and summer got exceedingly busy.

8. Re-Read the Wheel of Time from start to finish. (I haven't done a re-read since before book 9 came out. So I've only read 9-14 once. And 7-8 only twice. Though the first six had about four rethroughs before 7 came out.  ).
And I want to use my brain and my Masters in English to keep track of a full analysis of the awesomeness. I anticipate needing spreadsheets. Who knows, maybe I'll write an academic paper on it when I'm done (paper not a goal just a whimsy at present.  )

Currently on Book 4, taking extensive notes. I am slightly behind in adding those notes to my online spreadsheets, but I do have them sitting here in an in-box. New Spring and Eye of the World are entered onto the sheets. I need to find time to do the rest of the data entry.

9. Get Better at being able to work on my own fictional works 'and' read in the same day. I have a lot of trouble with doing only one or the other. They seem to like to occupy part of the same mental 'zone' in my brain if I get into something absorbing.
So far I am going to call this one fairly successful as on days when I have time to do either, I usually manage to write a little bit (at minimum on the fan fiction) and read a couple of chapters of the Wheel of Time. :smile;

1. Improve Health (diet/exercise.)

Just lost 15 lbs in two weeks. Had to have two discs fused in my neck with screws, plates and cadaver bone. Not so healthy. Lol.

2. Go back to work smoothly after almost 5 months off.

Did that. Worked myself to the bone because they didn't have staff to do my work while I was off and did my current work. Got caught up the week before my second spinal surgery. Another 5 months off.

3. Handle stress better (yoga, therapy.)

Started therapy. Like it. No yoga while neck hopefully fuses.

4. Find time for myself (meditation, relaxation tapes, reading.)

Since I have another 5 months off, I'm doing plenty of this stuff.

5. Save money for various goals. Vacation to Israel, buy son a car etc.

Saving good (my husband is). Lol.

Mine:

1- Get organized and stay that way. This scattered stuff is making me batty.

2- Reassess my teaching techiques to incorporate my new Chrome books in class and technology brought by students, too.

3- Eat better, establish an exercise routine, lose weight. My goal is to get back into the outfit I met Kyn in.

4- read more, write more, interact more, keep my blogs updated, keep the Kin buzzing.

5- organize JordanCon schedule so it's less "fly by the seat if my pants" and more professional.

So, my update...

1- I've reorganized a few times this year. Can't seem to find an organizational pattern that works enough that I'll stick to it. I keep trying, though!

2- I did this so well, I'm presenting at a conference next Monday. :)

3- I eat better, but I haven't lot any weight and I'm not any healthier than I was when I posted that. Still a Work In Progress.

4- I've actually read LESS this year, written less, and failed at keeping blogs updated. ugh.

5- I did this pretty well. The schedule was fine this year, so I'm working on organizing the content this year to keep the conversation moving when the audience is quietly in awe of my panels...

How did you do??
