When Cadsuane was in Arad Doman, she visits a man who runs a little inn. The mistake is that the wife is a silk merchant. And she sells to Sea Folk.

Who produces silk? who is the largest importer and saviest business people?

Silk is produced in Shara and Sea Folk can buy it directly from the producers, what service did this guy's wife serve? She could have been a dealer of fine stones from saldean mines or ice peppers, but BS or RJ made a mistake.

Most major cities have distributors. the sea folk sell it to mainlanders and then those mainlanders transport it to Merchants who sell it onwards. Or do you think the people of Shara sell it in Andor, Cairhien, Tear and Illian etc, or the sea folk set up shops from ontop of their boats out at sea to sell it to nobles? ;-)

The sea folk sell their cargo to get the best price, after that its nothing to do with them in their eyes. They want the best deal and usually get it. Its the equivalent of a coffee plantation in south america selling its beans to a Coffee Merchant in another country who then sells it onto numerous people.

In a sense there is no difference than had she been a dealer in fine stones or ice peppers etc. Because a Merchant rarely ever makes the goods they sell, they buy from others and then sell them on for a profit. Most things we buy today are not sold by the manufacturer and the same principle applies.

The sea folk are essentially middlemen who transport it between manufacturer and distributor.

The Sea Folk 'seek her out'. It could mean that because she was the most accomplished silk merchant, she could afford to buy most or all of their stores each time, so they wouldn't have to waste time selling smaller amounts to many separate buyers. There's no way they'd buy silk from a silk merchant in Arad Doman, and the way it's written allows you to interpret that they're selling, not buying, IMO.
