I'll take what Sutt said a little further, let me say it again I do not think that there is a reason to blame BS. When RJ passed away I was of the opinion that Harriet was more important to the book and I had faith in her ability. Problem is that Harriet has not been able to take as active a part as at least I was hoping. All the shortcomings that we talk about is the job of editors. For me it is not the failure of BS as a writer, but the failure of team Jordan to provide him with proper feedback and support. I know it is going to anger a lot of people here, but well you know me :baalzamon:

PS this is the closst that I could find to evil smile

The narrative becomes fresh and fluid, less time is wasted on uninteresting descriptions of negligible items/locations/outfits/bosoms, young characters cease to speak like insufferable old farts, no more embarrassingly drawn-out bondage scenes the author clearly wrote to give himself a treat under the table. Oh, and a couple characters gain a sense of humor and lively qualities, although not enough to make them believable as human beings rather than cardboard cut-out heroic archetypes and walking plot conveniences.

All in all, a vast improvement. Makes me wish the series was written by someone else from the start.

First off let me start by saying I am a huge fan of the Wheel
of Time series. This series is what inspired and began my love for books.
Therefore, I can say with some passion that Robert Jordan is a phenomenal
writer. He has built this beautiful world we have come to love and admire.
Stewardship of this great world passed from Robert, in my admittedly biased
opinion, one of the greatest writers to a writer who has proven to be more than
worthy with his past works.

Speaking more to the original concern, about differing writing styles, yes there is a difference. I have

noted a new hand crafting the words on the page. Does this distract from the
eloquence of the story unfurling in front? The answer is no, no it does not.
Before his passing Robert Jordan had his masterful ending plotted, seems he was
always two steps ahead, therefore we will arrive at his brilliant conclusion
just not riding on his well-articulated words.

Brandon Sanderson has admitted Robert Jordan was one of his

inspirations for writing, so his style reflects certain Jordian tones. Having
another writer “finish” the series gave the book a new beginning that brought
in new readership to this great book. This just cements what Robert Jordan has
been telling us from the very beginning, "The Wheel of Time turns, and
ages come and pass, leaving memories that become legend. Legends fade to myth,
and even myth is long forgotten when the Age that gave it birth comes again. In
one Age, called the third age by some, an Age yet to come, an age long pass, a
wind rose in the Mountains of Mist. The wind was not the beginning. There are
neither beginnings nor endings to the turning of the Wheel of Time. But it was
a beginning."

Jordan was a true word smith.

Saunderson... well. He helped to finish the story and I guess we should be thankful for that.

But while under Jordan, characters took on flesh and blood and life, Brandon.. not so much. Maybe he just wanted to get the job done, and it's different writing for a world you create yourself and a world someone else created.

Overall it was pretty jarring for me actually, especially in the last book, Saunderson used the word 'percentage' to describe something.

I'm like... percentage? I don't think percentages existed in that Age.

Hi everyone

(On topic) I am not very happy with BS for his use of modern words like command centre, operating, etc.

Also he has managed to completely destroy Mat's character. I mean he really has no idea how to keep Mat witty, and funny! Ends up with pathetic lines...

Does anybody else also finds this so?

Exactly!!! percentage!!

And what's with the total silence on Nynaeve. She gets like, 2 lines in the last book. I mean, seriously, the woman who cleansed saidin, defeated Moghedien & assisted against Rahvin, healed Stilling, started Lan's army............. 2 LINES.

A simple difference:

Describing a person dying / getting killed.

Jordan: "He was surprised to find a knife sticking out of his ribs, when had that happened? He tried to call out for the guards and found that he couldn't make a sound. His last thought was, 'Shaile is going to be so angry.' Darkness closed in..  etc etc etc"

Saunderson. "She died."

Rothfuss's style of writing I think is more similar to RJ's.
