I just watched that preview over again, only time since it first was posted and I wonder if because of what Rick says "This prison is ours, we shed blood" if he's simply talking about the walkers they kill getting it or if that means someone in the group dies. I notice it didn't show the short haired lady (Forget her name) pretty much at all other then when the young girl starts singing.

Season 1 and 2, lol

Ok

So the premiere of season 3 is October 14th so counting back from there...

I think to watch/discuss both seasons (one episode a day) we'd need to start on Tuesday the 25th

Sounds good to me

I just realized I'm going to be out of town for the premier though :(

I seem to remember her in a trailer though...

I suppose she might die at some point but I didn't get that indication

Well to be honest her point is just being an extra body

The show would get very stale if saw just 1-4 people were left alive

There is definitely a good chance she COULD die since they're introducing a new body (Michone?)

Just like they did with Hershell & Co

As long as they keep bringing new people in the people that aren't as important to the story are more likely to be killed IMO

All I meant was I didn't think the trailer indicated that she was gonna die

I guess we'll see though

Ok so rewatching episode 1

I totally forgot the show opened with Rick looking for gas

I thought it opened with the scene where he gets shot but nope

I like this better since it really sets the mood that this isn't going to be something cheesy it's going to be scary and dramatic and tense

And when you see that little girl zombie and he shoots her...ohh man the chills

But of course the real opening is when Rick wakes up in the hospital

He seems so confused but man if I woke up in abandoned hospital I would definitely think the worst

I know that in TWD canon the word "zombie" and the idea of "zombies" is not supposed to exist but ya know I'm pretty sure the idea of a post apocalyptic world still exists so it's weird that Rick would just kind of wander around like he doesn't know what's going on

I mean he doesn't have to know "zombie apocalypse" but he should be able to figure out something very very bad is going on

It's kind of sad watching this again because honestly I was scared when Rick was in walking around the hospital and I think in season 2 they've kind of dropped the scary/tension aspect and have gone with a more action style

Which is fine I like that too but I kind of miss moments like the one where he's walking up to that one door that's chained up and the zombies start shaking it and stuff

You know

For a show that's only had 2-4 black characters depending on how you want to count it they really did a disservice to the show by getting rid of Morgan

He was actually pretty interesting even when compared to some of the main characters

He has a son to take care of and a dead wife turned walker he couldn't bring himself to shoot

There's depth of character there, there's story

And then there's T Dog......

What a waste

Rick has changed a lot from the first episode to what he's like at the end of season 2

It's like he always had that potential to be who he is but he never had the need to be that hard in his day to day life

In this first episode he goes to find that bicycle girl before heading off to Atlanta and he gets choked up and tells her he's sorry this happened to her and puts her out of her misery

He's sorry for one random walker

I think it's the best example of how Rick has had to change to cope with this new life he's in

As the episodes roll by he can't afford to feel sorry for the dead and his compassion for the living is even starting to dwindle somewhat

Ok so towards the end of the episode we get a glimpse at the camp and we meet up with Shane again

A lot of people don't like Shane and I think to a certain degree that is a justified feeling but I like Shane which I'll get into more during later episodes

For now though I will just say that it took him, what, 5 days before making moves on Lori? Maybe less? I almost don't blame him because in a way you could just say that he is stepping up for Rick and fulfilling that role as the husband and father that Lori and Carl need

I think he could have waited longer but whatever

LORI on the other hand...

I get that she believes her husband is dead

And I totally do not fault people for moving on because marriage ends when your spouse dies

But hey have a little respect for the guy huh?

She really could have waited a while before hooking up with Shane

Like do you really need to be making out in a tent during a zombie apocalypse only a week or so after your husband has "died"?

Yes life goes on and all but like I said...just a little respect...just like two weeks, a month maybe

Bleh

Oh man the tank scene was in this episode? I thought that was the beginning of episode 2

Man this scene was scary

I mean you have to assume Rick lives because he's obviously the main character but at the same time there were SO MANY zombies and when he's crawling under the tank it's just like how can they not get him? He's so gone right? The fact that he could make it through that almost seems impossible even though I watched it happen

Then again why argue about impossibilities in a zombie show right? lol

o.0 the new season started already??

Nope!

We're rewatching and discussing the first two seasons while we wait for season 3 to start

If I timed it right if we do an episode a day by the time we finish season 2 season 3 will be starting

edit: or, well, I am at least

We'll see if anyone join me I guess

Alright so episode 2

We meet the group in town and honestly...who the hell are these people? Did they all die?

I know Glenn and Andrea of course

You know, the people that are still with us but I don't remember the others

I remember an attack happening later in the season so maybe they all die there or something

I think there is an interesting parallel the scene on the roof with Merle and the end of season 2 where Rick is saying it's not a democracy anymore

I feel like, in a way, Rick is turning more into Merle

Not necessarily with the biases but Rick has a plan, survival, and he's going to make SURE that these people stay alive whether they like it or not

Merle of course was more in it for himself but still interesting

To me the big hint is when he says "All I am anymore is a man looking for his wife and son, anyone gets in the way of that's gonna lose"

Rick is already preparing himself to do what he has to do he just doesn't take those final steps until later in the show

Ummm ok

So they have very limited time left before the zombies break in and Rick stops his plan to talk about this dead zombies he's about to chop up?

It just doesn't seem like the smart thing to do

Then again I guess Rick hasn't really been doing the smart thing thus far so why start now right?

You know

T Dog has almost nothing to him right?

Why couldn't they work up the guilt factor of leaving Merle to die huh?

I dunno...he really just needs to die in season 3 that's all there is to it

Watching ep3 right now

Merle...meh w/e

Shane really stepped up and into the survival role I don't care what else you say about him

It may seem like common sense to keep fires low but when you're cold it may not seem like such a big deal if it even occurs to you

"He wont wake up"

I didn't catch that the first time around

I guess you would know wouldn't you Lori?

So Daryl is here now

Meh w/e

I guess I should note that Daryl takes after Merle as the antagonist in the group

And after he calms down it's Shane

And then...well I think Rick's gonna take that job in season 3 sad to say

I know no one is a fan of Lori but I'd just like to say what Shane said is completely true

The way she's acting isn't fair

Rick and Shane have been best friends for years and, as we all know, Shane thought Rick was as good as dead so he stepped into the husband/father role

He's taken care of Lori and Carl so for Lori to say "My family is off limits" is just all kinds of unfair to Shane

She's taking out her guilt about being unfaithful on him and that sucks

Wait ok

That door was locked right?

Where did Merle go?

If I remember that rooftop right there was really nowhere to go from there except down into the building

Unless he made some kind of crazy matrix jump to another building he should have been stuck up there regardless

Oh well

Personally, I think Merle must have climbed down a fire escape or something similar.

Lori taking out her anger on Shane is totally unfair, but part of it is I wonder if she wasn't totally happy to see Rick alive? Like maybe Shane and Lori were having an affair before he got shot?

I completely blame Lori for Shane's break down. Her constantly jerking him around screwed him up. If not for her I think that Shane and Rick would have worked their differences out. Which is why I wish instead of Dale dying they killed her.

Not to mention her whole whispering in the ear scene with Rick in season two is what lead to Rick killing Shane. Then she get's all disgusted that Rick actually killed Shane.

I don't think I've hated any fictional character more than I hate her.
