Severing and healing and such

Hey guys,

There's one little thing about the healing of severing/stilling/gentling that I've never seen addressed anywhere that bugs me. Just an idea that I'd love to see some discussion and speculation on. And of course I'm sure it's nothing more than speculation, but it'd still be fun...

So Siuan and Leanne were healed by Nynaeve, and because it was done by someone of the same gender, they were not restored back to their full potential. Do you think if they were stilled again, then healed by Flinn, their full potential would be restored? Of course the fear is that they would then just be healed to the new diminished capacity.

That thought has long bugged me....

i've always just wondered if perhaps flinn could apply his healing on top or in conjunction with nyn's. or perhaps them working together could repair/complete the healing without the pain of a severing.

Nynaeve said that there was nothing to heal. Presumably it was impossible to detect anything wrong.

thus why i didnt say nyn alone. of course she cant see anything wrong, because she repaired it as best she could, but we know that a male channeler could do it better. we dont know if flinn would agree with that. nor do we know what might be able to be done about it if they linked and went to work on it.

Sorry about not being particularly clear... I've tried to find the quote but I've skimmed through the chapters where I thought I'd find but I can't. What I meant to say was that from the way it was phrased it gave the distinct impression that it was a matter of fact - similar to them always having been that way. But since I don't have the quote here I can only speak from the memory of my impression and that's hardly reliable enough for proof. It's just that from my previous experience I feel that RJ would probably have left a hint in the wording if it was meant to be discovered that it could be fixed, there were several pointers about stilling.

all i can say to this is that this is a speculative thread. but one thing we know from the books is that what a character thinks is true, often is not. nyn even though she is with rand is likely still unaware of flinn's independent healing of severeing, and if she is aware of it, she would still be likely unaware of the men healing women/women healing women tangent. or atleast not put the idea togather yet, as flinn has never healed severing in a male.

I think Flinn have, maybe?

Do you remember the noble man that Rand lived with in Tear, Cadsuane took his brother to the Tower to be stilled and managed to save his life. In ToM we see him again, in the Black Tower. He can channel again. Apparantly he just appeared with Logain a day. So either he has met Flinn, or some other AS is walking around Healing stilled men (b/c we never heard og Nynaeve doing it again).

He is a mystery, that man. I wonder what his role will be.

its not the brother that was stilled who shows up in the black tower. its the noble who rand was staying with, he learned that he could learn to channel while rand was there, and decided to go to the black tower.
