This sounds more like someone that was planning on NKing me and is now butthurt because he knows too much about the books and spooked himself out of risking wasting the shot, tbh.

There you go again, hammering on the setup talk issue. I'm not fond of too much set up talk in normal games where the focus should remain on scumhunting, but scumhunting isn't really the goal in this game. It's survival of the strongest, and much of that will be decided by NA's and off-thread QT's, not so much what people discuss on thread.

 

Claiming that character would be akin to claiming Dick Clark in a New Years Eve themed game. For fans of the series, that character is most known for his ability to be resurrected again and again and again. Period. This isn't some crazy mumbo-jumbo speculation on my part, it's a natural, logical conclusion. Now you could well be Baric like you say you are, but it is just as likely that your teammates fed you the false claim because it fits so well in your situation and also possibly lifts potential threats off your head.

 

Mark my words though Ape, it won't remove all threats from your head.

 

Also, I did some reading about my character - I think being a vig enabler fits the character pretty well, Wombat took a part of this characters story line and aligned it with a mafia role. The end. That's what you have to do as a mod. Don't have to account for every thing that happened to the character ever.

 

That's all fine and dandy, and Wombat might have chosen to fashion the role that way, but as I just said anyone who has read the series would immediately think he'd prob be bulletproof in a mafia game.

 

Actually, I don't think Beric would be bulletproof in this game, solely because he's an unaligned survivor. How would it make sense for someone whose win condition is to survive to the end of the game to be unkillable? And Beric would have to be an unaligned survivor in this setup, would make no sense for him to be aligned with any of the other factions.

 

Whether Ape is actually Beric or not, there's the question -- this could be his fake claim from Wombat, obviously. If it's a fake claim, it immediately pegs Leelou as his teammate, of course.

 

I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt for right now, but that's subject to change when there is new information to consider. I have things I'm more certain about to work from, so Ape has moved down my list of priorities for a while.

Actually, I don't think Beric would be bulletproof in this game, solely because he's an unaligned survivor. How would it make sense for someone whose win condition is to survive to the end of the game to be unkillable? And Beric would have to be an unaligned survivor in this setup, would make no sense for him to be aligned with any of the other factions.

 

Whether Ape is actually Beric or not, there's the question -- this could be his fake claim from Wombat, obviously. If it's a fake claim, it immediately pegs Leelou as his teammate, of course.

 

I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt for right now, but that's subject to change when there is new information to consider. I have things I'm more certain about to work from, so Ape has moved down my list of priorities for a while.

Besides that, why would it be that crazy to have a bulletproof unaligned survivor in a faction game? If they survive till the endgame and one faction ends up ridding itself of all enemies, they would win along with the mafia team as well. Kinda like a symp winning with mafia at the end. All the bulletproof survivor would have to do is keep from being lynched.

1) What existing factions do you think it makes sense for Beric to be aligned with? He was sent out by Ned Stark to hunt down Gregor Clegane, but I don't think it's logical to assume he'd be part of House Stark's team... he wouldn't be a Lannister for sure, or a Greyjoy... Nothing links him to Highgarden or the Night's Watch... his seat is within the Stormlands but I don't see any reason to link him with Stannis...

 

Unknown factions... perhaps, but if there are unknown factions then either Wombat left out some very obvious house members for Stark, Greyjoy and Lannister, or there are very few unaligned survivors in this game.

Obviously you don't believe Ape's reveal and would like to stick with him as a suspected Lannister. That possibility is still very much on my radar, but I'm hoping for additional information to clarify things. Ape's presence in the game is generating a lot of good discussion and I think even if he is a Lannister, he's worth keeping around a bit longer to help flush out more reactions IMO.

And despite what you might think Ape, I'm not one to fall prey to tunnel vision easily. I've got my eyes on a few other players in the game, especially candidates for cult, but then I don't find the cult to be as serious of a threat in this game as in others.

 

It only looks like I'm focusing on you so much because you like to prolong your punishment, in a sense Had you simply ignored me, or let the rhetoric die down after a few posts, I would have gladly left you alone and left my jests for someone else. I actually didn't ignore the point, not initially at least. I explained that I found setup talk to not be as much of a hindrance this game because faction games play out differently than regular town/mafia games, that a little setup talk was necessary to make it clear to others HOW different this game is from a regular game, AND I had hinted at this but never said out in the open: setup talk can also be a great way to catch enemies in a game like this. For instance, Ape is engaging in setup talk himself any time he contests that Lannister=scum. Although this is a faction game, there's no reason the mod wouldn't have wanted to include one faction which are enemies of everyone else, and have other advantages as well (QT, better NA's). Yet he has argued that point the whole game (which makes him a hypocrite, but eh just add it to the list).

 

Once again I have responded with these arguments before, yet he keeps hammering away at the same tactics and hot buttons. Kinda like how he's gone broken record style about me not reading the thread

If you actually put ANY effort towards proving my arguments are weak or unstable, then I'd let it go. Frankly you SAY they are weak, but then don't demonstrate it... the way you've convoluted the whole game with baseless setup speculation is just the cherry on top of what has proven to be an elementary exhibition of mafia play from you. If you were halfway competent, I'd be dead already... and then you'd be backtracking for being completely wrong about everything you've said about me.

Unless Wombat's thrown in additional factions who aren't enemies of Greyjoy and Lannister (which would require either having some very obvious house members left out or a very small number of unaligned survivors), Greyjoy and Lannister are enemies of EVERYONE except the survivors and the Night's Watch, who are nobody's enemies.

 

From what Nolder said D1, it seems likely to me that the Lannisters have a QT. From the fact that the Greyjoys had a symp, it seems pretty obvious the other Greyjoys have a QT. Greyjoys and Lannisters seem to be functionally mafia in this game as far as the house factions are concerned, disregarding the neutral/unaligned.

 

I wouldn't be surprised at all though if there was a vigilante on at least one of the non-QT house factions.

 

 

And, why don't you just tell us who you are aligned with, Ape? I have this nagging feeling it is an unaligned survivor, however.

My character is Beric Dondarrion. I am a gunsmith, which is like an inventor, but I'm only able to hand out single-shots day kills. It's kind of like being a vig enabler I guess, with some added EFF ME because the chances are strong I give a gun to someone and they shoot me because I'm me. Anyway, I'm not aligned with a faction. After thinking about it, I realized I'm pretty much a low-odds conversion candidate if I revealed, simply because if I stop handing out guns, it'll be obvious.

 

I have no problem cooperating with the dominant faction, once its established. Which is why I've had no qualms about lynching whoever.

 

Ape's insistence on questioning the Lannister = scum argument could possibly make some sense as an unaligned survivor. The majority of this game has to be those aligned with house factions, though, so to most of us Lannisters are the enemy, and the longer he ignores that the more he looks like a lying Lannister scum, so to speak.
