What up! I'm John and I luuuurrves these books. I'm a school teacher so I had the entire summer 2010 to read Eye of the World through Knife of Dreams. This series took me by surprise, but I've been in love ever since picking up "The Dragon Reborn" for the first time.

Ooh, and I drew that dashing trolloc on my avatar. You can find a bigger version of it here.

A British Trolloc! Corki will love it

Welcome to DM, John. So what about the books do you love so much?

Thanks! Glad to be here!

And ooh, wow, that's a good question. I'd say the World Building that Jordan did in the first few books really paid off to make a rich world I can just get lost in. I like how it's not clearly "Medieval England" or "19th Century France" or even full of definable nationalities (like making the Aiel all gingers, that was something I had to wrap my brains around).

Beyond that, OMG WOLVES! I love Perrin's storyline/character/abilities. I'm always for the Brooding Giant character that takes second chair to the Charismatic Pretty Boy, and Jordan has probably the best Brooding Giant character ever written. Plus, wolves? I think Jordan should get have gotten a medal just for that.

*Points at Ty and laughs:* banks :P

Errmm ... I mean to say ... Perrin? Really?

Do you know that our RP Groups has a Wolfkin section? You might want to check that out. Well, our Social Groups has a Wolfkin section too. I believe they have a fascination with (or should that be "of"? are fascinated by?) they really like chilli and tequila *nods*

.

But I agree with you on the world building - it's unlike anything else I've ever come across. It really makes one feel immersed in it to the point of ... uhm ... well, joining this site and pretending to be an Aes Sedai *shifts feet*

Y'know, yeah, I get it. Perrin's storyline had more waffling and treading water and wasted chapters than perhaps any of the other characters, but his awesome moments were like drops of water in the desert. I guess when I first read his stuff thoughts of a young Druss the Legend (a la David Gemmell) came to mind because of his axe. And then as he started using his hammer I kept thinking of a young Robert Baratheon (a la George RR Martin). As he was smithing, that put me in mind of Dwarves, which brought to mind Gimli from the Lord of the Rings. And then when he grew his beard... Well, honestly, I always thought of him wearing a beard because I wear a beard. I loved all of those characters, and I love Perrin, because I could always put my face on him whenever I visualized the book in my head. And, truly, isn't that how we all become attached to good characters?

And I'll def give the Wolfkin a look-see (I'm totally fascinated with chili and tequila). Thanks for the heads up and for the words of welcome!

Your avatar works now! And it makes me giggle

I liked Perrin at the beginning, and I'm beginning to re-like him now. It was the "oh woe is me" in the middle of the series that had my eyes glazing over. To be fair, I didn't understand what drove him. I've always been very Red AS. Took a few life lessons for me to begin to empathise with him.

Anyhoo, have a look at the pinned topics around here that explain (hopefully) what all is available to you, and feel free to ask any questions!

Welcome to Dragonmount! I, personally, love the Spanish title  *points to current location that will sadly have to change in a month*

As Elgee said, Corki will definitely enjoy a british trolloc...which means you should stop on by the Band of the Red hand social org as Corki's the man running that....and I'm his second in command (aka the one that keeps him in line lol well, all three of us senior staff in the Band keep each other in line so it's all good).

*hands the newbie some brownies* Espero que te gusta todo que esta aqui y que encuentres un lugar para quedar y encontrar nuevos amigos por todo el mundo!
