I wonder if I can cause a ruckus with that title. I'm a big SOT fan and am now reading WOT and loving it too. The only reason I chose SOT first was because I saw the TV show.....

anyways, hi. I'm loving eye of the world right now, has an epic feeling and is dark from the first moment, great!!

What is SOT?

Terry Goodkind's Sword of Truth series. While I like WoT, I just prefer SoT. And the books were much better than the TV show - apart from Bridget Regan! *gazes off into a dreamworld*

Anyway, welcome to DM! I hope you enjoy your time at the site! Take your time browsing and do not hesitate to ask us for any help if you get lost or confused!

Welcome, Nabil! We can forgive our childish mistakes when it comes to reading SOT. Just make the appropiate sacrifices to the appropiate gods/goddess to attone. j/k

Hope you have fun here!

Proper sacrifices are evil chickens and noble goats.

interesting......i've always heard WOT fans were more vicious towards SOT fans.....i have to admit, though, WOT already has a more epic feel right from EotW.

i had a quick question. is there a book-by-book boards section in the discussion forums? you know, so that as people finish a book, they can talk about it, etc.

The subforum of the General Books forum. Its called Structured Discussion, I think?

And if you want to see true viciousness towards SoT, check out the Goodkind threads over on the A Song of Ice and Fire site Westeros.

The Mistborn series is pretty good, I preferred Elantris to that series though ( actually have yet to read the final Mistborn book. haha). I don't know a song of ice and fire... never heard of it actually.

SOT isn't all that bad, the first three books were good, the following, I just cannot bring myself to even try them.

Ice and Fire is one of the best series in fantasy today. Its very graphic and violent at times though so, if that disturbs you, don't read it. I'd say its not as bad as SoT in terms of disturbing stuff though, and at least in Ice and Fire I feel it serves a better purpose.

o ya, SOT was pretty graphic and violent. i felt it was realistic though and helped empathize with the victim/heroes more. the torture scenes with the mord-sith were very graphic. i doubt any book can do worse...

but thanks for your opinion...i've placed a request at my library to buy those.

Hey Nabil, welcome to the forums.I wasn't a big SoT fan, but I'm a History and Politics nerd, nd I think that's what draws me to WoT.

Though I will admit the Legend of the Seeker series is pretty decent.

Anyway, enjoy the forums, don't hesitate to ask any questions, and be sure to have fun.

Ah, the infamous Chicken That Is Not A Chicken. Did you know it could channel the Real Energy? It was loyal to Richard al'Thor, so as to give itself protection from Jagang, yet wouldnt help Richard al'Thor, because it was still his enemy.

Also, welcome nabil!
