Piece of Music; Mozart's Piano Concerto No 15 in B Flat Major

Reason for Nomination: A fantastic piece by Mozart that is upbeat, bright with a brilliant violin accompaniment.

Piece of Music: Mozart's Die Zauberflote (The Magic Flute), Der Holle Rache

Reason for Nomination: One the best arias Mozart has written, with a brilliant score and opera often gets ignored when people discuss classical pieces.

I second the rite of spring and queen of the night

If we are going for opera id like to add

Piece of music;Don Giovanni, K. 527; Act 2, Commendatore Scene by Mozart

ReasonI really like listening to it and I normally hate opera. The string accompaniment is great and the tension of the scene is so well done in the music. I just love it

Rodrigo: Concerto de Aranjuez (Orange Juice)

Reason: My favorite classical piece. It's powerful and dramatic without being overwrought (Miles Davis once said that the softer you play it the stronger it gets, and the louder you play it the weaker it gets), subtle and moving. It also featured in one of my favorite movies (Brassed Off, which gave us the all-time great line "that girl blows flugal like a dream!"). It's the quintessential piece of Spanish classical music, which is astounding, since it was composed in 1939 (according to Wiki, Rodrigo often got stiffed on royalties because people assumed it was much older and therefore free of copyright).

Two versions:

Nomination post updated.

We currently stand at 27 nominations. Of that number, 18 are definitely through, with 9 not being seconded just yet.

As things stand, we could be heading for a 32 song "It's A Knockout" contest.

Piece of Music (with composer): In the Hall of the Mountain King by Edvard Greig

Reason for Nomination: It comes from Greig's piece of work called Peer Gynt. A very musical piece that shows Peer Gynt's attempts to escape from the King and his trolls.
