why does that make me think of this... it's nothing like it... but it jumped right into my head.

this was back when we were expecting to be nuked in our sleep every night.

fun times.

actually, they erally were... maybe one of those snatching life from the jaws of death things.

maybe that's why my head went here.

Spot on.

That was a good year.

Period from 1981 to 1989 in Poland was so bleak and depressing that people spent it mainly at home taking care of themselves  There was a huge baby boom in and around 1984.

A little Polish music from 1984.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aHZ1MK0DEZA&feature=related

That's the lyrics I found, the translation isn't perfect but it gives the general feeling.

Open the door, come on through

Out of breath the lover in you

Hot lips, hot hands, hotter skin

Twilight face shadowing

Looking through the bottom of your glass

Stretching like a lazy cat

Your body so smooth and bright

Fading inside the light

Touch you, stroke your finger light

Awaking, aching, moving things

Your black eyes close and you burn alive

You open up like a rose of night

She's leaving but she's left

Her smile, her lips, her breath

She'll come back just the same

And ask me once again

Whose's that lipstick on the glass?

Whose's that lipstick on the glass?

Whose's that lipstick on the glass?

Ok, I'm in the mood. Sorry people :baalzamon:

Another thing from 1984:

They actually did a version in English, but it doesn't sound too good. The song was inspired by the hydrogen bomb test in the archipelago of Bikini My link

"Death in bikini"

you're on a beach with me

my lady

nobody's there to rescue me

your scent attracts

your scent attracts

my trembling hand to your slim waist

we walk so close and in the distance

your eyes reflected in the green waves

one whisper and

one whisper and

I'll be forever your true slave

oh lady do

oh lady do

oh lady do

oh lady do

you come to me in this bikini

leaving no footprints on the sand

I cannot rise

I cannot rise

so I lie looking at your body

you take my shirt off me my lady

I lie there dying almost naked

a stream of blood

runs from my mouth

so you are dressed in a bikini

bikini death

bikini-bikini-bikini-bikini

bikini-bikini-bikini-bikini...

bikini death

I give my neck to you my lady

my blood will colour all the seas

so keep on kissing me keep kissing

and keep on kissing me oh kiss me

kiss me... kiss me...

ki-ki-kiss me...

so let me touch you once my lady

I want to feel your cooling hand

I'm so afraid

I'm so afraid

that you will vanish in this sand

so let me touch you lady

even if only through this suit

just this one time

just this one time

I want to learn the touch of stars

bikini death

bikini-bikini-bikini-bikini

bikini-bikini-bikini-bikini

bikini-bikini-bikini-bikini

bikini-bikini-bikini-bikini...

bikini death

I want to know the touch of stars

stars

Yeah, but it also about a pretty lady in bikini and about death. The main meaning is probably Bikini atoll and the bomb.

One of the best thing about older Polish music and literature is that there were always ambiguities and second meanings. It came because of hundreds of years of censorship. Art was saying what you wanted in such a way that would trick the censors but still convey the message to the public.

This song wasn't directly involved in politics, but the indirect style, metaphors and so on are typical.

I have researching Gogol Bordello in my plans.

Ok, sorry, I'm dumb.

I was aware of the book of the Bible, but for some reason thought you meant something else. It has various meanings so I get it now.

just when you wrote you can't post it it confused me. Why couldn't you post a book of the Bible?
