New IC Ajah Head

OK, here are my feelings about the IC Ajah Head...

I think we need to put an NPC in as the Head of the Green Ajah. I realize the Last Battle is getting close, but killing off this many Heads in so little time (IC'ly, anyway) is not going to show a lot of consistancy. This way, the Head will always be the same and whoever accepts the mantel of Head can keep her primary character AND still RP as the Head.

I think they tried this before, but honestly, I was a little MiA having a baby when they did, so I'm not sure how it worked out.

Lor will NEVER be Captain-General willingly, as it really is not in her nature. I can play the NPC part when needed, but, honestly, the only time we really ever need her is during the raising ceremony and whatever Ajah-head related RP's come up.

Since this is a decision that will affect the Greens for a while, what do you think?

ALSO- we probably need to think of something that takes Jade out of the Head seat, but I really don't want to kill her off or damage her character in any way. Let's brainstorm something? Jade sent me an e-mail giving me permission to do whatever I wanted, but... I really don't want to add to the bad blood of long-gone members.

I agree with using a NPC for the IC head. Since we don't really need her all the time but for the walk through etc. I'd prefer one person play her though. Kind of like Ama plays both MoN's.

I was thinking about what to do with Jade and I think we should just have her stepping down for some reason. I'm not sure why yet but that's what my ideas were when I was half awake. LOL

Rasheta wouldn't make a good IC head either. She's weak in the power and kind of too depressed/annoyed to easily. LOL She'd probably scrap a bunch of traditions just cuz she didn't like them which would throw the Greens for a loop. LOL

*Looks at the lovely Heads RPs going on, and swears a blue streak*

Sooo ... this throws a bit of a spanner in the works - first Serena disappears, now Jade goes. I'd hate to scrap those RPs and restart them with new characters. Serena has been a sort of bit player for now, so she can be replaced in the story if need be, but Jade's character started the whole ball rolling and is pivotal ... *sighs*

If I might make a suggestion: Muirenn and Kara allowed us to use their Amyrlin and Keeper characters as NSWs when they went on long LoAs. Would you be open to doing the same with Jade? That way there's no discontinuity, and should she ever decide to come back, she can pick up her character again if she wants.

She said we could do whatever with her character, but I'm not comfortable playing a character with as much RP'd history as Jade. There are a lot of nuances that make Jade who she was and not all of those RP's are available to do backreadings for. I KNOW I would screw something up.

I wouldn't be opposed to RP'ing our NPC Head when needed, and that would include this set of RP's. All we have to do is bridge the gap between Jade and the new one. I realize that won't be easy and I'm honestly not sure what's going on there. It's nothing I can't pick up, though.

I can understand not being comfortable RPing someone else's character, especially one like Jaydena. How on earth we're going to swop to someone else mid stride is beyond me, though.

Here's the RPs we've done so far:

What do you mean you're not a Red? - done, led to the other RPs

In this, Jade has spotted suspicious activity in the Red quarters (men - lots of). She slips in there and starts chatting up one of the men (Arath), finds out he's an Asha'man, and along comes Zarinen. Jade figures out Zarinen must be the Ajah Head, Zarinen figures out the same thing about Jade, they chat, and deciding that AS must work together in dealing with the Black Tower. They think it will be easiest if they can convince the other Heads, who can direct their own Ajahs in that direction. Of course, first they have to find out who those Heads are. The set about hunting and appearing chum-illy together, hoping to flush out some of the others.

Putting Two and Two Together - done, leading to another RP about to start

The White Head (Tayva) notices them, logics it out, and decides to take a chance by inviting them for tea. The actual meeting is about to start.

The Weight of the Word - in progress

Jade and Zarinen are doing their chummy act, and encounter a Blue who they know has previously been bonded to an Asha'man. They're going to throw out some lures, probably in the line of "oh we have to deal with these Asha'man it would be so nice if the Heads could get together about this blah blah", hoping to get hints as to the Blue Head. They don't know that the woman they're talking is in fact her.

As you can see, Jade is central in all three these RPs, which are happening all within a few days. The "teaparty with the White" is set to happen the following day, in fact. Our challenge will be how to get rid of Jade, introduce a new Green Head, have her know about Zarinen and Tayva and the mission they're all on ... in less than 24 hours IC time.

Since Jade already knows of the two other heads, if she simply steps down she could inform the new head of what her affairs were. If she just disappears or something she could have it left behind in a note/reminder of some sort to meet the other heads for tea at the location?

*sighs deeply about getting no warning about a character leaving* She could have finished up the threads before she left. Given us some warning something. But no use crying over spilled milk as they say.

Elgee, I agree with Kat we could have Jade tell the NPC head what's going on. Something like "they talked long into the night" blah blah blah. If Lor's okay with taking over the NPC head then awesome. Although that WOULD mean Lor would have to take over with the NPC head in the mission that you and Jade were planning/doing what have you. Lor are you okay playing that? On top of the field trip etc? I don't know how much time wise you have.

I'm bored and Peanut is getting more independent. I've got some time. At least as much as Jade did before she left, anyway, probably a bit more. Once NaNo is over (the 30th is not that far away), I will have even more. I'll just need a good solid list of what I've got going and which character is supposed to be doing what. Ya'll can feel free to poke me if it's been more than a day or so since you've been waiting on me to post something. I promise not to scream and snap at you. *grins*

I really like the note idea, actually. Perhaps that's how she becomes the Head,in the first place? She's investigating Jade's rooms for clues about where she's gone and finds notes tucked somewhere. If Jade just disappears, that would be a little plausible. They wouldn't be detailed or have anything specific, but if she stumbles onto a meeting she can cover Jade's absence from the meeting by saying she's away and needed someone to come. She could bring the note so the others believe that Jade sent her. Surely just listening to the conversation would be enough for her to pick up on the tone of the meetings? Perhaps if everyone assumes she's the Head, it'll make her being the Head an easier connection to make, too...

... i LIKE that, Lor!

"Well, I kinda pretended to the other Ajah Heads that I'm the new Green Head, so y'all are just going to have to play along" ... *grins*

Hmm ... would you be open to bringing the BA into this scenario? It could, for instance, be suspected that the BA became aware of Jade and Zarinen's mission, and abducted her. She can be presumed dead, but if Jade herself ever wants to return, it could turn out that she was kidnapped by the BA and managed to escape somehow?

Just flinging ideas off the top of my head here ... lol

I don't see why not! :)

So, I need to dream up a Head, then. *laughs and eyes the clock* I'll work on that tomorrow during DWTS! ;) Don't be surprised if she looks like Cheryl Burke or something... *grins*

Crap - forgot to remind you that Arath bonded Jade. I've asked him what he wants to do, ie pretend it never happened, or let them continue as bonded. If it's the last, that would have an impact on this (ie he'd know she's not dead, and he'd know where she is, depending on how close to him she is).

I'll let you know what he says, or you could of course just contact him directly.

He posted still being bonded, but let us know what he decides. My vote is still for her stepping down without being dead, though that may put him in a bit of a bind with bonding other people. *chews her lip*

I put this in the WT planning thread for the outing, but I thought I should add it here too

Not that I mind going ahead and ignoring timeline stuff just to have a fun RP, but I thought I would point out that if Kathleen is just an initiate about to learn her battle weaves that would put this RP about 6 decades behind the Main Time Line. I don't have a problem with the Ashman coming as I like to play with lots of people, but I feel I should at least point it out and see what you more experienced/higher ups think about it all. If it makes it easier I can play Kathleen as older to fit it in better and we can do the battle weaves separately, But like I said I don't mind ignoring it and trudging through.

So I'm not sure when that would make Jade stepping down, or if they would be bonded yet, or what other things it would mess with....

Alright, let's start working on this bio, then. I'm going to throw up things I am thinking about, you feel free to tell me if something isn't clear or needs fleshing out a bit more. As Captain-General, she's not a spring chicken, so there's probably a lot of things in here that will need some work. I'd like to have it finalized by the end of the month so we can get the thing posted and approved (if needed).

Hair: Platinum Blonde (it hides the grays)

Eyes: Brown

Skin: medium toned, mostly tanned by the sun

Voice: I honestly have no idea what this means???

Other: 1- body type: lean and athletic build

2- Age: main timeline: 120 years old (generally played at 100)

Optional

Special Skills: She's really good at picking up on little details and putting them together. It makes organizing battles come very easy to her and matching sword forms to an opponent's movements are easy, too.

Knowledge Weakness: She's unsure of whether she believes the Seals are weakening or that the Forsaken are loose. She sees plenty of evidence to support the last battle coming, but can't believe the Creator chose her generation to actually fight it.

Physical Weakness: She's relied upon saidar for most of her life and while she's good with forms and isn't clumsy, she's not physically very strong. She's also got scars down her torso from previous battles and has broken a hip in the last battle she fought. It drove her to return to the Tower and take up a position within it and leaves her gait a little impaired, too.

Personality weakness: She doesn't believe there's anything she can't handle and it makes her a bit overly ambitious. Since she can't order people around on a battle field, she's decided to do it in the Green Halls.

Personality- She's very ambitious and curious about the things going on around her. While she doesn't like drama, per se, she had no trouble sneaking in under the guise of assisting to draw out more information.

History

Amena had a pretty generic childhood, happily unaware of her gifts. She was born to a pair of shop owners inside Cairhien. Her parents made quite a variety of things, but usually focused on furnishings and decorations for homes. In that, Amena had access to some pretty influential people, as the Nobles frequented her parents' shop quite often as styles changed.

She was brought to the Tower at the age of sixteen, when a traveling Aes Sedai wandered into their shop to buy a piece of furniture. It really wasn't until she entered the Tower that her life took on any form of adventure. She wouldn't have chosen the Greens if it weren't for a conversation with a newer Green about a class in Battle Tactics she was taking to train for her time in the Borderlands. Halfway through the conversation, Amena realized she knew more about those tactics than the Green did and found herself tutoring the woman on maneuvers before they left. From then on, she found herself fascinated with war histories and soon it became apparent where she was heading.

She spent many years along the Borderlands, choosing to extend her time along the lines when her term was up. She has many scars that tell the story of her time there, including a pair of deep scars that run down her torso and a broken hip that ended her battle days. She returned to the Tower ten years ago to take up a place among the Greens, collecting information and passing orders (approved by the Captain General, of course) to scouts and troops in the field along the Borderlands.

When Jaydena is found "sleeping," her curiosity is piqued. She sneaks into Jade's study and sifts through notes on her desk, trying to find clues about what might've befallen the sleeping Captain General.

ok, I think I fleshed out our Captain General here. the history is a little sketchy, but I'm exhausted (it took an hour and a half to do the 8 newbies on the SG side this week! EEEEKKKK!!!!). Is this enough or do you think she needs more?

I like it! You might want to flesh out more of why she would know battle tactics better than a Green AS ... though I might have missed something (1 cup of coffee does NOT an awake Elgee make )

All in all, she sounds like a really fun character to play, and perfect for the job

I put that part under the "special skills" section and excused it by the Green being REALLY new... when I'm not watching the words get fuzzy on the screen because I'm so damned tired, I'll see if I can edit in some further explanation in her History... :)

  • 1 month later...

Yay, she's been approved! :D

Now to do the OP workup... *sighs*

I need to read that e-mail again... Elgee, did I get a score to divide up in there somewhere? I was reading it on my blackberry and it's hard to keep up with long e-mails there. *laughs*
