I'm pretty sure I know who Leigh Butler was talking about in her review when she said:

Holy hell, _____ just had a Moment of Awesome. Of all freakin’ people! I didn’t even think that was possible.”

That had to be Faile at the end of chapter 18 in the way she called out Berelain.

I skipped that part. I am bored out of my mind with Perrin and Faile. I decided to just skip their story all together. The Last Battle is coming and I have already read 11 books and waited 12 years since I picked up the first book for this series to end. I do not need to see Perrin and Faile on a freaking date. I also do not need to see Matt talking about shaving or waiting around Caemlyn forever. I do not need to see Nyneave dealing with one of what is undoubtedly hundreds of of bubbles of evil. I get the point. No more plot setup. It has been set up. No more character development. Everyone's character has been developed. Get on with it already!

I am in the middle of chapter 19 and am seriously considering just putting down the book and not finishing. I have read the series up to this point 4 times. The first book by Sanderson was unbelievably awesome. This books sucks. It is incredibly boring. Rand is literally the only interesting character so far and they only show him in tidbits. Let's just show his POV and only his POV from here on out and finish this dang thing!

Did someone tell Brandon the last book was too fast-paced and he needed to slow it down to a grinding halt? If so, that person should be shot.

Strange, how the same scenes can be viewed so very differently... I'm through ch. 20 now and is in the mindset of "yay, something's happening at last, people are actually talking to each other about what they feel and what has to be done". Particularly Faile & Perrin, Elayne & Mat.

Sure, Rand is fashinating, but to me only his POV would be boring to me. He's almost to much right now. Nynaeve, on the other hand....

To me, this one is already better than tGS.

I agree. Thus far, this is certainly an amazing book! The first 20 chapters are obviously building up to something but its quite action packed! All the characters seem to be heading towards confrontations.

This is anything but boring. And was that a big hint that Rand will confront Aes Sedai again and demand Male and Female coleadership in Tar Valon?

Sorry, i dont have my book in front of me because i am at work but does Nynaeve heal the unthinkable in this sequence of chapters? I dont have my book but would like to discuss it. I didnt even think healing such a thing was even in the realm of possibilities

Yes, if you're referring to the helaing of the madness in that Asha'man (I haven't read further than 20, and I have read about that).

Holy cow! I just read Chapter 16 and really disagree. I thought it was the best written chapter with them in the entire series. Very well done. And this is coming from someone who has NOT been a fan of this part of the story. When Hopper mentioned climbing over the same wall over and over, I couldn't agree more. I was starting to dread reading this book if it really was going to be "Perrin's Book" Chapter 16 and the increasing tension about the whitecloak confrontation (not there yet) really make me feel good about it.

That said, Amrilyn's Anger was as big let down. Who woulda thunk I could be disapointed with an Egwene chapter after TGS and happy with a Perrin/Faile chapter.

Personally I don't think Perrin's sequences have been this much fun to read since the defense of Emond's Field in tSR. It's great to see him accept who is and start to realise his potential. I've been waiting for him to do this since we found out what a trained Dreamer is capable of and now that he is I find myself anxiously anticipating his sections. I also whole-heartedly approved of Faile's showdown with Berelain. I'm on chapter 37 now and without spoiling anything beyond 20 I can tell you I'm enjoying ToM at least as much as I did any of the previous books.

Wow, you and I are the complete opposite. I would much MUCH rather the series go on longer. Sure I've been waiting and frustrated at times, but I don't want it to end.

Ok is it me just interpreting wrong or is the Perrin story arc behind everybody else and technically taking place during TGS? HE is just now camping at the statue that Rand saw him at in TGS and as far as I can tell Tam is still with him. So while everything else seems to be after TGS Perrin is playing catch up I guess?

Now that the books are coming at a steady clip, I couldn't agree more.

Let's discuss less about the whether or not we liked the book (why is that guy even here?) and more about the actual content in the book!

I think the purplish wall is a result of the Dreamspike. Anyone else think that?

Ok! That was (and is) my guess too. Could be balefire effect in dream world, who knows at this point.

Can we please get some discussion about this? I'm up to about page 400ish. Perin and Elyas have been chatting after Perin chopped wood. In the next chapter, Rand is strolling through bandar Ebon with Min and discusses having sent Tam back to the Two Rivers with Ashamen to prepare for tarmon gaidon. Yet I thought Tam was with Perrin? This also confused me when Rand returned to Tear and Tam was there and they had a heartfelt hug. I thought at that stage maybe I'd read poorly and missed that Tam was being sent to Tear as one of Perrin's long range information gathering trips care of the Ashaman gateways.

I'm confused. :-(

There's no need for discussion. The timelines are off. Perrin is pretty far behind Rand at the start of the book.

Remember in tGS when Rand had the vision of Perrin standing by the statue with Galad? That's way before Rand meets up with Tam and tries to kill him. That's where Perrin's arc starts (pretty much) in ToM, so he has some catching up to do. Tam being whisked away from Perrin's camp was because of Nynaeve getting him in tGS.

Perrin is really far behind in the timeline. Rand had visions of Perrin with Galad by the Sword Statue in tGS, and we haven't even seen that yet it ToM. Really far behind.

Yes. So glad Perrin is making a respectable comeback after Winter's Night. And I even find myself, soooooo ashamed to admit it, but kind of sort of scarcely liking bits of Faille as well. Love the wolves ideas of teachings when it comes to Perrin. Very interesting insights.

You are very right about this. Perrin's story arc is way behind, as Tam is with Rand at this point and as stated, the cleansing of Saidin has only happened a few weeks ago according to the Ashaman. I am worried about Perrin here, actually, particularly after the dark prophecy about him dying. Apparently he is still alive when Tam comes to Rand or else Tam would have said something, but I am getting the feeling that something serious is going to happen to Perrin in this book. Anybody else?
