Hello all. I'm CrimsonRayn. Though I'm a new member, I've been a fan of Jordans work since the onset of The Wheel of Time. I currently am a collector of his works, particularily in this series. I hold 8 (eight) first editions, including a recent acquire of The Eye of The World. I'm very excited. Though I am at odds with myself. I'm having trouble destinguishing if the books I have a true first editions. I don't know how Tor identifies them. I think I'm correct, but I'm just unsure. Plus, some of my first editions are "First Trade Edition". Now what does that mean. I paid for a first edition and this is what I got. If anyone has any information on how to identify my books please send me an email at jamesbedwell4motorsports@yahoo.com Thank you.

This site has a section on finding the first editions of the books: http://www.encyclopaedia-wot.org/ under Bibliography and Collectibles. I myself have purchased almost all the books in Hardback First Edition, First Printing, but Eye of the World and The Great Hunt I have in First Edition Tradepaperback. So it's nice to see a fellow enthusiest. :D

And don't forget to go to vote on the Asmodean thread.

Hi Crimson... welcome to DM :)

I was going to recommend Kadere as the resident expert... but I see he's already introduced himself 8) Myself, I am on my second run of ordinary paperbacks as the first lot fell apart. NS, CoT and KoD I have in hardback... good indicator as to when I started reading tWoT..lol.

Thanks all for your info. Good luck finding a first edition hard cover w/ the dust jacket intact and the book in like new condition. The only one, other than the one i found, would've cost me around $800. Most of us that have them are very touchy about relinquishing them. All of mine are like new, hard cover, w/ like new jackets; but they did cost me about $30 to $50 apiece. But to me, it's just a drop in the bucket to have the collection of a legend.

I got Winter's Heart, Crossroads of Twilight, New Spring, and Knife of Dreams in first edition hardback when they were first released. Path of Daggers I found in a Borders book store by pure luck, A Crown of Swords I had to find in a used book store in Houston, Texas, and Dragon Reborn, Shadow Rising, and Fires of Heaven I all got at a used book store in Ann Arbor, Michigan (along with the trade paperbacks). Lord of Chaos I had to order online.

Also got a first edition copy of A Game of Thrones and A Clash of Kings at that same used book store in Ann Arbor, and A Storm of Swords I had to order online. A Feast for Crows I got when it came out. But my edition of A Game of Thrones is missing it's dustjacket. :(

Sounds like you've been VERY lucky with the book store near you. I, on the other hand don't have a used store near me that i'm aware of. Most of mine i had to order online. Everyonce in a while i get lucky and find something at a rumage sale, but sometimes it's not so lucky. Oh well. I'm still yet to get 2, 3, and now 5 yet again. Stupid soda.

GRRRRRRRR!!!!!
