Making a waygate "box"

I've been thinking, is it possible to place a waygate horizontal? And if it is, does that means that if you collect 5 chanellers you could make a box of 5 waygates... That would be pretty kewl 'cause no one could reach you in the box, but you could look out and exit whenever you want :)

 

Has anyone else ever thought of this?

Do you mean gateways? Waygates are organic things, grown by ter'angreal, and no i imagine you couldn't have a horrizontal one... they grow.

 

Yes it is possible to make a horrizontal gateways, and theoretically a gateway box, though it would likely be small, and a channeler could merely slice the weaves. If you needed to escape an enemy that couldn't channel... merely shield yourself, or travel away, if they can neithers gonna help much.

id like to see/read a WAYgate box, ie four waygates, corner to corner.

 

Imagine the breaking of physics laws involved - even more so than a normal waygate.

Lol ... well, if he buys channeling, he would have to think of them as miniature controlled wormholes. Space-time (read, the Pattern) does bend after all, so if you had access to the matter-energy that drove time (read, the Power) then you should be able to bend space-time (the Pattern) in such a way as to eliminate the physical distance between two separate points in space-time (the Pattern). Of course, this is one of the many reasons why channeling is fiction.

RJ has a strong background in physics, most of his 'magic' is based in logic. As he said, if your asking someone to believe something fantastic, make it as realistic as possible.

Even then it seems....flawed. Better to go "Let's Make a Deal" style and have them side by side.

Now what could work is an archery bouncing shield.

Escentially you would place the gateways above your troops or on the ground, basically at the exact trajectory enemy troops would lay down a volley of arrows at you. Then you would put another gateway approximately 30 feet in the air, at a 45 degee angle *facing the enemy downward* that way when they toss there volley of arrows, it gets thrown right back at them. Your enemy troops could also theoretically jump into the portal and into battle with less 'running' and have more ommpf. But rand does this already with out the 20 foot drop. :D

yep, i read the books in swedish so I wasn't sure, but I mean the thing you make when you Travel :)

Yep, I think I'll buy them in english when all books are finished... Hopefully they'll release a limited edition with handmade leather cover :P
