I'm considering imposing mandatory deadlines for standard games.  I'll chat with Wes on this, but here's a quick breakdown of the last handful of days:

 

Today (7/27) - 6 posts all talking about waiting for the final player

7/26 - nothing, and this was on a Monday for crying out loud!

7/25 - 1 emote post by the mod, and nothing by players....

7/24 - nada (I know it was a Saturday, but nothing?)

7/23 - 2 posts, nothing game related

7/22 - 2 posts

 

I know perhaps Tigs had family issues or something...we all do at some point.....but this has been waaaayyyyyy too long of a phase.  Nothing against you, Wombat, as you've modded a solid game.  We just need to get these things rolling a bit faster so that the next game can start.

 

What are your thoughts?

I'm not sure if that question was directed at Wombat or all of us. But I'll give my thoughts. Since when do I wait to be asked, anyway?  ;D

 

We've been waiting on one player a lot in this game. One or another. I don't know that a deadline is going to do anything more than hand the win to one side. Even if I was on that side, I wouldn't like winning that way. I do think that some suggestions to the mod via PM (such as to poke and then replace players if they don't respond to the poke or whatever you think is appropriate) might be a better way to go. Although I can see where you OG mods wouldn't want to babysit the games. That would take a lot of time.

 

I also think Standard isn't the queue that needs attention. Themed is MUCH longer and has been slowed down for quite a while now. I'd much rather mod on this board, but I'm looking elsewhere just to get the games I have written played. Certain epic games, such as Wes' Suras and Pandy's create a role could be considered outside the queue, simply because they are sequels and epic.

 

That's my two cents, and as always, it doesn't bother me if you think I'm full of hot air. 

 

At any rate, this game is over in a matter of hours if Tigs doesn't get online and vote.

I agree.  I'm going to poke people on the themed games, and if it lags, I'll just skip to the next person in line.

 

As for standard, I agree that it sucks to win that way, but it's just as bad to sit and wait out the inevitable.  6 of one, half a dozen of the other, I guess.  :-\

I agree - you don't want a win because of inactivity. I know Tigs has been having little time online lately though and I really hope all is well with her.

 

And well... it would have been nice to see if I was able to help bring the town to a win, or if the evil, clearly scummy mafia Lily would have seduced the voting with her slippery deceptions!!!

It was fun! I never usually play so aggressively, it was fun to try out. It was only the inactivity that saved us in the end, really. Good game :D

LOL I agree! That had to have been the flimsiest fake-claim ever that I made there, but it was fun making it!!!! Really, we had no other option, so there you have it.

Yeah...well....I killed you, lol.  I was testing your claim, assuming you'd protect yourself.  Which you would have....you know...had you not missed the deadline.  :P  *thwap*

 

And then with all the inactivity, I decided to start killing people with my VK each night.  I picked the most suspicious to me, and was going to work down that list each night until I died or we won.  Didn't get very far....hehe.
