Thundercats Ho!

Cartoon Network has commissioned a new series from Warner Bros. Animation based on 1980's animated classic "ThunderCats".

According to The Live Feed, the series follows the grand origin story of Prince Lion-O’s ascension to the throne – and of those who would thwart his destiny at any cost.

As the forces of good and evil battle each other in the quest for the fabled Stones of Power, Lion-O and his champions learn valuable lessons of loyalty, honor and mortality.

Hopefully this doesn't turn out to be like all those horrible re-makes/new series of Transformers (sorry to anyone out there that actually likes them but they, IMO are CRAP), and also I hope that they don't follow the same trend with cartoons/childrens shows of making them too PC, there is NOTHING wrong with seeing Lion-O smacking Jackelman in the nose!!!

Back in 2007 it was reported that Warner Bros. Pictures were working on a CG-animated "Thundercats" movie, a project that never really took off and has seemingly been forgotten. The franchise instead has moved on with a new anime-inspired, traditionally animated series on the way later this year.

Today however, Flixist has discovered what they claim to be test footage of that CG film reboot which "Gears of War" art director Jerry O’Flaherty was to helm. The footage is franky very cheesy, and without the proper context as to what it is, it's hard to judge. See for yourself below before someone takes it down:

This is not the Cartoon that Cartoon network is working on but rather the movie that 'Almost' happened.

i watch stuff

"Remember back when there was going to be a Thundercats movie, and Tyrese might have been in it? Anyway, that possibility loomed for a while a few years ago, and now some hard evidence has turned up of just how far Warner Bros. got with the project. Test footage! Of an supremely-obnoxious, perma-smirked Lion-O getting into a little scuffle.

Have a look. The visuals are pretty sharp if you can get past Lion-O looking like Matthew McConaughey as Handsome Rocky Dennis."

I'm not all that sure I like the new look. It's just a little too smooth. I hate watching the new makes of the old cartoons for this reason. I really hope that the storyline is better than the art, but in either case, I'll at least give it a watch if it comes out.

Yea it will get a try I grew up on the Thunder Cats and Tiger Sharks cartoon era so I am hopeing that they get this going good. But I am with you I sort of miss the grainy look. I just re-watched the Orginal GI-Joe cartoon the other day (I got the copy as a gift) and it wonderfull to see the classic art and film style.

because i was like 3 when TMNT and Ghostbusters came out and that's the only ones my mom let me watch because the violence wasn't over the top

that, and i'm a girl; so as a little tike, even though i was a tom boy; things liek Transformers wouldn't have appealed to me until i was around 6 or 7; and by then Transformers had gone all stupid and MMPR had started up. Go Green Ranger!!! cause you sucked when you became the White Ranger Tommy!! you hear me!! YOU SUCKED!!!

I liked the TMNT remake, before they did the "Flash Foward" crap. From what I understand, it was more inline with the original comic books. And the remake wasn't PC, there was one episode where Leonardo and Casey Jones were fighting a guy and I thought Leo was going to rip the guy's head off.

And he's the pacifist of the four.

I also liked the CG TMNT movie.

meh, call me an oldie, but i liked the toonish more friendly version of them. the CGI was good on them for the movie (i was tlaking more of the cartoon remake they did after the new movie) but Secret of the ooz FTW.

*chants* Go Ninja, Go Ninja, GO!

um, Leo was never the pacifist, that was Donnie. he was the brains and only faught when he had too. Leo was the leader and fought a bit though always did what was best for the turtles. Micky was the comic relief and annoying yet funny younger brother; Ralph was the hot headed one.

so did anyone catch it this Friday?? i did and added it to my DVR. the animation style reminds my of "Avater: Last Air Bender" so i'm not complaining ... though i could do with out Lion-o's hair looking ike Goku's from DBZ lmao i keep expecting it to light up or something.

it's a pleasant cartoon, though bubba was pointing out the stuff they've changed. i woudln't know this becuase i never watched the originals ... what i was born in '85 give me a break  i'm thinking about catchign the older ones on watchcartoonsonline.com if they have them. i know they have ghostbusters & voltron and Transformers there so hopefully they will!!

anyways, i could tell the political undercurrents they gave to it concerning lion-o's outlook on how the lizards were being treated, kinda meh on that. i miss the old cartoons where villans were villans and that was that *shrugs* but it seems like it's got alot goign for it.

i know one thing though, Bubba had alot to grumble about when they said that Panther dude was dead. maybe lion-o and co,. will come across him on their journey or something.
