Rand - Richard

Callandor - Sword of Truth

One Power/True Power - Additive/Subtractive

saidin/saidar - male/female gift

Creator - Creator

Aes Sedai - Sisters of the Light

Black Ajah - Sisters of the Dark

Darkfriend - Baneling

Lan - Chase

Amyrlin - Prelate

Balefire - Chainfire. Oh my God. Balefire, more than any of them, should never be ripped off.

Darken Rahl was cool. Gratch was original. Richards swordfighting, in my oppinion, was better than reading Rands swordfighting sometimes. But Sword of Truth doesnt just have similar characters, it even has similar events. Rand and Richard both drove their sword into the ground, to prove that they would return. Both men find out that their parents were not who they thought. Rand is referred to as the bringer of death once or twice; Richard calls himself that as well, and people were expecting someone to call themselves that. That makes them aware somehow that they must follow Richard in a sense yet they fear him because of it. Both men have the same eyes. Both men become tyrants, but it somehow makes Richard the good guy more. Both are blademasters; because of that, Richard can make statues that literally make people who see it cry.

It doesnt annoy me as such, I just think its really funny because of how easy it is to see which way round it is, even though Im sure Terry says he didnt read Wheel of Time.

I had to stop reading SoT in the middle of ... I don't remember which book  but at the beginning it has a really evil chicken.. looks the same as all other chickens but it is evil.. wow.  That's as far as I got in that one.  Interestingly enough my aunt once sent me an email saying TG and RJ were the same person lol

Damn you Barm. For implying I like SoT you shall lose both your eyes, a hand and an ear. There are some insults you never give, no matter what day it is.

I'm accustomed to what sigs look like but for some reason whenever I see yours I literally think tons of people are asking that question and you are some kind of robot answering machine.

probably should have read

Dark One/DO == Keeper

Ishmael/Morridin == Darken Rahl

Demandred == Jagang

and maybe

Lanfear == Nicci

although supposedly Nicci turned to the "good" side... at least that was what I got from her pages and pages of magical exposition speeches, only slightly more interesting than Richard's moralising, in the last few books. Yes I finished it I am stubborn that way, although you can skip whole chapters from the last 3 books without missing anything of the story... Up to Faith of the Fallen was actually quite good in a generic adventure fantasy way, wish he had looked more at the moral implications of a Confessor's power for society (he only really looked at Kahlan's feelings on this, which admittedly was more than the tv adaptation bothered to do)... I tend to block the whole evil chicken out when I do a serious re-read but it fits in perfectly if you read the series as if it was a parody of the genre, which it actually works quite well as for anyone who can't bring themselves to read it in a serious light (that's how I got through to the end from Pillars of Creation with only throwing each book oh say 100 times each)

Ahhh, that feels so much better!

Pity you've now exceeded sig rules, and must be banned. Tragic, really.  :P

That leaves me with two thoughts--one, it may be time for a new sig. And two... what type of creepy organic answering machine do you have?

I've done that. The local council were most annoyed.
Rand is referred to as the bringer of death once or twice; Richard calls himself that as well, and people were expecting someone to call themselves that.
I've been called that. And Destroyer of Worlds, the Gathering Darkness, the Oncoming Storm and, Oi, you.
That makes them aware somehow that they must follow Richard in a sense yet they fear him because of it.
I get that all the time.
Both men have the same eyes.
No, that one isn't me.
Both men become tyrants, but it somehow makes Richard the good guy more.
True of me as well.
Both are blademasters; because of that, Richard can make statues that literally make people who see it cry.
Seems to sum up my sculpture skills. Well, there was also some screaming, and one person going insane from the revelation of things that man is not meant to know. Good Zeus, the parallels are too great, it can only mean one thing - I'm the protagonist of a popular fantasy series! I knew I was too good to be true.

I have bloody bleeding read them books but dont remember the evil chicken. Which book was that? Also is it the chicken out of family guy?

Fire soul?  Soul of Fire?  Fires of Heaven?  Some fire somewhere.  And no, that chicken is not nearly as evil as the family guy chicken.

I am so glad I stopped reading that horrid series before I got to that part.  The last thing I remember reading was about some nasty beast with spiky private parts and...well, the rest really doesn't matter.  I couldn't take it after that.

I thought the first five books of the series were great, as was the last one... but in between, the entire series basically became a referendum on the dangers, evils and pervasiveness of socialism - certainly an important cautionary tale, especially at this time in our great nation - but it got a little repetitive and preachy for a while there.
