Who's going to die?

Now I'm not expecting the kind of wholesale slaughter that George R.R. Martin likes to engage in, but we all know that someone's going to have to die. Probably a number of someone's. I included (and excluded) the names above because some other characters have some pretty good evidence that they will survive, at least temporarily, and tried to avoid too many of the main characters.

 

You can select up to five answers... and of course, any discussion as to how, why or what the effects of those deaths might be is encouraged.

My guesses are Leane, Cadsuane, Birgitte, Fain & Rhuarc.

 

Cadsuane has lived longer than expected already. Fain seems like he will serve his function as wild card, and die as a consequence of that (the way it's set up by RJ). Rhuarc is where the battle is the hottest, and he's getting old.  :D  Birgitte must be reunited with her man - the Wheel will see to it. Leane could be one of many Aes Sedai to die. There's a lot of OP battle to come...

These characters would either need to stay alive or need to return from death because they either have prophecies left to fulfill or may be needed to fulfill another character's prophecies::

-Lan: he has not fulfilled the very first Viewings about him (7 towers, baby with sword)

-Nynaeve: she may be needed to fulfill Lan's baby Viewing

-Galad: he may be Berelain's 'man in white'

-Gawyn: Egwene had a number of prophetic Dreams about him

-Moiraine: Min had a number of untold Viewings about her

-Thom: may need to fulfill his first Viewings (White Tower, man channeling fire)

-Berelain: she has yet to become in love with a 'man in white'

-Cadsuane: she may need to teach Rand and the Ashamen something

-Birgitte: Min had many Viewings about her

-Min: she will be one of Aviendha's 2 sister-wives, and Rand's 3 loves would be alive at Rand's death; Nicola's Foretelling in Lord of Chaos Chapter 14 may also need to be fulfilled (3 on boat, and he who is dead yet lives)

-Faile: she is needed for Perrin to gain Saldaea's throne

From those, Moiraine might be the most likely to return from death.

 

There is one character from the poll that may be predicted to die::

-Leane (a transparent mask of her own face, a screaming mask)

 

Fain, not predicted to die; but there would be a slight chance for him to survive this series.

 

The others currently in the poll, they might die or might live or might return from death; there is nothing in the books that tell for certain.

 

Two characters that are not in the poll that might die::  Bashere & Tenobia

Those two would need to either die or abdicate for Perrin to gain Saldaea's throne.

i always thought that was just telling us who he was.  He told the story that when Malkier fell that his dad put his sword in his crib and the other guys swore over him saying he would protect him.  And the towers were just to wondering who he really was because we know now that they are the 7 towers of Malkier.

 

i picked Nyneave, Brigitte Fain, Faiel

i always thought that was just telling us who he was.

Viewings are always about the future, never about the past. Robert Jordan told so.

second i always thought of it more of a defining viewing than a future viewing, like min was seeing who he was not just a warder. but hey the past could repeat itself this is the wheel of time

A great many of those foretellings/prophecies/viewings can and will be fulfilled in the final two books... no doubt leaving plenty of time for the characters in question to still die.
