Detecting Channeling

So, we all know that men can feel goosebumps when women channel (unless they mask the ability).

 

And, earlier I read a post where someone said something about women detecting men....

We know that AS found a new weave to detect a man channeling (somewhere in Bk 10 or 11)...

 

But are there any other ways of detecting another person channeling?

 

Now, I know women can see the glow, and sense when a woman is channeling. (men can only sense when the men embrace and cannot feel how strong they are until they actually take hold of Saidin)....

But, in New Spring, Moiraine feels a tingle when Siuan channels, and she remarks how this is odd and that the tingling should pass with time.

We never really know if that tingle went away.

 

Moiraine felt that small tingle again as the light of saidar briefly surrounded the other woman.  Any woman who could channel could feel another wielding the Power if she was close enough, but the tingle was unusual. Women who spent a lot of time together in their training sometimes felt it, but the sensation was supposed to fade away over time. Hers and Siuan's never had.

 

 

Now it could be nothing, but RJ had a lot of foresight and had so many things planned out......

Do you thing it means anything?

A couple of things... first, Moraine and Siuan were uncommonly close. Pillow-friends close (what I wouldn't give to have beena  fly on THAT wall, but I digress...). Its possible that that closeness, learning to channel together, their being raised together, etc. may have bonded them on some level or made them more sensitive to one another.

 

Also, its left pretty deliberately ambiguous... as in 'supposed to pass with time'. Supposed to fade? In how much time?

 

I honestly think it was merely meant as a point to drive home just how uncommonly close Moraine and Siuan were, both to illustrate how important thier task was and their dedication to it that they would set aside that closeness to do their duty, a duty only they two could perform.

 

My thoughts, anyway.

True...it could all be just literary to show how close they were...

 

But I just thought that it was weird....

 

I don't think the same thing happened to Egwene and Elayne....But the minute they met..they could feel each other channeling...and see the glow....

Again, just spit-balling here, but those two were both very, very strong with the power compared to most other Aes Sedai.

Exactly...

 

Both Siuan and Moiraine were the same in the Power....or close to it anyways....

 

Could be Power related...not just the closeness of the women....

If I am not mistaken, only terangreal allow saidar channelers to detect saidin.

i think after Egwene is captured...and there is a Hall meeting...when they find out about Shadar Logoth...

one of the women bring in the Asha'man who stare doen the AS and tell them that Eben (i think..the really young one...like 16) died to protect 2 AS.....

 

And another AS comes in and has him weave a flow towards a sitter, and he weaves spirit to one.....

Yep.  They confirm they can detect them channeling.  They couldn't detect him holding the power though. Didn't go any furthur with this though.

Yes.  She did.  I don't think the boys can do that.  But they know when the ladies are holding onto Saidar.

we know that AS lost a lot of stuff....

but some of the forsaken have said that they are amazed that the primitive AS have made or discovered weaves (i.e. healing stilling, warder bond)...
