A Sense of Doom--The Borderlander Incident

In CoT Min says this "And there's something... dark... in the images I saw around Lord Davram. If he turns against you, or dies...". I'll get to the point now. Specifically what I suggest is that the second time of Rand being hurt by women who can channel is at the hands of these Aes Sedai and that they take him during a meeting, during the course of which both Bashere and Tenobia are killed--Bashere's death thereby being dark for Rand, as per Min's viewing. Furthermore I also suggest that this is the second time in which Rand will need Perrin.

Only problem is with this. Min, after seeing the dark "Aura" or whatever, says "If he dies or turns against you." Ominously implying that Bashere's death (Or his very unlikely betrayal) would directly, negatively effect Rand and/or his battle against the shadow. I don't think it....Counts, I guess lol, if Basher is simply killed during an attempt to capture or kill Rand. Unless Bashere's death is the direct cause of Rand being caputred or killed or incapacitated, or whatever "Dark" thing is supposed to happen to him. Rand grieving over Bashere or the loss of a skilled general doesn't really constitute "Dark" in my opinion.

Also, now I think of it, is it written in stone that Bashere is required to take the throne if Tenobia dies? Or can he abdicate it some how? Probably stupid question but hey.

It seems extremely unlikely that he would not be able to abdicate. Heck, it would not even have to go that far, just flat out refuse to take the crown, and saldea would turn to Faile rather quickly, so they would not have to sit there with an empty throne.

The books actually state that the borderlanders cant go without a ruler - or atleast civil wars etc, so succession can never be in doubt...

btw, an Asha'Man kills Tenobia, Borderlanders come and attack rand or the black tower, blight starts up again, everyones screwed, black Ajah kills Bashere.

why would an asha'man kill Tenobia??my guess is maybe Demandred is involved in this..he hasnt appeared yet and maybe he is trying to plant 'seeds of chaos' among the borderlanders

why would one try and kill rand? :P im bored

I think what the borderlanders do or don't do depends almost entirely on Bashere, and maybe Tenobia.  The size of the force is irrelevant; they will do whatever they are told.  Bashere doesn't want to talk with Tenobia; I think his goals are not the same as hers, and that probably relates to Taim.  And Min's viewing of Bashere shows true trouble for Rand if Bashere dies or is dark...it won't be good if either of those happen.  It will be better for Rand if Bashere sticks around.  If Bashere dies or goes to the dark, then the control of the borderland armies goes to someone else, and THAT could be huge trouble for Rand.
