I have to admit, this is a tough one to call. I like both songs, but my vote goes to Smooth Criminal.

Right...I am trying to dodge my internet failing on me (like it has done so for the last 3 or 4 nights), so I hope I can move this forward.

With my vote coming last, it gives the win to Smooth Criminal, which progresses to the semi-final stage.

Now, it is time for the last tie of the 2nd Round.

Round 2, Tie 4

Bad

The second single from the Bad album, that reached number 1 is several countries worldwide. It was intended to be a duet with his rival, Prince.

Oh, geez, and both have such cultural significance, too! Thiller gave us the zombie dance, and Bad altered the language. However, we're judging song alone, not the video really. In that, Thriller is still rather strong, but Bad wins out.

My vote is for Bad.

The M-G's vote is also for Thriller.

I apologise for not moving this forward, but I have been struggling with my internet connection. It keeps cutting out on my every 5 or so minutes, so have given up for the last few nights (and tried posting as best as I can - that also explains why there has been no "Tune or No Tune" this week). Things seems better tonight, so I will get the first semi-final up later on.

Before I totally forget, time to conclude that round. And Thriller wins by 3 votes to 1.

Time for the first semi-final!

Semi-Final, Tie 1

Beat It

Released in 1983, Beat It was the third single off the record breaking album, Thriller. It reached number 1 in a host of charts. The guitar solo is performed by Eddie Van Halen, and Jackson's first foray into rock 'n' roll.

vs.

Smooth Criminal

The seventh single from the Bad album, the song contains a fast-paced beat intertwined with Jackson's lyrics about a woman named Annie, who has been attacked in her apartment by an assailant. It charted at number 1 in many countries, but managed only 7 in the US, and 8 in the UK.

Another tough one for me, and even though at this rate it won't win, I'll vote for Black or White. It's still one of the very few songs that I can't resist dancing a little bit to.

And Thriller moves into the final with a 4-1 win over Black or White.

The Grand Final and 3rd/4th Play-off posts are about to go up.
