The top 5 cities you've visited and why

1. Ottawa, Canada

Ottawa was the first large city I walked around alone at 1am and felt no fear for my own safety. It was clean, Canadians are nice, and for a big city--it was really quiet. I had this moment during the afternoon when I was near a really big building with lots of steps, and hot dog vendors were everywhere (and pigeons or seagulls or something), and people were everywhere sitting on the steps eating their lunches. From an artistic perspective, it was an amazing sight.

2. Napa Valley, California

Napa is so beautiful, in it's own way. It's dry, and it's surrounded by mountains, but the vines and the incredible homes of the vineyards--so much history and extravagance. I have a lot of family that live in Napa, and it is always so lovely and relaxing to visit there.

3. San Francisco, California

Wow. If you want to go somewhere, for the specific purpose of being swept off of your feet, and have so much to do that there is never a moment where you can stop to take a breath...SF is the place to be. Beautiful structures, the bridges, the bay, alcatraz, the Piers (where seals like to bask--they are so lazy!), and so many other things. Even the houses are interesting. The cable cars make you want to sing the Rice a Roni jingle. The only thing I absolutely hated were the roads. The angles are so sharp going up, you sit there and pray for a green light so you don't have to be at a 75 degree angle and start moving from a complete stop. The front tires actually come off the road for a few moments. I literally cried because I was so scared to start moving. I now refuse to drive in that city. :/

Bah, pop quiz. I need to finish this later.  >:(

hmmm, I'll probably think of more later, but I've only got one to add so far.

1. Jefferson, Texas

I went here for a haunted Halloween tour. This place is a living ghost town! It still has brick roads, old broken down hotels from the 1800s, and many of the buildings are the originals. This place is just one giant hot spot for ghosts and all sorts of activity! For an avid ghost hunter like me, the place was a goldmine of information :o

I love how you said top 5 and only listed 3. Kudos! xd

I'd list Bergen, Norway as #1, but I live here so that's not fair.

Anyhow

1. New York City, USA

This place... Dude. It was huge, friggin' huge, everything I expected it to be and so much more. And they had totally awesome steaks there, and the view at midnight from the top of the empire state building, I'll never forget. Awesome, awesome palce.

2. Nice, France

Because I went there with my class last year, and we had such a great time there, and the palce was really, really nice and the beaches and restaurants and the people and the weather, and I really liked it? I guess, yeah!

3. Rome, Italy

This place, MAN, it was huge and amazing and had so much history in every building, every street, you almost felt as if you were hundreds of years back in time, and it had such an awesome atmosphere. Also, amazing food and I bought a Godfather t-shirt there, so good times all around, yeah!

4. Corfu, Greece

A greek island, which was just lovely and nice and hospitable, with beaches and ruins and lots of greek stuff and all-round lovely place!

5. Not sure yet, yarrr.

In no particular order...

1. New York City, USA

Wow, that city is so alive, Times Square at night is the greatest thing ever, I saw two Broadway shows, both incredibly good, (one was Tom Sawyer, another was a Chinese Acrobat show), there's bookstores everywhere and a constant bustle of people, Hell's Kitchen, even as a slum had lots of character to it, I would go back for sure, in fact, I need to go back sometime, my Uncle has invited me to come down and do dinner with him.

2. Havanah, Cuba

Such an old city, there's so much culture there, and some of the buildings are incredible to look at. Unfortunately, I was sick the day we went to Havanah, and missed out on some of it as a result. I would like to go back if only to see what I missed.

3. Cozumel, Mexico

I was 10 when I went here, so my memories are a bit vague, however, there was artists on the street doing their sidewalk painting, one place we sat down had a guy with a parrot, and he handed the parrot to me, who proceeded to walk up my arm and jump up to the top of my head, and there's lots of little stalls everywhere, I had so much fun there. Another city I'd return to in an instant.

4. Umea, Sweden

A quaint little city with lots of old buildings, statues and whatnot, there's plenty of trees and nature in general to make it very pretty. Also not too busy, and the downtown area had huge sections where people could just walk with no cars to worry about. I know I'll be back in this city at some point.

5. Ottawa, Ontario

The big city with a small town feel, thats what I got from it, Ottawa actually has a bylaw that requires every city block to have a certain amount of grass, which makes it probably one of the most beautiful cities on the planet. They've got a market place that was just starting to open up when I was there in April, and I want to go back in summer to experience it in full bloom. Ottawa has a tulip festival, as in the spring they have tulips everywhere, and they've got museums worth visiting up the wazoo (War Museum, Museum of Civilization, etc.), and the most impressive thing I thought was when we walked down the Ridou Canal. I don't think I've ever seen that many people going for a bike ride or a run in my life, as I did during that short 20 minute walk. Ottawa is a place I would go to live, if I stay in Canada.

Another reason why Umeå is great, you get calzones like this:

:D

Anyways.

1. Rome, Italy.

I love ancient Rome and there's something special about walking through the streets of Rome and looking at all these ancient structures. The city also has a great atmosphere and the food is awesome.

2. Paris, France.

I've been to Paris several time and it's such an awesome city. Great food, great architecture. There are lots of things to see, and I don't find the people as rude as everyone makes them out to be.

3. London, UK.

I love London and I love the UK. I have a dream of living in London and having a season ticket at Stamford Bridge. That would be awesome. That being said, I prefer the small towns in the UK over London. Living at the Red Lion Hotel in Salisbury or at some bed & breakfast in Scotland are some of my favourite holiday memories. London is still great though. :D

4. Geneva, Switzerland.

Beautiful city with LOTS of chocolate. Need I say more? I only stayed there for a couple of days, so I didn't get to see everything, but I definetely recommend it.

5a. Clécy, France.

A tiny town in Normandie where I stayed a couple of weeks. The people didn't know English, and that was awesome. The town has many manor houses and old stone churches.

5b. Gaeta, Italy.

I stayed in a neighbouring city, Formia, which is only a few kilometres away, and went to visit Gaeta once. They had the most amazing strawberry icecream ever! Yeah. :P

I could've said Copenhagen instead of Clécy and Gaeta, but I like to spite the Danes.
