Wheel of Time Books, Alternate Covers

Several years ago I was in Hong Kong and saw a several of the Wheel of Time books with more simplistic covers.  They were all mass market paperback sized, and I was not in a position to purchase them at that time.  However I am now considering purchasing the entire series (again, but would prefer to have the covers I found back then.

Basically, if I recall correctly, each book was a solid color, and had the common icon (two dragons and the wheel) in the center embossed on each, though I may be mistaken as to that, they may have each had a seperate icon like those at the start of each chapter.

Does anyone know where these came from, and by chance where I might be able to find them now?

Thanks

Man, those look so much better than the U.S. versions.  I resisted these books for 4 years because even though I heard good things, the covers looked so lame and silly.  They say never judge a book by its cover, but people do, so why not make it look good?

Actually, all TOR book covers look silly.  And the fall apart.  I actually am waiting to get Brandon Sanderson's Hero of Ages in paperback, not because the hardback was too expensive, but because the artwork on the paperback is so much better looking.

I'm just glad TOR has some good authors in their stable, because the presentation is awfully shoddy.

I also saw those covers while somewhere in the Asian area (Singapore perhaps) and i also thought they looked very sharp.

Once the series has completely finished i plan on rebuying the whole set in hardback and would love to find them with those covers.

Orbit only published the hardcovers with those covers from Book 10 onwards (including New Spring), so you won't find Books 1-9 in hardcover in those covers because they don't exist. Also, UK hardcovers do not stay in print (unless it's Harry Potter or something mega-famous) past their original releases, so you'll be hard-pressed to find Books 10 or 11 unless it's second-hand.

There is a possibility that Orbit may re-release the whole series in hardcover once it's finished, but I wouldn't bet money on that. They tried a limited hardcover reissue a few years ago (with the old covers) and it didn't seem to take off (I think they stopped after reissuing the first three), so they probably won't do it again.

Oh yeah, if you do want the paperback covers don't go for Amazon as their international shipping charge is fairly expensive. Go to:

www.thebookdepository.co.uk

They have international free shipping and it should work out cheaper.
