This thread is to speculate what form the Dark One would take when he comes out.

Some sites suggested Shaidar Haran.

Some suggested Padan Fain.

 

To me it cannot be Fain because of Moridin wanting him dead (Winter's Heart Chapter 13).

 

These to me would be some possibilities:

-some body newly dead (not necessarily human body)

-a Shadowspawn

-some Darkfriend (most likely a channeling one)

-a mix of bodies (likely dead ones and/or with a darkfriend channeler in them)

-some miasma created entity

I think like a man-shape that is like... swallowing light. Just darkness, with a dark aura around him and a mixture of the Ways and Rand/Mat/Perrin aura... kind of thing. If we do actually see him.

Fain is a fusion between the original Fain and Mordeth. Evil, but opposing evil to the DO.

 

Shaidar Haran is a shadow form of the DO. RJ said that he isn't an Avatar to the DO, because he thought an Avatar would have the same abilities and so on. So, maybe he is a "weakened" form of the DO's personality. Now shrouded in the flesh of a giant Myrdraal. Sense of humor and all that. SH gets weaker when he is far away from Shayol Ghul.

 

The DO doesn't have any true form (the Guide). He is a dark counterpart to the Creator (RJ said so). If he ever broke free, I don't think there would be time for anyone to see him take any form. He would annihilate the Wheel and destroy the world. That's my opinion, anyway.

Lets say that if the DO escaped, and that he wouldn't destroy everything. I think that he would somehow go into SH, and then SH/Do would get the full power of the DO, and the DO would be able to go free. However, I think that even though SH isn't as poweful as the DO, he is a representative for the DO in the Wheel of Time.
