"Who Watches the Watchmen?" That has been the burning question on the minds of most of the citizens of the United States lately.  There was a time not long ago where costumed adventurers and vigilantes, called Masks because of their flair for wearing masks to hide their identities, were seen as champions of the people, able to go beyond the law to bring the real scum and villainy to justice.  They were our protectors in a time where officials could not be trusted.

 

It is now 2011 and President Barack Obama is seeking re-election after leading our nation through some very difficult and uncertain times.  He has issued a mandate that all Masks are hereby seen as Vigilantes and must be brought to justice.  The government should be trusted by its citizens and anyone that takes the law into his or her own hands is seen as outlaw. "These Masks are out of control," cried one citizen, "they are the Watchmen....yeah, well who watches them, huh?"

Many of the Masks have been forced into retirement or into hiding due to these mandates.  The very citizens who cheered for these costumed heroes are now calling for their heads.  It doesn't help that one of these such vigilantes, going by the name "The Comedian" had been brought up on charges for allegedly killing a poor 9 year old girl who got in the middle of his apprehension of Mafioso Boss Maloni.  Although he was acquitted of the charges, in the eyes of the masses, he is seen as a CHILD KILLER! 

 

As peace talks continue abroad with Islamic nations, President Obama has let his Vice President, Joe Biden, handle a government investigation into many of these Masks.  Biden is demanding that all Masks come forward and be tried for their crimes.  Ironically, The Comedian was absent from this list and rumors began to fly that he has been secretly working for the government. Rumors were also flying around that he had uncovered a horrible government secret and has called upon his fellow Masks to meet with him immediately. 

 

Perhaps that is why [glow=red,2,300]the Comedian[/glow] was found dead in his apartment at 8am this morning.

Welcome to Super Fast Mafia "Watchmen" which will be an 8-12 player game with 24 hour day and night phases.  This game will be very LOOSELY based on the Watchmen series in that each player will have a specific role related to their character in the series, but alignment is not necessarily as it seems.  If you are a fan of the series, then consider this a complete RE-IMAGINATION! If you are unfamiliar with the series, don't worry....it helps little. 

 

I am looking for 8 to 12 players to sign up and we will begin shortly after I have a full roster and I will begin to send out roles at this time.  Once you have received your role and alignment, then you may begin with DAY 1, which will end at the specified time.  Veterans are preferred, but newbies are very welcome!

 

Some tweaks to this game......this is not your standard mafia game!  It is not overly complicated, but there are some major tweaks that you need to be aware of....

 

ALL LYNCH VOTES WILL BE SENT TO ME VIA PRIVATE MESSAGE!!!  That's right, you may glow anything you like, but only votes sent to me via PM will count.  To change your vote, simply send me your revised vote via PM.  I will take only your most recent PM as your official vote.  Unless otherwise specified, if a majority lynch is not reached, then no one will be lynched. 

Quoting MOD PM's: Allowed...of course, we all know that this can be manipulated! 

 

Day/Night Actions:  Must be sent to me prior to the deadline.  They will be processed at the same time as all others, so do not worry about getting your night action before others....just get it to me before the deadline. 

 

Ending Days/Nights early: Of course, if all actions/votes etc are in before the deadline, I will go ahead and pull the trigger and end the phase early. 

 

Again, this is SUPER FAST MAFIA so I do not anticipate the game lasting for more than a week, at least, I don't imagine this....of course anything is possible.  Let me repeat....ANYTHING is POSSIBLE!!

Well then, WE would like to get at least two more players....ideally I would like to have 12, but we can roll with 8 if we need to....it is after all SUPERFAST Mafia.

Who Watches the Watchmen?

 

Day 1 -  120:00:00

 

President Barack Obama shall be returning to the United States today after successful negotiations with Islamic Muslim leaders in the Middle East.  It seems that the remaining Islamic Fundamentalists in the Region are nothing more than a fringe and thanks to successful cooperation, the world can breathe a sigh of relief.

In 5 days, President Obama will be delivering a State of the Union address where he will outline his new plan to bring the United States back into the forefront of World Diplomacy and begin the first steps to a global peace.  He assures us all that "World Peace is no longer just a dream, it will soon be a reality!"

 

Still, some skeptics are already criticizing Obama's ideals and some have even gone on as far as to say that Obama's having delusions of grandur and that his compromises have weakened our nation.  Senator John McCain, among others, have made pointed the finger at Obama for leaving us exposed for another attack like 9/11.   Supporters of Obama have fired back, citing that the days of living in fear are over as well as the days of mistrust in government. 

 

IN related news, Vice President Joe Biden has rallied Congress to approve the Keane Act, named after the late Senator who was brutally slain in a botched rescue attempt by these costumed vigilantes, known to our citizens as MASKS.  The Keane Act states that anyone who takes the law into his or her own hands will answer to the Federal Government and be charged with a capital offense, to include capital punishment.  "These Masks are not above the law," stated the Vice President, "and they will be brought to justice and tried as the Murderers that they are!"

Interestingly, Senator McCain has criticized this proposal, calling it a short sighted attempt to silence good citizens.  McCain leads a small, bipartisan group of Senators who are calling this Act a "witch hunt" in disguise, and urge the Act's reform.  "These Masks are just angry citizens like you and me. Although I cannot support taking the law into their own hands, I would like to see some sanctions open for those Masks who wish to put their skills to good use.  I would invited all Masks who wish to work WITH the government, not against it, to come forward."

 

Riots have erupted in Times Square today when the body of Edward Blake, a Mask who had gone by the name of The Comedian, had been found dead just moments ago.  Blake was tried yet acquitted for the alleged murder of a young girl during one of his vigilante assignments.  Arguments for and against these Masks turned into physical violence when Blake's body was taken away and angry rioters ransacked his condo and burned the place down. 

 

The United States continues to remain divided on the Masks issue.  In recent polls, nearly 54% of Americans feel that taking the law into ones own hands can be justified, a surprising 68% feel that the Masks should be tried as criminals and support capital punishment.  (+ - 15% margin of error)

Something is fishy about his murder....he had called each of you to come meet him at 9am to discuss a very dark and disturbing secret. Something about a government cover-up.....and that some of you might be involved.  What was he talking about?

It is now Night 1, which will conclude Friday 11PM Eastern Standard Time, or when all night actions have been submitted.  I will only take your first night action PM to me, so no changes.  You should have your roles and alignments by now so feel free to submit your night actions at any time.  No need to rush, all night actions will be processed at the same instant time; however, failure to submit a night action by 11PM EST will result in forfeit for the night.

Former crime fighter and acclaimed author Hollis Mason will be at the Times Square Book Barnes this evening for a book signing for his tell-all book Behind the Mask which dishes on some very interesting and graphic detail of the lives of New York's first masked crime fighting team, the Minutemen.  The book details some very incriminating evidence, such as Captain Metro's sexual orientation, the rather low IQ of Dollar Bill, and hints that the original Silk Spectre and accused child killer Edward Blake had a torrid relationship before and after she had charged him with assault.

In related news, it seems that Senator John McCain and his bipartisan group opposing the first draft of the Keene Act are set to speak before Congress tomorrow morning, and presenting a new draft which includes sanctions for Masks who choose to cooperate with the government.  President Obama has been unavailable for comment as he makes his way back from the Middle East; however, Vice President Joe Biden said in a press conference today that McCain's revision will have "a snowballs chance" of being ratified. 

 

Forecast for this evening is light rain, with a slight chance of thunderstorms.
