Hey everyone!

I've been lurking around here reading for a couple of weeks, and finally decided to join. I've been reading The Wheel of Time almost since it was new, and it is (obviously) among my favorite books. I just recently heard that Robert Jordan had died, and when I heard, it was like hearing an old friend was gone. But I'm glad someone else is going to finish the series for him, and I can't wait for the next book, though I'm sad that it will be the last. I'd like for it to go on and on...

A little about me now, I guess. I am 23, and female. I am originally from Oklahoma, and now I live in southern Colorado, in a log cabin in the middle of the mountains with three cats, a dog, a horse, a bird, and some fish. I went to Colorado State University for four and a half years, starting in veterinary medicine and finishing in fine arts, but have not finished my degree yet...I'm transferring to a small school to take my last few classes and get my Bachelor of Fine Arts degree this year. After that, I intend to go to graduate school and study to be a pastor. I currently am an assistant manager at a campground and run a small jewelry production business out of my home. In my free time, I like to read, paint (or anything else artistic), ride my beautiful and talented Arabian horse, Spirit, raise tropical fish, garden, write, sew, cook, and just generally enjoy the outdoors. I like to read fantasy books, mainly, with my favorites being Wheel of Time, Lord of the Rings, The Chronicles of Narnia (or anything by CS Lewis, really...), and The Sword of Truth (for the story, not the philosophy! lol) I also enjoy reading just about anything else though, from the classics to science textbooks. Well, that's all I can think of to say about myself for now. I look forward to getting to know at least some of you!

Welcome Spirit! I would love to live in the middle of the woods myself. I bet you have a lot of peace and quiet. You sound like a creative person so I'd like to invite you to visit the Illuminators Organization. That's where all of the really creative people like to hang out.

Anyways, I'm glad you found us.  :)

Thanks for the welcome, everyone!

Yes, it is pretty peaceful here in the woods, except for the occasional snobby vacationer who doesn't like the way we country folks do things. =) I will definitely check out the Illuminators, and everything else. I'd love to have some fellow artists/writers to talk with! I may disappear completely for a few weeks after this week, as I'm going on vacation and don't know if I'll have computer access. But I will come back, trust me!

That's exactly what happened to me too. I started undergrad in animal science/preveterinary medicine, but three years in they pretty much told me my chances of acceptance to vet school were none. I had a lot of trouble in chemistry, and not having any working experience in the field, well...that didn't help. It's very competitive. It's harder to get in vet school than medical school. Think about that next time you have to go to the doctor lol!

Fencing? That's pretty cool. If there was anywhere around here to do that, I'd try it out myself. I used to have a friend who had some wooden practice swords we played with a lot. Those things hurt when you get hit lol! I can commiserate with the Wheel of Time characters when they hit each other with practice swords--Ouch!

nods i wasnt motivatated either, i was fed up with classes i had no interest in and didnt see the use of keep having, so part of the bad aka decreasing grades was due to that, i had a B average before high school, though i never achived that again, my grades did go up when i started college after a year off once i finished high school

went into the agricultural studies and should in a few months finish my master degree

the fencing was more like a weekend course administered by the sports club at my last college, thats why i got the chanse

Your love of horses would make you an ideal person to join the Cavalry Regiment of the Band of the Red Hand ORG...once you reach a certain rank, you get to be named a Lady and name your horse. Now isn't that a tempting offer?  ;)

But have fun wherever you end up at DM! :)
