Warder Character

...Oh, why not.

Yes, apparently the five characters i already have running around tearing the place apart isn't enough, as my Muse is pestering me to create another. A Warder this time. Still, this brings up a couple of questions.

  • I have a WT Novice already, which i intend to keep. Would this matter?
  • Disciplines and Paths. I found what they are on the site, i just can't figure out how many i'm allowed to have.
  • What's a Philosophy? I've seen two (out of many) bios with one so far, both listing "The Flame and the Void"
  • Anything else i need to keep in mind, apart from starting out relatively new to weapon combat as a whole and not appearing at the WT in, say, full platemail?

...Yes, i'm hopelessly addicted to RPing -_-

I am glad you decided to head our way! Welcome!I will answer your questions as they were submitted :)

1.No it does not matter you can have a WT and a WY character.

2.The disciplines and paths are not in use anymore, they are an old system that we not longer require as part of your training. You are more than welcome to still choose 1 discipline and 1 path for your new  charcter though.

3.Um..other than remembering you are not already a super warrior when you arrive you will do fine.

If you have any other questions feel free to ask!!

Okay...

How about taking multiple Discliplines and Paths? I'd start out with one of each, and gain others along the course of the RP (read: as i get better at using my primary weapon). As a tradeoff, i'd forgo having a tertiary weapon, and choose 'hand to hand' as a secondary to show total commitment to that single weapon type.

Just tossing out ideas for a highly specialised Naginata user ^^;

Edit: Umm, figured i might as well mention what i'd be aiming for.

Disciplines: Me’Arearth, Ren’Shai and Mo’kai’la

Paths: Knowledge and Perfection.

She'd likely be stuck in training for the rest of the decade, but yeah... Can't choose between those options ^^;

Officially you can only choose one of each, but if you would like to explore them all you would simply choose none, like most people do now days and then RP with several different people who use the various disciplines and such.

There are not likely to be a lot of them still around since the system is fairly old, but I can tell you for sure there is someone from the Ren'Shai and we can create a few TPC's to teach you some of the others. That way you are not really selecting anything and you get the benefit of several different teachering styles.

*thinks*

...Sure, sounds good. Though having read that Ren'shai is probably the most difficult of the three i wanted to master, she'll likely start off with Me’Arearth, learn about Mo’kai’la while in the Tower (most likely from one of your TPC's) at around WS 10-12, then start incorporating (elements of) the Ren’Shai into it at WS 16-18.

The main problem i have with selecting 'None' is that it sounds so... wishy-washy. Sure, she'd learn multiple Disciplines as well and be able to draw on all of them, mixing them into an unique blend, but... yeah. 'None' doesn't really describe it, as she uses those three to support each other.

ARGH! Decisions, decisions, decisions >_<

yes that coming from our great Master of Chameleon's shadow....

*gives Souvan a super wedgie*

the philosophies as you were asking were broken into two...you has the Spring...then the Flame and Void.

The Spring you embraced your emotions and became one with them...using it as an extreme focus.

The Flame and Void was where one fed all there emotions into a mental flame and let a void of emotionlesness surround them to where they have no fear...no anger...nothing...they are the eye of the storm.

The disciplines....I wouldn't know about any of the others because Ren'Shai rules....

oh yeah and if I didn't mention it before....REN'SHAI FOREVER!!!!!!

Hmm... I'll go for Me’Arearth then. She'll incorporate other styles into it as she gets better (yes Daegus, Ren'Shai too *sighs*) but at it's base it'd still be Me’Arearth.

Speaking of... Is it okay if i add a Discipline and Path into my bio, or is it something i'd have to work for ICly?

knows of daisho as my warder is so and about to learn another with my tg

is cool you choose to learn it, i think they where good sort of like compatible to the ajahs, sort of shaped and was part of the very essence of the char, not only what they did but who they where, lifestylewise and all...belive one of them are vegitarian even ? dunno as you usualy chose one and learned that well and sort of flunked on the knowledge of the others :P  (at least how i seen it in my time here, others is older and may disagree knowing other times or such)

That's 'cause we're just playing nice Eqwina ;)

As for mine, she's from Far Madding. Little pratcical knowledge of the blade as well, though her grandfather drilled a firm basis for Me'Arearth and the Path of Knowledge lifestyle into her.

aint the path of water the draw off of the me'arath *looks around*

sort of doubles up, we descided to change the disc out with paths, so all the rescentliest used discs has a double up in some path :S and then we instated the balance speed and something discs...dont recal it all lol..someone on staff or whatnot could likely explain it better if your interested in more knowledge of them all...as is we dont use anything specific...you can either choose 1, or choose none, and ignore them or blend out your own disc (think that is about what we're at now?)

Before my time either way.

The way i see it though, is that a Path to follow emphasizes different aspects of whatever Discipline you wish to follow. Path of Water is more flowing, relying on a person's talent of improvising whereas Path of Knowledge focuses more on knowing the forms themselves, with Blind Fighting being listed as one of the more difficult aspects to master. The character required would be near-opposites of each other (easygoing and improvisement versus by-the-book knowledge), but both would still be following the same Discipline.

Summarised, Path makes up the 'flavor' of the Discipline. New styles can always be created, but at its core there'll always be the basics of a Discipline.

The paths were the basic elements of fighting styles in general.  Not to use a pun, but they were not watered down versions of the older disciplines.

intent may not have been, and call it what you want, but every of the "new" paths as far as i know was based of a disc...and it was merely the referense i was asking...if the water path is to me'arath if you want, as dual blades was to daisho
