Sign me up! :) I'm bored and need something constructive to do. ^-^

I'm Chat-room Mafia experienced and i know the rules and most of the roles.

You've played enough games here to count as one? Cause if you are under 3 games around this place you can slide in as a newbie.

Not dead! I was recovering from camp. Okay, I'm aiming for about a dozen people, so I guess we'll sit tight and wait for them to be punted over. I'm counting bc as experienced so for now I don't want any more experienced players, but I could always start a waiting list. For now though, we can kill time with questions. I'll start: is everyone clear on the basics of what mafia is?

These newbie games are as simple as you're likely to find at DM. They have minimal roles and simple rules. However, because of the nature of mafia they can still twist your brain into knots. That's the fun part. You can simplify the set-up but you can't simplify people.

There are only a few things you need to understand.

1) The teams.

There are the villagers, an uninformed majority. Each villager can only be sure of him/herself. He/she doesn't know about anyone's team or role but his/her own, and cannot communicate about the game outside the game thread.

...And then there are the werewolves, an informed minority. They know each other and can communicate outside the game thread, unlike the villagers.

The villagers try to kill off the werewolves with a vote (frequently picking off one of their own instead) while the werewolves try to blend in with the villagers and pick them off one by one.

2) The game phases. Day and night.

During the day the whole town (including the werewolves, with smiles of perfect innocence) vote one who they want to kill that day. The day phase ends once a majority has been reached and the suspect lynched, or until the mod gets sick of waiting and hurls modly lightning bolts at the group.

Night phase is nap time unless you are a werewolf or a night-active role (we only have one, see below). During the night, the werewolves PM the mod the name of their victim. At this time, night-active roles also PM the mod with their choices. Once all PMs have been received, a new day phase begins with the outcome of the night-actions revealed.

Whenever someone dies, their role and alignment is revealed.

3) The roles. As I mentioned, we only have one. This role is called the angel. Like the werewolves, this role appears to be a normal villager, but unlike them is a powerful ally of the villagers. Each night they can choose to protect one person from a werewolf strike. If they target the same person as the 'wolves then that person is saved. Hooray!

4) Winning. The villagers win when they have wiped their lycanthropic neighbours from the game by lynching them all. The werewolves win when they outnumber or equal the villagers.

Clear as mud?

Read your long and eloquent post. I'm not familiar with the circumstances behind it but I take it there's hard feelings between you and certain parties. Politics is a <expletive>. Again I dunno exactly what this is about but best of luck. May you always find water and shade.

And then there were eight. Dammit, we're not supposed to start losing people till the game starts! I guess I'll just have to poach some more newbies.

Yeah, right. When is the postcount in Fiddles coming back again? But let's not dwell. This is supposed to be a game about scheming, backstabbing, prevaricating and scapegoating, not politics  ;D

I'm beginning to give up hope of getting this one finished before uni starts over for another year. I'll step up my newbie-harvesting efforts by actually going to the newbie forums.
